Apartments in Porto District, Portugal

This was a fabulous place to start our trip in Portugal. Our apartment was well appointed and had a magnificent view over the river. It couldn’t have been in a more central place to explore the sights of Porto on foot. There was lots of activity below by the river but all noise stopped at 10pm sharp. The included breakfast had a good selection of food. Our only suggested improvement would be that it starts a little earlier given people often go on day trips. (It starts at 8am.) having said this, they gave us a takeaway breakfast one morning when we had an early start. The staff at the counter were super friendly and helpful.

Centeally located unique accommodations close to everything. #2 is the size of a good studio and has just about everything you need. It does lack a closet area so I had to improvise using a shelf and two chairs for my clothes. I made do. The breakfast was jist right and fresh. The coffee was delicious. The staff was helpful and friendly. There was easy access with a key code. A few things to note besides the closet. There are no blackout shades. There are shutters and they do let in a little light. Also, the laundry is not on sight, however, the laundrymat is near. About 4 blocks. As others have mentioned the noise can be an issue. It quiets down at night but intermittently there and it is at the mouth of a tunnel so at times amplifies! No napsduring the day, unless noise does not bother you. That is an unfortunate downside because it really is a darling place.

Super nice and cozy room, however its supposed to run as Airbnb not a Hotel, you wont get cleaning services during your stay, water for the first day even and the communication to access on checkin is troublesome-like airbnb. - Checkin/out: They didnt send the checkin information in advance, and expecting you to write them an email to get it (when you dont expect to do so for a hotel-services) - same on checkout. Hope they received the email I sent via trip.com - Room type: The room isn’t the same as in the room photo when you booked, its another one. The one we stayed has no sofa and balcony. - No water even on the first day, cook yourself by using the kettle or drink from tap (which not recommended in portugal) - Cleaning: The room is clean and niche, but dont expect any cleaning services during the whole stay. - Noise from the street: mostly day and night as its in very central walking street.

The apartment can get tricky if you need to park to finish the booking process. We parked illegally while signing in. The Spot Hotel was able to accommodate us in terms of finding a garage. So parking was made easier. The apartment is not luxurious but it is quiet, clean and it does the job. Thank God, I was able to sleep with the cushions from the couch. The pillows are the worst. I will let you read other reviews. I, however, want to emphasize how wonderful the staff is (especially the young red head). They will really help you with directions, suggestions, etc. They are the ones that make a hotel okay to a hotel stay that is memorable. Thanks once again to the Staff.

The location of the S.Bento Residences is terrific: across the street from the São Bento Station, the São Bento Metro stop, which has a lift and the Living Tours office, which is the meeting point for day tours to the Douro Valley. The studio we stayed in (line A facing the side of São Bento Station behind the façade of the old original building rather than facing Av. Dom Afonso Henriques) is beautifully decorated and light, as pictured on the website. However, it did seem smaller than the pictures suggest. There are two steps from the entry area to the living space, which was very clean except for the carpet, which is stained. The sofa, side chair and bed are quite low. There’s no closet, just a rail with hangars in the living area. A luggage rack or two would have been nice. The bathroom is very small with almost no room around the sink for toothpaste and toothbrushes. There is some storage under the sink. The shower has a handheld attachment with several settings. The shower partition only partially blocks water, so you have to be careful where it’s directed. The bath towels are lovely: large and thick. However, they are only replaced every three days. Washcloths are not provided so bring your own. Although there’s a washing machine, it cannot be used as a dryer, which would have been handy after we got soaked in a thunderstorm. The staff kindly gave us a drying rack. They patiently answered several questions during the booking process. One thing to watch for: although we had already paid for our entire stay, upon arrival we were asked to pay again. That error was fixed immediately. There’s only a tiny reception area and lift (no lobby). On the ground floor, there’s a trendy-looking burger restaurant that’s opened late, which we didn’t try. Ubers had no problem picking us up or dropping us off at S.Bento Residences.

