The room is great, and the amenities are well worth the price. The cleaning staff (Ayi) is very warm and helpful, accommodating special requests for tidying up. It would be even better if the balcony were cleaner and had outdoor furniture like a table and chairs. The front desk concierge was also quite enthusiastic.

I booked a basic room, and luckily, there were still rooms available that day, so the butler upgraded me. The tent is really picturesque for photos. The good mood I got upon entering the room compelled me to write a review about the butler! Before check-in, the butler proactively contacted me, informing me that the room included one fixed-point airport transfer. They also told me about the weather, helped me plan my itinerary and offered travel advice, and even recommended Dunhuang Print Shop for a visit. During my stay, the butler always responded instantly (except when they were picking up/dropping off guests, which I totally understand if replies were a bit slower). Even when I returned very late at night, a butler was still there. The front desk also left a phone number. I talk a lot and can be long-winded, haha, but they patiently answered all my questions. Huge thanks to the Shazhou Wild Luxury Camp butler team for making a solo female traveler feel so welcome and cared for. I will definitely be back next summer. I highly recommend it to every young lady looking for quality and experience – come and enjoy!

The location is inside Tianshui Ancient City, a bit hard to find. Breakfast is a collaboration with the shop next door, only available from 8 AM, which is different from the information provided here. The room's screen mirroring works fine, but there are constant ads… The room doesn't have a key; it has a combination lock, so you don't have to worry about only having one card for two people. The front desk provides many free small items that you can use. The downsides are that if you stay on the first floor, you'll hear noise from outside, and if no one is at the front desk during check-in, you'll have to wait.

It was my first time to experience ******* houses. It was quite special. Their house was very big. The biggest highlight was that there was a large public area on the second floor where you could drink tea and chat, and children could walk around and play. The boss was very nice, and there were also breakfast drinks. The room was all wooden, and I personally was not used to the smell. I chose a private bathroom, but the room was very small. The one in the picture without a bathroom was very large. It depends on your personal preference.

Best hotel I’ve stayed in on my trip. The family made me feel so welcome. The room was very comfortable and quiet. Lots of hot water. Food was great. They gave me a bike to cycle to the grasslands and did my washing for free! Also dropped me at the bus station. So kind and lovely. And the owner speaks perfect English.

Perfect location for visiting the Rainbow Mountains, with the western entrance in walking distance. The exceptionally friendly reception also recommended scenic spots in the area, and we were able to borrow traditional clothing for our photo shoot free of charge. The overnight stay in a heated yurt was very comfortable, with shower and toilet facilities within easy reach. The breakfast was excellent and varied; even our demanding children gave it two thumbs up.

The room is clean and comfortable, with a small balcony. The daily necessities are of good quality and taste. There is also eight-treasure tea and a foot bath bucket. The breakfast is very good-looking and tastes good, which makes people feel good when they wake up in the morning. The overall decoration is very sunny. There are also souvenirs for sale. The price is right and the quality is good. The two beauties have good temperament and are gentle and kind. In short, they deserve my careful review!

Honestly, when you come to Dunhuang, there's no need to rush from one attraction to another every single day! This time, I deliberately chose this guesthouse tucked away in a village, mainly to slow down, relax, and just chill. The overall experience was really therapeutic, but there are a few honest critiques I want to share to help future visitors. First, let's talk about the major positives! The location truly exceeded my expectations. It's not in the bustling city center; instead, it's hidden in a village, completely avoiding the crowds and traffic of the city. It's peaceful and quiet, not noisy at all, setting the perfect mood for a relaxed vacation. It's also not far from Mingsha Mountain and Mogao Grottoes, and taxis are readily available whenever you step out, making it super convenient to get to attractions without having to wake up early or squeeze onto a crowded bus. The value for money for accommodation is also great. For around 300 RMB per person, you can stay in a courtyard room with two large beds, offering excellent privacy. It's really pleasant to sit in your private little courtyard and have afternoon tea. I have to praise the memory foam pillows provided; they're just the right balance of soft and firm, ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of traveling – a huge plus point! The guesthouse itself has an Instagram-worthy cafe. The freshly ground coffee is excellent. There are several spots for afternoon tea, including a sandy area, a pool, and an orchard. Sipping coffee and taking photos with the cool breeze from the desert makes every shot look like a professional, atmospheric photo, instantly bringing a sense of relaxation. In the evening, there's also a stargazing platform. Far from city lights, you can look up and see a sky full of stars, instantly melting away all your travel fatigue. You don't have to worry about food either. While there aren't many restaurants within walking distance, the guesthouse can arrange customized local specialty meals. Having a BBQ or hotpot in the courtyard feels so special. If you don't feel like moving, delivery services for takeout are also very fast, perfectly satisfying any lazy traveler. Now, for a few honest minor complaints – consider these if you're particular: Since it's in a village, there aren't many shops along the street nearby, so it's not very convenient to just go out for a casual stroll, snack, or buy groceries. However, anything you need can be ordered for delivery. The temperature difference between morning and evening is significant, and it can get quite windy in the courtyard. Remember to bring a light jacket if you plan to have outdoor afternoon tea. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons. This place is perfect for those who don't like rushing from one attraction to another, prefer peace and quiet, and are looking for atmosphere, healing, and a truly relaxing and laid-back vacation.

