3-Star Hotels in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan

Hope this review helps fellow travelers: The hotel is conveniently located close to both Tobu Nikko Station and JR Nikko Station (the two stations are separate but only about 100 meters apart). From the bus stop in the small square just outside Tobu Nikko Station, you can catch buses to all major attractions, allowing you to choose your route based on your needs and desired destinations. Shinkyo Bridge is within easy walking distance from the station. In front of JR Nikko Station, there's a designated stop for a free shuttle bus to Edo Wonderland, which takes approximately 30 minutes to reach. However, departures are not very frequent. Edo Wonderland is a theme park with an adult ticket price of 5,800 JPY. We noticed it was primarily frequented by tour groups, so I personally wouldn't highly recommend it for individual travelers. The hotel's photos and videos accurately reflect the actual property. Although our Ctrip booking indicated no breakfast was included, the hotel provided a complimentary set breakfast for each guest. Both the interior and exterior environments are very quiet and peaceful. Overall, this is an excellent choice!

This was my first time for staying in ryokan. This ryokan has such a delight, warming services and very nice hotel staffs. Although I can not speak japanese, the language did not bring me any problems because we could use google translate and some of the innkeeper can speak English. I felt like I stay in my home and very enjoyed interacting with both hotel staffs and shiobara people. Besides, foods there were so delicious. - traditional japanese food: they wrote a welcome note and descriptions of food in paper (in japanese) eg. Fish came from river beside hotel, everything was from local which I really really love it. - local venison(deer meat): must try yakiniku If you wanna avoid chaotic environment in the city, I would reccommend this place because you would feel a part of nature (natural sound is so nice) and you can find a true calm of your soul. We were very surprised because we were only foreigner tourist in the hotel. Thank you innkeeper and staff for caring us. We always miss there when we come back to busy city!

You can see it as soon as you get out of Ashikaga Station. The location is better than other hotels close to Ashikaga Station. Buffet breakfast is included, but there are not many choices. The dining space is not big, so it is free and not caring. The rooms are larger than expected, with enough space to unpack your luggage! There are large supermarkets in the walking circle, and Ashikaga School is a five-minute walk away.

The location is really nice and the public onsen with the beautiful view are fantastic! However, the room was pretty outdated and a bit smelly and could have been cleaner. We booked the more expensive room with the bath where they show the private onsen picture, but unfortunately, the private onsen needs to be booked separately and they will charge us additionally 3100 yen for 50 min. So be aware to select the cheaper room since it's exactly the same as the more expensive room.

The rooms are very new and comfortable. Love the ambience of the sitting area and common 'kitchenette” at the lobby. We picked up breakfast item from the self service corner and many were from the local farms. There are appliances at the kitchenette to heat them up. Free flow of coffee (from the coffee machine), tea and miso soup. Coffee was from a local, sustainable source too.

It is convenient to walk 3 minutes from the station. The hotel also prepared facial masks for women, which is thoughtful. The surrounding environment of the hotel is quiet and relaxing. The price is reasonable and cost-effective.

The rooms were clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable space to relax. The staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. The hotel’s location was convenient, making it easy to access nearby attractions. The breakfast offered a good variety of options, though the quality could be improved slightly. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would consider returning in the future.

I stayed here because it was close to my destination. It was a little more expensive than hotels near the station, but it was a new hotel, so it was very clean, spacious, and had good facilities. The breakfast area was also spacious and comfortable. I stayed for multiple nights, and the menu changed. The entrance and exit are a little narrow, so you need to be careful. The newspaper and coffee service were also appreciated. There are not many washing areas in the women's bath, so you will need to adjust your schedule accordingly.

The boss is very kind, the room is very special, it is recommended to add breakfast and dinner, because it is superb.

We spent three wonderful nights here. The host is very kind and attentive, cooks an excellent breakfast (which he can make vegetarian if needed), and offers a shuttle service to the city center included in the reservation. The rooms are very clean, spacious, and well-equipped. To top it all off, you can even enjoy one of the many private hot tubs. In short, I would have gladly given it a sixth star if I could!