The house with various apartments is very central and all highlights of the city are to walk. It's all a little nice up and off, but you're used to it. We had a separate apartment around the corner (419) with separate entrance directly on a kind of pedestrian side, through which sometimes a car or moped dust. We often sat with a glass of Vinho Verde right in front of the door and felt very well. The apartment itself is large enough with complete equipment, including kitchen, washing machine and large shower. A few more devices such as the bathroom and a clothes could not damage. Unfortunately, it is quite dark, because there is only a large window in front of which you like to park a car and you cannot open the garden because of the footsteps. The back of the bedroom is a few small windows in a backyard that does not allow daylight. But there are enough lamps. The reception team is just great. They take a lot of time to explain their city and give many tips. In particular when it was about my wife's birthday, they booked flowers and a skillful restaurant. Thank you very much for it. Breakfast is delicious in Morada Brunch, just next to the reception.

The hotel exceeded my expectations. All communication was via *********** and email. When we informed our arrival time we were met by the receptionist. Hotel has a small elevator behind the front desk, which was an extra bonus. The rooms are small, but have everything you might need. A small balcony was a lovely extra. The shower was working efficiently and the hair dryer in the bathroom was strong enough for my thick hair. Not many hangers in the room, but was just enough for a 3 night stay. The hotel location is perfect. Metro 5 minutes away, train station literally a street down and all historical places minutes away. I will definitely recommend to friends and family

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I could not write this review immediately after I arrived home but better late than ever. We stayed in Torel 1884 Suites & Apartments. The prices varied for ea. night but we got a great price due to a special promotion.. Hotel/location: Based on my personal experience this IS an amazing 5* hotel. It is one block from R. das Flores-pedestrian access (ideal for us to avoid its noise) and within walking distance from the city's main attractions. It is pricy but its all-inclusive concept of and excellent buffet breakfast, Wi-Fi, welcome drinks, along with its location, service, etc. it IS amazing and worth every penny. Room: We stayed in room 10 Porcelain Deluxe Double with a bathtub for four nights facing the street, from Sun. May 5 - Wed. May 8, 2024. This room is very spacious, very comfortable bed/pillow, etc. It is facing the street - we were not bothered by the noise, with a very nice view. The only thing we noticed and brought it to the staff's attention, is the bathroom that is dark; there is not sufficient light. However, after discussing it with the staff, they immediately provided extra light and explained to us they are aware of the problem - basically the way it was designed and that steps are being taking to correct it. Staff: This is the 2nd time that we stay in a hotel where all staff members, ALL! are wonderful and get a perfect 10. From the front desk - Debora, Arthur, Iris (who provided directions), Gustavo, Daniel, Tiago (who also provided great info/directions) to the breakfast/dining section: Jorge - excellent attention and courteous, Filipa, Rita, Kath and I apologize if I leave a name out. Recommendation: There are other hotels including 5* for example, In R. das Flores, but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the location of Torel 1884 and for us, it is not only the perfect choice, but if or I should say when we go back to Porto, we without a doubt will definitely stay in Torel 1884 Suites and Apartments again.

This is an apartment-style hotel. According to the hotel staff, the construction began in the 18th century, and the exact date is unknown. Once used as the police station archives, it shouldn't take long to transform it into a hotel. Location: Five stars, walk 2-3 minutes on the right hand to the intersection, left hand downhill is the Louis Bridge, right hand uphill 2-300 meters is the Sao Benedict Railway Station, you can go to Lisbon from this, 2-300 meters forward is the Church of St. Francis , Go to the main attractions within 1000 meters. Settings: Five-star reduction, duplex suite, full Elex wash, kitchen equipment, but less coffee. Breakfast: Four-star, three waiters make on-site, bread, ham, and egg tarts are available. It is quite family-like, not like the variety of hotels.

Except that it was a little hard to find when checking in, everything else was almost perfect. The hotel address is R. de São João 9 21, Porto, Porto District, 4050-551, Portugal, which is No. 9 on this street, but the actual apartment is located at No. 17 (see Figure 1). But this is an apartment, so you have to check in at the front desk of the hotel next door first. The front desk will give you the password to enter the apartment and the specific room key. The location is great, right next to the Porto Bridge. Unfortunately, I couldn't see it from the window. The room is quite large and has a clever design. At first we didn't notice the open kitchen and thought it was just an ordinary closet. But when we opened it, we found all kinds of pots, pans, and cooking utensils. It was a bit like opening a blind box. The bed is very big, about 2 meters. Compared to hotels in Europe, this is very generous.

