We arrived by car, and parking at the hotel was quite challenging. It's best to pull up to the entrance and have the staff assist with parking. The staff provided excellent service, offering a detailed introduction before we checked in. Our room, located right by the river, was very comfortable and had a lot of character, reflecting its long history. It's important to note that while there's a private toilet in the room, showering facilities are located at the main hot spring area, accessible via a small wooden bridge. Kurokawa Onsen itself is quite small; you can explore the whole area in about twenty minutes. We were lucky enough to catch the Yu-tō Festival (Lantern Festival) on its final night. The hotel's dinner comes highly recommended. The portions were incredibly generous – we couldn't even finish it all – and the taste was excellent. Featuring both wagyu beef and horse meat, it was truly a highlight.
The hotel is very antique hot spring hotel, there is an outdoor hot spring to enjoy the view, also has a hot spring on the roof, another characteristic 😍 very beautiful view 👍 smoking room very good because there is a beautiful view 😍 I called this hotel's smoking room is the most beautiful smoking room
I had a wonderful stay at Kyukamura Minami-Aso — the location is absolutely stunning, surrounded by the peaceful Aso mountains with beautiful views of the caldera and lush greenery. It’s the perfect place to relax and reconnect with nature.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and they went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The onsen was clean and relaxing, especially with the mountain view — a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring Aso.
Dinner and breakfast were excellent, with a wide variety of local dishes and fresh ingredients. The buffet offered a nice balance of Japanese and Western options, and everything tasted home-cooked and authentic.
The room was clean, spacious, and cozy, with a wonderful view right from the window. Waking up to the morning mist over the mountains was an unforgettable experience.
Overall, Kyukamura Minami-Aso is a peaceful retreat with warm hospitality, great food, and breathtaking scenery. I would love to stay here again!
This is an old Japanese-style hotel, the hotel waiters are uncles and aunts, there is an English-speaking aunt, so try to prepare translation software if possible. The hotel's food is very family-oriented, Japanese home-cooked food, want to experience the Kyushu Samo flavor here is right.
If there is no car, it really takes a lot of trouble to come over. It is recommended to take a taxi directly. The locals know this hotel.
Rooms were large, walls seemed soundproof, had a public bath that operated from 530 to 9am and then from 3pm till late. Breakfast and dinner buffet had a spread, but were the same items for the two consecutive nights we stayed.
The onsen was wonderful. This was our third visit, but our first time staying overnight, and we came with our 8-year-old child. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
Our room was traditional Japanese style, complete with tatami mats and authentic decor. There was a separate alcove with a hot water dispenser (thermo pot) for making tea. The windows overlooked the courtyard, offering a beautiful view of maple tree branches.
Dinner was a kaiseki meal, served course by course, featuring 9 different dishes – we particularly enjoyed the charcoal-grilled river fish, sashimi, and beef steak. The portions were quite generous. Breakfast was also excellent.
The staff were very friendly. A young man who showed us around, upon learning where we were from, mentioned his love for Tchaikovsky and even added a 'thank you'. The hotel also has a souvenir shop on site. Both indoor and outdoor baths are available, offering views of the river and forest.
The sea was so healed in front of me!
The hot springs were also very warm and the open-air bath was very comfortable and I put it slowly at night and in the morning.
Above all, the hotel was very kind and I wanted to repeat it again 😊✨
A group of 7 people are traveling by car, so transportation is not a problem.
The staff was very polite and communicated simply in English.
The hotel was decorated very clean and clean, and the rooms were a big surprise.
There are not many rooms, but each has a separate bath and of course a public hot spring.
Also due to location, no light will see the stars at night.
The meals at kaiseki cuisine are arranged by a dedicated person. The line is beautiful and attractive and tastes good.
Although it was an unexpected booking, seven people were overjoyed.
Will definitely go again if I have the chance.
The reserved pick-up time was full when we arrived on the first day. When we checked out the next morning, it was raining heavily. We asked the luggage storage area at the bus station how to get there. As a result, a hotel gentleman drove us to the luggage storage area. They also took us to the bus stop in front and introduced us to where to take the bus. Thank you very much. We didn’t have to push our luggage in the wind and rain.
The hotel's breakfast and dinner are very exquisite, with delicious set meals. Dining will be arranged for each guest in an exclusive room.
There are many kinds of hot spring houses to choose from, and you can experience different styles.
The location is close to Kumamoto Airport and pick-up is available. The owner is friendly and it is good for barbecue.

