Overview of Harbin Metro System

As of August 2026, the Harbin Metro has three operating lines, 78 stations and 91.57 kilometres of track. Line 3 became a complete loop on November 26, 2024, giving the network its current cross-and-loop layout.

Only Lines 1, 2 and 3 are operating. Lines 4 and 5 may appear on future network plans, but they are not open. Harbin Metro Group stated in May 2026 that these projects were still under preliminary study and had not received approval.

Harbin Airport and Railway Station Metro Connections

Harbin Taiping International Airport

There is no operating metro station at Harbin Taiping International Airport as of August 2026. Use an airport shuttle bus, taxi or ride-hailing service to reach the city, then transfer to the metro if needed.

Airport bus routes and operating hours can change, so confirm the latest information after arrival. Allow extra travel time during winter because snow, icy roads and heavy tourist traffic may slow the journey.

Harbin Railway Stations

⚠️ Important: Check the Chinese station name on your train ticket before leaving. Harbin Railway Station and Harbin West Railway Station are different transport hubs on different metro lines.

Harbin Metro Fares

Harbin Metro uses a distance-based fare system. The fare is calculated using the shortest valid route between your entry and exit stations.

The current network’s highest fare is CNY 7. The fare brackets and maximum price are confirmed by the Harbin Municipal Government.

Harbin Metro Operating Hours

The usual network operating window is around 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM. Exact first and last train times depend on the station, line and direction. Line 3 station times also vary because it is a loop.

One-Day Harbin Metro Sightseeing Route

Start at Museum Station for the Heilongjiang Provincial Museum. Take Line 2 to Shangzhi Street for Saint Sophia Cathedral, then continue to Central Street.

Later, ride Line 2 north to Sun Island and finish at Ice and Snow World if the attraction is included in your plans.
