I had an enchanting two-night stay at this hotel, where the picturesque view of the river from my room added a serene touch to the experience. The included breakfast and dinner were nothing short of fantastic, offering a delightful journey through Japanese cuisine. The attentive service further elevated my stay.
The onsen was a highlight, boasting a spacious interior and a tranquil outdoor area. The immersion in the calming waters was a rejuvenating experience, and the overall ambiance added a profound sense of relaxation to my stay. Highly recommend for those seeking a blend of natural beauty, exceptional food, and attentive service.
The hotel is located at the centre of 黑川溫泉區, which is quite rural so highly recommended to go by car.
The service is excellent! The staff helped us to park the car and take the luggages up the stairs to our Japanese style family room.
We have ordered full board package and both meals are gorgeous.
There are many onsens in the hotel which are non-reserved and private, allowing family to enjoy onsen together. One drawback is that there are many stairs so elderly might have to take it into consideration.
Extremely excellent hotel.
All the staff have a great attitude, take the initiative to take luggage, park on behalf of the car, send luggage to the room, introduce the facilities in the room, be kind and courteous.
Seafood theme for dinner, abalone, octopus, seafood feast, excellent food, elegant restaurant layout.
The bathroom in the room is very large, 11:00check out, the bathhouse is open for 18 hours, very considerate.
The rooms and bathhouse have a first-class view.
Ryokan Yumotoso is in a perfect location in the quaint town of Kurokawa. There are about 12 rooms only, hence its quite a quiet and small establishment. Service staff are all great, and the room view is fantastic looking over the beautiful river. The open onsen also overlooks nature, and private onsens are rustic. As per Ryokans, breakfasts and dinners are included, and so far, we have never been disappointed with food in Ryokans, including Yumotoso. Do note that parking lots are limited, and the lane leading to Yumotoso is rather narrow. Would recommend Yumotoso for its great location, fantastic room view and rustic environment.
This hotel is amazing! I stay with my family and the place is just spotless. Loved the large bathroom two sinks available!
Dont get me started with the outdoor onsen and that was fantastic after a long day of driving.
Breakfast is great and the place is within walking distance to the shopping centers, we end up having dinner at the Kumamoto Food stall.
Cosy place, nice beds, Netflix and YouTube available on the TV, coffee and tea and free amenities for guest to enjoy.
There are many public and private bath to choose from in this ryokan. Plus you can get the kurokawa onsen pass (tegata) which gives you access to 3 external onsens in the town (most ryokans in town are participating) within one year of purchase of the tegata. We didn’t book dinner at the hotel, and used the diner time to try Nonohana お宿 野の花 and Ryokan Konoyu 黒川温泉 旅館 こうの湯, then next morning before breakfast I went to most of the onsens in the hotel, then after breakfast we checked out and tried Miyama Sanso 山みず木別邸 深山山荘, all four places (including this hotel) have amazing onsens and views. We drove so it was easier for us to try onsens far from the hotel, but driving in town wasn’t the easiest given narrow roads. The parking lot is a few minutes walk from the hotel, we kept the key with us for easy move around.
Last week, I stayed at Kurowakaso for one night~~!
First of all, I really, really recommend it👍🏻 Go there a hundred, ten thousand, and a thousand and five hundred times!!
The staff are very kind, and the hot spring facilities and room condition are the best!
I was able to try on traditional Japanese clothes, and the food was especially the best!
The food was really good, and they gave me so much food that I almost burst😂
I was lucky that my group and I were the only ones in the family bath and large bath, so I took pictures, but the hot spring for guests only is also amazing!
It was a good memory~ A lot of Korean tourists are going to Kumamoto these days, so if you're thinking about visiting a hot spring, I recommend this place👻
(By the way, there's a staff member who speaks Korean really well♡)
I really like this hotel. From the moment I parked my car, there were staff members helping to guide and confirm the parking space, accommodation name and country of the traveler. They also helped with the luggage. When I checked in, there was a staff member who could speak Chinese to help confirm (seemed to be *********). There were many staff members who seemed to have different nationalities. When I went in to confirm the reservation, they also gave me matcha and snacks. We booked the Hongye room on the first floor. The room was great and had its own hot spring, so I didn't have to go to the public hot spring. I could soak in it 24 hours a day. There was hot spring water circulating so I could soak in it whenever I woke up. The hotel has two hot spring houses that can be reserved, 40 minutes each time, and each room can make one reservation. The public bath is available at any time without reservation. However, since I have my own hot spring, I didn't go to the public bath or the hot spring house, so I don't know how it works. In addition, I have my own private room for dining and I have to write my name. It feels very noble (but it seems that only some room types have private rooms).