On arrival, you must go to the reception of the brand's hotel, located at number 29 on the Place de la République, 100 m from the apartments. There you can leave your vehicle in the hotel's private car park for €15 for 24 hours, if a space is available (no reservation). The location allows you to reach the tourist centre on foot in 10 minutes and the Quai da Ribeira in 15 minutes. The studios are on the street side, the T2s are on the courtyard side. The studios are brighter but also more exposed to traffic noise. The apartments are a little darker but quieter. In both cases, there are no curtains so for privacy you have to lower the blind a little (especially on the street side during the week because there are offices opposite). In all cases, ask to be on the highest floor (there are 7). The building is recent and both the decor and the equipment are modern and will satisfy most people. Finally, the price/quality ratio is very good.

First floor unit. Smells of mildew/mold, including the bed sheets. spiders in the corners of the bedroom and a noticeable gnat problem. Bedroom lights also don’t work, It’s a shame because the staff seems so nice! They were the sweetest people, and were willing to accommodate extra people! just the first floor rooms need moisture and pest solutions. The WiFi also cuts off if you try to access it from the bedroom.

Nothing bad to say! We opted for the one bedroom pool view apartment and it was lovely, spacious and well equipped! The room and bathroom was clean with a lovely waterfall type shower. Bed did the job for 3 nights. Pool was clean and non heated as expected from reading previous reviews. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again!

Sophia was at the hotel reception when we checked In. she welcomed us with a big smile and explained effectively the hotel rules. when we came to the room we asked for 2 single blankets for the bed instead the big one. No problem answered Sophia in the reception, and after 2 minutes she came with the blankets, she took the big one, and she herself arranged the blankets in the bad. Later, the bathroom was flooded with water by mistake. We called the reception to Sophia, she came immediately to see, and after 2 minutes she returned with tool and dried the bathroom. We were at the hotel for 3 nights and every time we passed near the reception Sophia was there interested our wellbeing with her big smile. But if you think you've seen everything of Sophia you're wrong . just before we had to do checkout , we got a massage from the airline that out flight back home delayed for tomorrow. sophia told us that the hotel is fully booked , but she took out problem into her own hands and found us another hotel 200 meters away, and then, without asking us, she took in her hands our 2 suitcases, walked with it to the new hotel and we are after her. when we got there we found there is no elevatore and the reception was on the second floor. Sophia raised in her own hands our 2 suitcases upstairs to the reception!!! We are around the age of 70. Sophia is a valuable asset to the hotel. Thank you again Sophia, you are magnificent and as I told you, you have a very very big heart. doron.

We stayed for 3 nights and was amazed by the quality of the apartment. The apartment was perfect and offered lovely views and is only minutes away from the Luís I Bridge and many restaurants. We loved the egg chairs and enjoyed relaxing in them whilst listening to the street performers close by. The breakfast is also great and guests get 10% disc in the cafe. Overall a very nice stay.

The place had an incredible view of the Duoro river, with walking distance to upper and lower Porto, which were unbeatable. The unit also came with its own parking spot few streets down the main building, which is rare to find in Porto. However, the entrance to the apartment is very dangerous as it requires 3 flights of narrow and uneven stairs. There was also a very unpleasant odor in the hallway leading to the apartment, with random ikea bags lined up in the staircase. The apartment itself is very clean, however; it’s very small and tight, which was noticed in the bedroom as the bed barely fit into the room. The bathroom itself required some maintained & attention, as it appeared to have some black mold in the shower or “black silicone” which was mentioned to us by the owner after we shared our concerns reaching to him on a platform. There was also a very unpleasant sewerage smell all throughout the unit, which is possibly from the bathroom pipes. When we reached out to the owner in regards to our concerns after our stay, we were informed that these apartments and building is old due to Porto history and not up to “American” standards. In our opinion, the only good thing about this apartment was view and location. It wasn’t a warm or a welcoming place.