The house is very clean and spacious. The bathroom is also separated into dry and wet areas, and the toilet is also automatic. Most importantly, there is a balcony with fully automatic screens. When the sun is good in the afternoon, you can take pictures and drink tea there and relax. The boss is also very good and will help you put your luggage. The service attitude is very good. It was a great trip and I will come again next time.

The guesthouse is a 15-minute walk from the entrance to Mingsha Mountain, but the owner is incredibly kind and will pick you up and drop you off in his minibus. The guesthouse's style reminded me of a hotel I stayed at in Chiang Mai. The courtyard has a pond, a grape trellis laden with bunches of unripe fruit, and a rocking chair where I would lie in the morning sun. There's a laundry room and drying area. There's a rest area where you can help yourself to sliced watermelon and cantaloupe, barley tea and chrysanthemum tea, drinking water, and ice. One day, the owner even gave me a capsule coffee. The guesthouse has a small Western restaurant, and after trying other restaurants, the 15 RMB breakfast voucher is a great deal. The owner also took us to see the Milky Way; without his invitation, I think I would have missed a wonderful experience. The only downside is that because it's in the countryside, there are many camel herders around the scenic area, so there are flies outdoors. However, the owner has kept them away with curtains.

GGuest UserTake the kids for a change of scenery! This B&B in Dunhuang is perfect for bringing kids. Any photo you take will turn it into a life-like portrait! 1. The rooms have a unique design, and I love the overall style. The bed in the family room is huge, and my two adults and two children slept very comfortably. The first-floor exterior view is beyond stunning, and any photo you take is a masterpiece. It feels so luxurious. The room is clean and well-lit. It's a perfect vacation for kids in Dunhuang! 2. I was initially worried about smells and other issues with the new renovations, but after arriving, I realized that this wasn't an issue at all. Full marks! 3. We arrived during dinner time, and unexpectedly, the B&B had food available. We ordered a few dishes, and they were surprisingly delicious. I recommend the fish and the big plate chicken—incredibly delicious! 4. The hotel's amenities, including amenities and appliances, are all very complete. They even have a capsule coffee machine. For someone like me who works in an office every day, daily coffee is a must! ☕️ This is truly a must-have! 💕 5. Staying here with children is hands-free; they can play in the pool and sandpit all day without leaving the house! This stay was truly wonderful. I'll be back!

AAnonymous UserIf life is a never-ending journey, then the camping trip at the Desert Star Hotel is undoubtedly a highlight of my journey. When I arrived at the campsite, the first thing that attracted me was the unique tent house. Unlike regular tents, the top of the tent is made of special transparent materials, like a huge viewing platform, which builds a bridge of communication between me and the vast galaxy. As night fell, I couldn't wait to lie on the soft bed, and when I looked up, the bright starry sky was presented to me without reservation. The stars twinkled, like gems inlaid on the black sky, beautiful as a dream. At that moment, the world seemed to press the mute button, and the impetuousness and noise in my heart were instantly soothed. The unique beauty of this quietness made me intoxicated. It is worth mentioning that the hotel staff is very considerate. After placing the order, the customer service guy at the front desk added our contact information and gave us some local travel tips, which saved us a lot of time. From the warm reception at check-in, to the careful guidance during the activities, to the warm greetings at night, every detail made people feel cared for. They not only provided me with thoughtful service, but also made me feel the simplicity and enthusiasm of the desert people. This desert camping trip not only allowed me to appreciate the magnificent scenery of the desert, but also experienced exciting and interesting activities, which became an eternal and beautiful memory in my heart.

