Haikou Urban Rail and High-Speed Train

Haikou High-Speed Train

Haikou does not have a subway-style metro system. Instead, the city uses urban rail services and the Hainan Island high-speed railway to connect the airport, major stations, and nearby cities. The trains are clean, air-conditioned, and easy to use, making them a convenient option for first-time visitors, especially if your hotel is near a railway station.

🛤️ Key Stations in Haikou

Some of the most useful railway stations for travelers include:

Haikou East Railway Station

  • Main high-speed rail hub in the city
  • Convenient for travel to Sanya, Wenchang, and other cities in Hainan

Haikou Meilan International Airport

  • Direct railway access inside the airport
  • Easy connection between the airport and city stations

Haikou Railway Station

  • Serves some long-distance and cross-strait routes
  • Useful for ferry-linked rail travel to mainland China

If your accommodation is close to any of these stations, the train can save time and avoid road traffic.

⏱️ Operating Hours and Frequency

  • Trains generally run from early morning until late evening
  • Frequency varies by route, usually every 10 to 20 minutes for busy sections
  • Schedules may change slightly on public holidays

You usually won’t need to wait long, especially during the day.

💳 Tickets and Payment

  • Short trips within Haikou: around ¥10–20
  • Intercity trips within Hainan: higher, based on destination
  • Buy tickets at station counters, ticket machines, or official railway apps
  • Payment accepted: cash (CNY), Alipay, WeChat Pay

⚠️ Things to Note

  • This is not a full metro network, so stations are spaced farther apart than subways in larger cities
  • You may need a short taxi or bus ride from the station to your hotel
  • Last trains usually run before midnight, so late-night travel may require a taxi
🎉 Pro Tip: Riding the bullet train? Check our quick guide on the China High-Speed Train for booking tips, routes, and smooth travel.

This was my first time staying at this hotel. It exceeded my expectations. The pictures of the rooms on trip.com did not look that great but once I opened the door to my room I realised the rooms were very nice, spacious, clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We received great service from Beth in reception ( checked us in very quickly, her English was great) and Eric in the dining area who made our stay delightful.

✨ Haikou Parent-Child Hotel | Top of the List, and Deservedly So! This was our first time in Haikou, and we decided to check out this Sheraton because it was ranked number one. The experience far exceeded our expectations, and the value for money was truly outstanding! 👍 Our family room was thoughtfully decorated. It happened to be our child's birthday, and they even kindly prepared a birthday cake – so many thoughtful details! The kids' pool was huge, and our little one had a blast splashing around, giving us parents some much-needed relaxation. The breakfast and dinner buffets offered a rich variety of options and were incredibly popular. With kids, having so many choices made meal times easy and convenient. The hotel also provides a travel photography service. Of course, you want to capture those precious family moments during your trip! 📸 ⚠️ A small tip: Outfits for the photoshoot require an additional fee, but the photographer was excellent at engaging our child, and the candid shots turned out lively and natural. This trip put a perfect end to our summer vacation. If you're coming to Haikou with kids, you can confidently choose this hotel. We'll definitely pick this place again next time! #HaikouFamilyHotel #SheratonHaikou #HaikouKidsActivities #HaikouHotelRecommendations #HainanFamilyTravel

I brought my child along for a short trip, and the experience was fantastic value for money. Ctrip offered a great price during this period. The breakfast and regular buffet had a wide variety of authentic dishes, which I really enjoyed. The hotel's location is excellent; opening the window reveals a sea view where you can see across the strait. Facilities: The facilities are comprehensive, with multiple indoor and outdoor swimming areas, which my child absolutely loved. They mostly wanted to play within the hotel grounds and didn't want to go out. The beach is just across the road, which is super convenient. Hygiene: The room was clean, and housekeeping was prompt. As an environmentalist, I don't advocate for waste. Service: The service was attentive, and the front desk staff were warm and thorough. Seeing that I had a child, they proactively upgraded our room. A big shout-out to Xiaomeng! This level of service is often something state guesthouse-type hotels do better than international chains – they proactively helped with luggage, taxis, and hotel activities, which was great for a family with a child. The experience was truly excellent, and I'll definitely bring my wife here next time.

