The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, right by the exit of Universal Studios. Downstairs, there are plenty of shops along Universal Studios Street, making shopping and dining super easy. There's even a Sushiro and a Lawson convenience store right on the ground floor. I only found out after checking in that the hotel offers luggage storage, so the information online saying they don't is incorrect. If you have luggage, you can drop it off at the hotel first and then head to Universal Studios. The hotel also has a gym. Oh, and the breakfast spread is fantastic! We woke up a bit late, and breakfast only runs until 10 AM, so by the time we got to the restaurant, we only had about half an hour to eat, which wasn't quite enough time 🤦♂️

This was the most satisfying room during our trip to Japan. The wet and dry areas were separate, and the hygiene was impeccable. The bathtub was also very comfortable. My child loved the room's decor and facilities. We could see most of Universal Studios Japan from the room. The TV had Phoenix Satellite Television, but I couldn't find any Universal movies. The staff were incredibly friendly. We received a princess-themed toiletries set upon check-in. We stayed for two nights, and the cleaning on the second day was just as thorough as on the first day, which was a huge plus. The hotel restaurants were all delicious. My child didn't want to leave. We would definitely choose to stay here again if we have the chance.

Had a fantastic stay at Hotel Kintetsu Universal City! The location is unbeatable—it’s only a 1-minute walk to Universal Studios Japan, making it incredibly convenient to visit the park from early morning until closing time. The hotel is also surrounded by plenty of restaurants, convenience stores, and shopping options, so everything you need is within easy walking distance. One of the highlights was the lovely surprise gift from the hotel—an exclusive Original Pass Holder featuring Sesame Street characters from the park. The glitter inside moves when you shake it, making it a fun and unique souvenir that brought a smile to our faces. After checking out, we were able to take the airport limousine bus directly to the airport for an additional fee, which was very convenient and made our journey home much easier. Overall, this hotel offers an excellent location, comfortable accommodation, thoughtful service, and a few special touches that made our stay even more memorable.

Hotel Exceeded Expectations The location is incredibly convenient. You can see roller coasters right outside the window, and there are several exits. One side door leads directly to Universal Studios Japan, and if you turn left opposite GAP, you'll quickly reach Universal. Luggage storage is self-service; you get a coin to use the lockers. The room isn't huge, but for Japan, it's a decent size, and the layout is very well thought out. It has a shoe dryer, and the bathroom not only has a hairdryer but also a hair straightener. Make-up remover, toner, and serum are all provided per person. If I come to Universal again, I'll definitely book here.

This hotel is super convenient for visiting both Universal Studios Japan (USJ) and the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan! There's a supermarket downstairs and plenty of dining options nearby. The breakfast was delicious, especially the udon noodles and ice cream. The night before heading to USJ, you can walk just a couple of minutes to the street in front of the entrance to buy merchandise, so you can dress up nicely and get into the full USJ spirit on the day of your visit!

The hotel lobby had a wonderful fragrance. Breakfast was excellent, and they even offered free hotdogs in the evening. They also helped me find a balloon I'd lost in the restaurant. For this price, the value for money is unbeatable. It's only a 5-10 minute drive to Universal Studios, and there are plenty of amenities nearby.

The front desk staff were incredibly warm and attentive, always ready to help with anything I needed. Breakfast was delicious and had a great variety. Facilities: Overall very good. Breakfast was just okay, but there's a convenience store and bakery downstairs, so you can easily book without breakfast and not worry about waking up early. Hygiene: Very clean. Comes with a full set of Refa hairdryer, curling iron, and straightener. Environment: The environment is great. There are large supermarkets and convenience stores downstairs, plenty of restaurants, and easy access to the subway. Service: Couldn't check in early. I recommend communicating with the hotel in advance if you want an early check-in, otherwise, they won't let you check in early at all. We stayed on the 50th floor in a triple room with single beds. The view was amazing, you could see USJ. It's also very close by subway or Uber.