SSimona F.I loved the Courtyard B&B. The rural but very chic style. My room was generous, furnishing in the same traditional style. Clean throughout The reception area very attractive and provides nice secluded spaces for relaxing- working in my case) under Bamboo trees and mandala decorated glasses of the ceiling. Very peaceful. I very much appreciated the presence of a kittens with mum and a little doggie which I perceived like mascotte of the place. They were very well maintained and cared of. The stuff is very nice and helpful and we were able to understand each others in some way. I highly recommend this accomodation both for holiday and work.

GGuest UserIdyllic and relaxing resort-like property in the countryside, yet only 5-15 minutes drive away from the airport and major attractions. We deliberately chose this semi-rural location for a peaceful rest after the long sunny visits to Mogao Grottoes and Mingsha Mountain. So happy with our choice. The rooms are huge, new, clean and well furnished. The bed and duvet are luxuriously comfortable, it was so difficult to get out of bed. Breakfast is in the beautiful dining room behind the main building, surrounded by the lush garden. The home-cooked light healthy breakfast was nourishing, a welcomed contrast to the heavy greasy food in restaurants. The lobby has a convivial lounge area with generous supply of local snacks. Most importantly, the service of the two bosses and their staff have been heartwarming and filled with love. We felt like guests in their home. One day my elderly dad didn't go out. The owners even took care of my dad by including him in their team lunch and showed him around the property garden. We were so touched. Thank you Zhang An and team for this unforgettable lovely experience. We will be back.

GGuest UserThis guesthouse is truly unique! Each room is named after one of the twelve zodiac signs, with designs that blend local flair and astrological elements. In the evenings, you can go stargazing, with options for an indoor lecture and actual observation from the rooftop. The instructor mentioned that summer is the best season for stargazing, and if you want to spot your own zodiac constellation, it's best to visit around two months before or after its designated month. They even gave us wishing bottles for our own zodiac signs, which we filled with sand from Mingsha Mountain the next day to take home! The host is incredibly warm and helpful; you can ask her about local tourism, car rentals, and more – she's very considerate. Breakfast is different every day, with a thoughtful and nutritious selection. There's also an adorable cat who loves to 'accompany' you during meals, often sitting on a chair. She gets so happy if you share half an egg yolk with her every morning! She also recently had three tiny, adorable kittens! The guesthouse features a classroom and a spacious, bright lobby, making it feel especially suitable for study tour groups. We initially planned to stay two nights but loved it so much we extended for another night. The village atmosphere is quiet and comfortable, and it's about a 15-minute taxi ride to Shazhou Night Market and around 20 minutes to the train station, so transportation is very convenient. Highly recommend for family trips and educational tours!

GGuest UserThe B&B has a large yard, a good environment, and is surrounded by green trees. It is very close to the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake scenic area. The owner will take you to a small path, which takes less than ten minutes to reach the scenic area, which is especially convenient for watching the sunrise and sunset. The room is spacious, clean and tidy, and there is no odor. The bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas, and the spray hot water is large, so it is very comfortable to take a bath. GGuest UserThe good impression of Dunhuang started when the store owner answered my call. He was very enthusiastic to help us book tickets for ”See You Again Dunhuang”, helped us book a taxi for the pick-up station 🚖, and organized us to watch the moon together at night. The store owner is a photography enthusiast with a big golden retriever 🐕. He lent us a cowboy hat and Rose to take pictures at Mingsha Mountain. The point is: the homestay is only a few hundred meters away from the middle gate of Mingsha Mountain, which is super close to satisfy us to watch the sunrise and sunset of Mingsha Mountain.

YYijiajiajianqiangyongganFriends, I accidentally stumbled upon a budget version of Songtsam Hotel! Showing your guesthouse reservation allows you to drive directly up to the property, saving you one shuttle bus ticket. The next day, if you plan to hike the 'Thirty-Three Heavens,' you can drive straight to the parking lot below, which is super convenient and saves a lot of energy 🅿️. In the evening, you can sign up for the hostess's stargazing tour. The sky was full of clearly visible stars – absolutely stunning! And everyone got some amazing photos!! Getting up at 8 AM the next day for a leisurely hike up the 'Thirty-Three Heavens' was perfect; we completely avoided the crowds, encountering only cleaning staff and meditating masters. Plus, by getting up early, we even saw blue pheasants and marmots fighting, haha! After the hike, we returned to the guesthouse just in time to check out and have a meal, then said goodbye to the snow-capped mountains feeling content yet reluctant to leave! I was also really impressed with the facilities in the mountains. The shower water was surprisingly hot! And the toilet didn't clog! Food was always available and tasted great! They even had butter tea! And the snow-capped mountains were visible right from our window for free! Songtsam probably isn't much better than this!