An established Pullman 5-star hotel. The public areas of this Nanyang-style resort are beautifully designed. The in-room amenities and decor also exude a strong Nanyang vibe. This Pullman has been around for a while, so the elevators and in-room facilities have a vintage feel. However, the overall maintenance is quite good, and they still function well enough. The room isn't huge, but the layout is nice. The large mirror and hardware in the bathroom are very high-quality, showing that the hotel put thought into its selections. The mattress was too soft, making it uncomfortable to sleep. Room cleanliness was very good. The toothbrush is made of bamboo, and the toothpaste comes in paper packaging, which I haven't encountered in other 5-star hotels. It would be even better if the bristles were softer. Overall, the cleanliness and service were good. At breakfast, dishes weren't refilled quickly enough after running out, but the view outside the restaurant is fantastic. The pool and hot spring areas are also very beautiful.

The hotel's main entrance isn't directly on the main road, and while the garden isn't huge, stepping into the lobby immediately brings a sense of calm with the classic Langham fragrance. Hehe. The check-in area is located on the 43rd floor, offering panoramic views of Haikou. Downstairs, it's right next to MixC World and Evergreen Park, making getting around super convenient. The room was clean and tidy, but there was an unfamiliar grassy smell, I'm not sure what it was. Hygiene: Good, clean, and the cleaning lady was very kind and meticulous. Environment: The room decoration was very exquisite, practical, and thoughtfully designed. Service: The front desk staff were generally good, with a strong service-oriented attitude. Initially, a tall man checked me in; he was a bit cold and arrogant. However, the slender girl who checked me out was very friendly and professional. When I left, someone saluted and smiled, which was very heartwarming. One minor issue was that the luggage service was too slow, slower than the average hotel, and even more so for a Ritz-Carlton. Facilities: Pros: The gym was excellent, I really liked the equipment, it was very comfortable. It wasn't overly crowded. Cons: The swimming pool was a bit small (15 meters). The pool and gym are shared with the Renaissance, so the clientele is a bit mixed. I suspect I was followed by a man (he kept swimming close to me, when I got up, he got up, when I walked away, he followed, and when I walked aimlessly, he also followed). So, ladies traveling alone should be careful! The biggest drawback was the location; it's quite out of the way, and ordering delivery was inconvenient. However, the Chinese restaurant was quite good. But there's no hotel in the city center that can compare to the Ritz-Carlton in terms of quality, so it's a matter of trade-offs.

This downtown hotel offers incredible value for money, making it super convenient for getting around and finding food! Just a few minutes' walk to the mall, and a 10-minute taxi ride gets you straight to Qilou Old Street and the night market. There are seafood restaurants and snack shops everywhere nearby; if you're craving Lingshui sour noodles or grilled oysters, you'll find them right downstairs. The hotel facilities are very new, and the room was clean with no strange odors. The soundproofing was good, so I wasn't disturbed at night, and the mattress was just right—not too soft, not too firm. Hot water for showering was plentiful, and the internet speed was fast enough for both business and leisure travelers. The front desk staff were gentle and polite, and the check-in/check-out process was simple. Luggage storage is free, which is a thoughtful touch. Breakfast was simple but tasty, with congee, noodles, and dim sum available—enough to fill you up comfortably. The room had great natural light, and housekeeping was prompt every day, keeping everything very clean. The price is affordable, and the amenities are comprehensive. If you're on a budget but want to stay in the city center, don't hesitate to book here. Overall, it exceeded my expectations!

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for a romantic getaway, and I have to give a special shout-out to Helen at the front desk. We were a bit tired from our journey, but Helen was incredibly gentle and patient throughout the entire check-in process, which was handled quickly and efficiently without any unnecessary delays. We weren't very familiar with the local attractions, so we casually asked for some recommendations for food and sightseeing spots. She didn't just brush us off; instead, she thoughtfully suggested some local favorites that actual residents frequent, helping us avoid overcrowded tourist traps. Later, when we went back to the front desk to ask about luggage storage, she continued to respond with a smile, never showing any impatience. Our romantic trip for two got off to a wonderful start right from the moment we checked in. The thoughtful service significantly enhanced the happiness of our journey. This hotel is one of the few with hot springs in the city center. It's an older property, which is why it has the hot springs, so some facilities are a bit dated, but it's very well-managed. The air conditioning was on in the room constantly, so there was no musty smell. The bedding was good and clean. The mattress was comfortable, just the right firmness. I have to commend the front desk staff during check-in. They lent me an umbrella even before I had completed my booking, which really touched me with their trust.