Location: Next to Bentencho station so easy access to Osaka loop line and Chuo Line for Subway and Rail. Really good location even though it's not central Osaka. The advantage is that you can still get everywhere within 10-20mins and the surrounding area is clean and safe and quiet. There is a 7-11 next door and a commercial gym (charged at 1650 per day) Negatives are there is not much to do in the evenings. But this leads to the quietness of the area and is an advantage Hotel Room: We stayed in double room and it was large. Nice comfortable bed with good pillows. The AC was modern and good and did not make noise even while we were asleep. The room is cleaned daily (tidy and new towels) with new sheets every 3 days. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner provided. The room was also very clean. The bed has USB and chargers on either side of it. There is space to hang clothes But the room is really nice. We always were glad to come back to a very clean and tidy place. The TV has English menus but we never watched anything. Negatives are the fridge could be colder and the bathroom sink has a tiny slope on it so you cannot place product on the sink but you have a shelf above the sink for this. Very slight negatives for what is a great place to stay Hotel features: Excellent. Great laundry room with several washers & dryers. Trouser presses, vending machine and ice machine. A rooftop terrace with good views. The breakfast is free and is underwhelming, just different bread and pastries with choices of juice, soups, water and yogurt. It's acceptable and I guess it's free. The hotel lobby has little items you can take if needed, such as hair bands, toothbrushes, razor kits but something nice was that they give you bath bombs for free too. Different ones each day. Staff: Very friendly and helpful, even after midnight when I made requests they were very fast and helpful Overview: 100% would stay here again. The price-to-quality ratio and the large room size make this an easy choice. Do not worry about location, I stayed it Dontonburi area before and alothgh its close to everything, its loud, dirty and feels unsafe. But the location of Porta Inn is really good and super easy to get to central areas (around 10-20mins) and easy to get to the airport (direct line) and easy to get to Universal Studios too.

The service attitude at the front desk of the hotel is good, but the air-conditioning in the room is central air-conditioning, and the temperature cannot be adjusted by oneself. However, the view of the room is very good, and the price/performance ratio is good.

The environment is particularly beautiful, the room is relatively large, take the children, you can play in the small pool, it is still very good. There are many mosquitoes. Remember to turn on the electric mosquito coil. There is a match in the room, but we found out when we checked out that we were harassed by mosquitoes for a night. It is recommended that you plan to die at the same time at Bo and Universal Studios, or Osaka Port, Ocean Park can choose to live here for one night, which is more suitable. Not suitable for shopping, because there are no large shopping plazas around. Because there are no restaurants around the hotel, dinner is solved in the restaurant in the hotel. The price is not too expensive and the taste is very good. It is mainly pizza, pasta, steak, soup curry, fried chicken or fish steak chips. There are many kinds of wine to choose from.

This hotel was a great stay! Honestly it's such a good find. It’s about a 10 to 12 minute walk from the nearest station, and the area is nice and quiet. There are a couple of convenience stores in the area along with some restaurants too! The staff were super friendly and very attentive, which made the stay even better.^^ The room itself was great too! The beds were comfortable, and it was really nice coming back after a full day of traveling and just being able to unwind. If you’re planning to visit Universal Studios, this is an awesome place to stay since it’s in a great location and the commute isn’t far at all. The room aesthetics were unique and such a vibe! The four-way Fastpass was totally worth it! Even though it was a weekday during summer vacation, I only had to wait about 20 minutes for either Mario or Donquixote!! In this hot weather, being able to use Fastpass smoothly was such a blessing ☺️ Highly recommend it!

USJ was really fun! I got to try out newer and limited-time rides, although I must say the queues were really long for some🥹 single riders queue was really convenient for us since we were travelling as a pair! Had fun overall and will definitely be back again!

Is a Universal Express Pass Worth Buying?

Halloween is one of the busiest seasons at Universal Studios Japan. Popular rides and limited-time horror attractions can have long queues, especially during weekends and throughout October.

A Universal Express Pass may be useful if you want to experience several popular attractions in one day.

However, each Express Pass includes a different group of rides. Check whether your preferred Halloween attractions are included before purchasing.

The Express Pass is separate from the regular Studio Pass and does not include park admission.

🎟️ USJ Tip: Book your Universal Studios Japan ticket early, especially when visiting on a weekend or during October. Download the official USJ app before your trip so you can check wait times, show schedules and Timed Entry eTickets after entering the park.

What to Prepare Before Visiting

Universal Studios Japan
  • Japan eSIM or pocket Wi-Fi: You will need internet access to check maps, attraction wait times, show schedules and Timed Entry eTickets.
  • Portable charger: Taking photos and using the USJ app throughout the day can quickly drain your phone battery.
  • Comfortable shoes: Universal Studios Japan is large, and visitors may need to walk or stand in queues for several hours.
  • Light jacket: Osaka evenings can become cooler from September to November, especially during nighttime Halloween activities.
  • USJ ticket and Express Pass: Book your park ticket early. An Express Pass may help reduce waiting times for selected attractions.
  • Japanese yen: Most stores accept cards or electronic payments, but carrying a small amount of cash is still useful.
  • Small towel or raincoat: Some rides, including Jurassic Park: The Ride, may leave you wet.
  • Simple costume accessories: Visitors may wear Halloween costumes, but they should check the official USJ costume rules before entering.
