The place was nice but it wasn’t really close to anything and you have to take the bus or a taxi to get anywhere. There are some nice parks and temples nearby though but it really is in a neighborhood.
The place is nice and peaceful. A good local udon shop is like a short walk away and there’s a gyoza restaurant nearby.
The only issue was that it was not well cleaned. When I filled up the tub, it was full of detritus and upon closer inspection there were long women’s hairs around the rim of the tub. No women were staying there.
The bathroom also had mold on the tub that caused an itchy rash and needed to be bleached to remove it.
The room had not been dusted and there were also issues with hair.
Other than that, the owner was polite and thorough but had asked us to communicate on WeChat, which I didn’t like. They were fine with email though after the first message.

The location of this Kyoto hotel is very good, the transportation is convenient but away from the hustle and bustle, and the environment is quiet and comfortable. The rooms are well-equipped and kept very clean, and it is very safe to live. Although there is no service stay, the overall response is quite timely and the experience is good. There is also a Tsukemen shop nearby, which is especially delicious.

The communication was very good in advance and the stay was very smooth.
The room was very clean, very close to Kiyomizu Temple, set off early in the morning and enjoy the clean Kiyomizu Temple.

I chose this accommodation to experience the squatter house, which is in line with expectations and can accommodate more than six adults.
The place to stay is several streets away from Kyoto Station, and it is in different locations with Sakaya, but the first free connection to Sakaya will be provided at check-in.
Both bedrooms are on the upper floors and the steps are high. If you are with the elderly, you can consider laying tatami mats on the lower floors.

This year, Kyoto's red leaf season ended a little later, and luckily booked a room far below the November price. This door is not big but there is a hole in the sky inside. It feels like there is a townhouse built in 4-5. Our check-in time was relatively late, and the small requirements made to the front desk lady were met. There are two floors, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Our couple is a bit extravagant. It should not be crowded next time we bring our parents again (it is estimated that it is inconvenient for both parents to come). The block is very quiet, not far from Nijo City, about seven or eight minutes from Omiya Station, we dragged our suitcases on the quiet street at night a little embarrassing: D. Overall satisfaction, if the price is right, I will choose next time.

GGuest UserWhat a beautiful place! Kiraku Kyoto Honmachi is a house which has been refurbished with subtle taste and delightful creativity. There’s definitely magic to it! I loved walking on the pebbles in the downstairs bedroom - so soothing for sore feet. There’s also a smooth walkway to the bed if pebbles aren’t your thing. Upstairs there’s a tokonoma with scroll, as well as a full set of equipment for carrying out a tea ceremony, including of course, matcha. The host even had delicious matcha “financiers” waiting for us upon arrival. The outdoor bath is brilliant. It’s quite easy to fill and I’d highly recommend having an outdoor soak every night.
Seeing as some in our group weren’t up for tourism in the city, it was doubly worthwhile to have stayed in such a house where they could breathe in Kyoto atmosphere without ever moving from the tatami!
GGuest UserVery satisfied with the stay experience!
Location: Very close to Kamogawa River and Kyoto Imperial Palace. You can enjoy the scenic spots on foot. However, there are less delicious food in the surrounding area because it is not in a bustling area, but it is only a few kilometers away from the downtown area.
Environment: Very stylish, renovated old wooden house. I live in the largest room No. 1. If possible, I will definitely choose this room. It is larger than the others. There is a shoe-changing porch on the first floor. The living area is on the second floor. The balcony can be directly accessed. See the Japanese garden. I have to praise the courtyard, it is very beautiful and it is very comfortable to sit in the courtyard and have a drink. The room is very big. I love the wooden bathtub with a view and the Japanese-style living room. I feel like it's a waste to stay here.
Service: The service attitude is great, but remember not to bring children under 12 years old‼ ️This is not obvious on the hotel reservation page. My friend brought his seven-year-old child. Fortunately, there was a Chinese-speaking front desk person who helped contact the manager to accommodate. We can check in, but the children cannot go to the restaurant area downstairs. Speaking of restaurants, my favorite is from the afternoon to 10pm, so! have! liquor! water! waived! fee! Are you really not afraid of an alcoholic like me?
The only drawbacks are: the sound insulation is a bit poor, and the sounds from the street in the morning can be heard very clearly. Furthermore, the door frames are generally very low, and anyone over 1.7 meters tall may bump their heads. I bumped them twice a day on average. But don’t blame the hotel, that’s what Japanese architecture is.
Will come again!
GGuest UserHighly recommended for getting authentic and unique experience of staying at the Japanese house. Great location, near to Shoji Dori, a huge shopping street, a short bus ride to Gion and metro station allowing to get to all historical attractions.
The home is really nice, with all necessary amenities, clean and roomy.
Want to specifically mention its interior decorations, really awesome.
Tourist tip: print out your reservation with the home’s address in Japanese to avoid any difficulties with finding your way to the location, you show it to the taxi drivers and they will find the place.
And special thanks to the Team: you are so helpful and friendly!
GGuest UserHighly recommended! A family experience that is very satisfying.
I am very grateful to my friend for recommending this Kyoto Machiya. The double-storey house can accommodate four of us, as well as outdoor baths. Although I only stayed for one night, I will definitely stay again next time I return to Kyoto!

GGuest UserThe hotel is a single-family old Kyoto house, with a small two-story area and complete functions. The front desk and the phone have Chinese service. The reservation communication is very convenient. The front desk and the room are in two places. After the check-in, there is a staff car to the residence. The open-air bathtub experience is great. Enjoy the exquisite Japanese garden. In winter, it is equipped with outdoor heating. The house is not soundproofed for a long time. It will be awakened by the vehicle in the morning, but the whole is still a quiet residential area. If you book, please pay attention to the mailbox. You can reply to the service of a Japanese mattress by email. You need to reply to the email two days in advance. Since there is no timely reply, I didn't experience it! The overall is great. I want to feel the traditional local culture of Kyoto. It is recommended to book here.

CCodedNekoAlthough the accessibility to subway stations and other places was not good, the location of the accommodation was in a residential area, so it had a good local atmosphere. The facilities were good, the service was friendly, and everything was good.
