I recently stayed at this hotel and wanted to share a detailed review of my experience, both the good and the not-so-great aspects.
Let’s start with the positives: the breakfast was excellent. It was honestly one of the highlights of my stay. A good selection of food, fresh ingredients, and attentive staff made the morning meal a very pleasant experience. Whether you're into local flavors or prefer something more continental, there seemed to be options for everyone. Coffee was hot, pastries were fresh, and the seating area was clean and welcoming.
Unfortunately, the room itself left a lot to be desired. There was a noticeable smell throughout the room that didn’t go away even after airing it out for some time. It wasn't overpowering, but definitely enough to make the space feel less clean and comfortable than it should have been.
The biggest issue, however, was the carpet getting wet. It seemed like water was leaking from either the bathroom or some nearby plumbing, and the moisture had soaked into the carpet near the entrance of the room. Walking over damp carpet isn't exactly pleasant, and it raised concerns about hygiene and maintenance. It also made the room feel more humid and stuffy.
Housekeeping did a decent job with daily cleaning, but the smell and wet carpet are issues that likely go beyond surface-level cleaning—they need proper maintenance or repair.
Overall, I think this hotel has potential. The staff were friendly, and again, the breakfast was genuinely great. But some basic upkeep and attention to room conditions are really needed to bring the guest experience up to standard. With a bit more focus on maintenance and cleanliness, this place could easily become a solid choice for travelers.
Would I stay again? Maybe—but only if I knew the room conditions had improved.
Every time went to KB, my family must stayed at grand river hotel, because the hotel is near to the river kelantan and my hudsband village , thanks to wan aisyah for the room given to my family is near to each other. The type room we booked is king room with large bed and my family have enough slept at night. My grand children loved the hotel pool very much but a big disappointed because the second day is raining until the night.
Spacious and well-equipped room with essentials like hair dryer, charging ports, and water dispenser. Breakfast has a fair variety but taste is average. Surrounding area lacks convenience stores and food options, but overall a comfortable stay for business trips.
We stayed here over the public holiday break—yes, it was a bit crowded, but that’s understandable. The resort is really close to Pantai Bisikan Bayu, and we enjoyed a nice walk around the area. The pool was a big hit with my niece and nephew—it’s huge, with lots of seating around it. Pool opens at 9am; would’ve loved if it opened a little earlier.
It took me a while to find the shower by the pool, so having a few more or clearer signs would be helpful. In our room, the sink was clogged and the fan wasn’t working—maybe the maintenance team could do regular rounds to check. I may book direct to resort next time as it is cheaper to direct booking. Found out after I had to add another room.
Anyway, we had a good time!
The hotel boasts an excellent location, directly opposite Wakaf Che Yeh Night Market, with numerous shops and amenities surrounding it. However, the parking area behind the hotel is limited and quite cramped. The first room I was assigned was in poor condition; the air conditioning wasn't cooling at all, but thankfully I was able to switch rooms. Cleanliness was an issue; the bed felt quite hard, and the sheets weren't clean. While it might be okay for a single night's stay, it's far from comfortable. The second room was similar, though the air conditioning was slightly better. It was an old unit that cooled very slowly and appeared unmaintained. On the positive side, the hotel staff's service was acceptable. The elevator also had an unpleasant odor. Overall, the cleanliness left much to be desired.
The room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The bed was comfortable, and I appreciated the attention to detail in the room design.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, always ready to assist with a smile. The check-in and check-out process was smooth and efficient.
For families with babies, no fridge in here. Cheap enough for the price though so just an fiy. Then, the exhaust fan in the toilet were very loud (It's link with the toilet light). Would disturb sleep if you're a light sleeper. Advertise for its Muslim friendly, but still no tap water at knee height for easy absolution, there's tap water at the sink, bidet (with the trigger) and a shower head.
Love this hotel service very much. Although the amenities provided are not really complete as there is no swimming pool, this hotel served the guest very well. The staffs are well polite, great us whenever see us. Thumbs up to their roof garden buffet breakfast. Enjoy the yummy and variety choice food beside the scenery view. The scramble egg and mash potato are the best among all the food provided. The check out procedure was super fast. Will stay in Crystal Lodge if I visit Kelantan in the future.
Everything was perfect (for a low budget hotel). Staff sangat friendly, facilities semua sangat nice, memang more than worth the money. Sangat berbaloi ya siap ada gym, laundry n gaming room. Breakfast tak banyak option tapi for RM15 add on is more than enough. So far sangat puas hati and will repeat again for another short trip to Kota Bharu.