Dinner was great, every dish was delicious (except dessert XD), the appetizers were exquisite and delicious, the sashimi was also very sweet, I thought the grilled fish would have a lot of bones, but it was not separated well, and finally we had the red beef shabu-shabu, the meat was tender and the soup was sweet. Breakfast is a large grilled salmon set with salad and hot spring tofu. There is also a self-service beverage bar and natto seaweed desserts outside. There is also all-you-can-drink Aso milk. Remember not to buy it here, just drink it for breakfast XD.
The overall stay was great, the staff were friendly, I strongly recommend booking a room with one night and two meals and a hot spring, it's not much different, the hot spring and dinner are worth it. I regret not leaving more time to enjoy this hotel because my schedule was too full. Next time I come to Aso, I will definitely come again and leave more time to enjoy it.
It is an old-style hot spring hotel with friendly front desk staff. It is an environmentally friendly hotel. If you stay for more than two nights, you can choose not to clean it. The waiter will put clean towels in a bag and hang it at the door of the room. Breakfast and dinner are not bad. The location is convenient, opposite the famous Aso milk restaurant, the price is medium to low, it is worth choosing.
I truly enjoyed my stay at Yamamizuki. I wish I had stay for another night. Service from everyone there was heartwarming. Room was clean and spacious. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Not to mention the huge open air onsen was the best of all. The onsen was by the creek. Be careful the temperature was quite high. They have English speaking staff.
Only one little thing. There seemed to be a shortage of towels (?). I accidentally got my large bath towel wet and would like to exchange another one. However, I was told to hang the towel dry because each guest can only have one bath towel. I just thought hotels in general have lots of towels. It’s not a big deal though. I’d suggest to bring at least one of your own large bath towels to Kurokawa Onsen.
I believe this is one of the best onsens in Kurokawa. I’d love to come again during autumn!

Very Good
GGuest UserThe weather was very nice and the sunset was beautiful.
It was Golden Week and the price was 58,000 yen for two people.
I was looking forward to the food, but they didn't even serve spiny lobster.
For about 20,000 yen per person per night, I would be happy with the dinner.
I made the reservation about a month in advance, and it was a room facing the mountain.
When I made the reservation, I wasn't able to specify the type of food or the room.
I had a vague idea of the price, 58,000 yen for two people with two meals.
The service and the hotel's attitude were good, so the dinner was very disappointing.
HHIU WAISuper impressive dinner! Sashimi, especially naked tuna, is unbeatable! Sukiyaki&Shabu Shabu Wagyu, so thick and juicy!
Then, try Tenara & Fried Fish! I really can’t eat enough!
Dessert fruits again! Full to the throat!!!!!
The portion for breakfast the next day was just right! tasty!
The open-air private bath is a carbonated spring with no sulfur smell. I soaked in it four times and it was super comfortable!
I really want to go back~
KKeweisishidakaiA small villa with its own door and yard. The room we booked this time faces a rice field. The experience of the private hot spring in the room and the public hot spring are different, but both are special enjoyments. Recommended!
AAW7The service staff was very friendly, we received us at the main entrance when we arrived by car, helped with our luggage, led us into the restaurant, and introduced us to various ingredients and cooking methods. The cooking method for dinner is very special, setting up a fire on the sand and barbecuing, the taste is very unique. After the meal, lead us to the room and explain one by one, very professional. The location is relatively remote, but it can be regarded as a feature. The hotel has a public bath, but we didn't go because there is a private bath in the room and the water temperature is very comfortable. Compared with other high-priced brand hotels, the price is really first-class, but the location is really remote.
GGuest UserWe were kind to you when you contacted me by phone, check-in, check-out and meals.
The food and dinner breakfast were very delicious and satisfying.
thank you for your help. Thank you very much.
I wanted to make a reservation if I could explain the rental hot spring.