JJackieXThe hot spring hotel in Kurogawa was not booked, and Trip.com chose a holiday house in the nearby Tibetan hot spring. Arrive before 6 o'clock, otherwise the staff will get off work. The house is very old, the name is ”Mei”, and the other house is a very new one and should be much more comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped; The indoor hot spring is very hot, you have to try the temperature before entering the water. The towels are small and you have to bring your own bath towels.
EEtsukoThank you for your continued support. It's been a year since my last stay at Nakajimaya Dyeing and Inn. I received a handwritten welcome message upon check-in and I am truly grateful for the heartwarming hospitality. Every time I stay here, I always feel like I'm coming home to a cozy, relaxing place. The owner's warm and kind hospitality can be felt in every corner of this inn. And whenever I stay here, it's always spotlessly clean, so I can stay comfortably. The shared kitchen is comfortable and I always cook my own meals. The shared living room is also spacious and comfortable. The shower room is hygienic and has plenty of hot water. Of all the guesthouses and dormitories I've stayed at, this is my favorite. I stay here every time. I recommend this inn as it's a place you can stay with peace of mind.
AAltheaUnlike other hotels that send you the check-in information beforehand, you are required to scan the QR Code on the door, input the relevant information before the owners email you the door access code. It wasn't immediately apparent so I had to call the owner, and wasted 15min of international call time.
However, entering the room was a great delight! It was much more spacious than expected. The living conditions were very comfortable. You can lie on the shammock on the rooftop as well to watch the stars.
The restaurants around close by 5pm. It would probably be better had I spend more nights here to rest and simply do nothing.
GGuest UserMy brother and me had a terrific stay in the beautiful setting. The drive up the mountain on a tiny road is well worth it. The hostess is so friendly and wonderful, and was so hospitable. She explained the food dishes that were served using Google translate. The food was amazing, so varied and included local specialties: Trout, fried moth larvae, black moss that grows on rocks ( local delicatessen), wild hog soup, deer sashimi, etc. We experienced the finest Japanese food and hospitality. Traditional bedroom with tatami mats and access to the unsen were added amenities.
Thank you for the memorable experience!

GGuest UserAlthough it took a lot of setbacks to find this homestay (I thought it was a hotel 🏨) (Ctrip's name is not accurate at all, depressed 😒), but you can’t say that I would choose a place to live [呲牙], if not outside It’s dark, I can’t take pictures, otherwise the effect would be better: next to a small river, coming in is a small garden, very quiet, the room is an ensuite, everything is there, I will come back to the hot spring after eating delicious food in the evening. ♨️, have a good night’s sleep, and you will have a good walk around tomorrow morning[悠闲][悠闲]
GGuest UserA very satisfying stay!
The design of the cabin is stunning. The two-story independent cabin allows children to climb up and down as much as they like. The owner of the B&B is very enthusiastic. Even if he doesn't understand the language, he tries his best to use translation software to introduce Kurokawa Onsen's attractions and B&B facilities. It really makes people feel like returning to their hometown.
Kurokawa is very quiet at night, and you can really enjoy the tranquility and leisure of the deep mountain hot springs.
The cabin is fully equipped and can be used for simple cooking. I cooked Japanese sukiyaki pot with the children in the cabin, which was very satisfying!
The outdoor hot spring in the B&B is another amazing place. Because it was summer, we didn’t make a reservation for the hot spring. The owner of the B&B enthusiastically invited us to enjoy it (unexpectedly). Unexpectedly, it turned out to be an independent open-air hot spring. I highly recommend making a reservation. It’s too Feel comfortable!
The next day, the children were very reluctant to say goodbye to the owner of the B&B and the owner's dog. Along the way, they still missed the comfortable bed (actually just a tatami sleeping mat) in the B&B. I will definitely visit again next time I have the opportunity!
Kuai Shi Na Ye を あ り が と う ご ざ い ま し た.またぜひ来ます.

GGuest UserIt’s an okay hotel. Parking on a slanted hill. No elevator from the 1st floor. Must haul luggage up steps to 2nd floor then an elevator to other floors. Stains on tatami mats in room. Small icebox. Very small tv. Japanese style breakfast was okay. Unzen was fair. Hot water bath but no cold bath to jump into after hot bath.
There were 3 of us in the room. Otherwise okay hotel. Sorry, Maybe 3 stars.
GGuest UserThe lodge is close to the mount aso with a handful of cozy rooms. The host is kind and friendly. They serve well curated dinner and breakfast in japanese western style. It has been a nice stay.
