I stayed in the new building, and was very satisfied with how clean and spacious the room was.
The breakfast had a great variety and was delicious.
I'd like to stay here again next time I visit Imabari.
Thank you!
It's within walking distance of Dogo Onsen. The slope is a bit steep, so using the shuttle bus would be even more convenient. You can visit Isanami Shrine from the hotel without having to climb a steep slope (enter from the parking lot entrance).
The hot spring water was just the right temperature and felt great. Apparently, you could see Matsuyama Castle from the open-air bath (although I can't see it because I have poor eyesight). The twin room was a bit small, but there was plenty of space to spread out my luggage. It would be nice to have a place to store my suitcase (you'll have to place your suitcase or backpack directly on the floor).
The breakfast buffet was also extensive and delicious! My favorites were the French toast and the sea bream rice dish (or sea bream chazuke).
Excellent value for money, although the breakfast is a little thin, but the room is large and comfortable, the hot spring is good, the service is very good, the price is cheap.
The hotel is not close to Dogo Onsen street and you will need to drive or get a taxi if you want to go there. There are no restaurants or shops nearby the hotel. There is a walk nearby the hotel you can take which offers nice scenery in the woods. The hotel looks a bit dated particularly the bedrooms and the corridors. I asked for a quiet room facing the mountain instead of one facing a busy road and had to pay an additional 2200 yen. The hotel has a number of onsens and I like the outdoor ones best. The buffet dinner and breakfast offer good selection and I particularly like the dinner which offered nice teppanyaki beef and sushi.
The hotel reception staff spoke very little English and the hotel did not reply to an email I sent them asking for transportation information to get to the hotel.
There are buses near the hotel which go to Matsuyama and Imabari but they run infrequently.
The hotel is located in Shikokuchuo City, just two minutes from the nearest JR station! Drivers are also super convenient—all of Shikoku's capitals are within about an hour's drive!
The hotel is well-equipped, the rooms are clean, and the upper floors offer panoramic views of Shikokuchuo City.
There's also a 24-hour convenience store right at the entrance of the hotel—perfect for late-night snacks!
*As of June 2025, the hotel parking lot is still under renovation. Guests will need to use the government parking lot 150 meters from the hotel (overnight parking fee: ¥300).
This hotel is located on the top of a mountain and was designed by Tadao Ando. There are seven rooms in total, one per floor, including the new building and the main building. Because we arrived late today, the hotel left four staff members to serve us. They had been emailing us to inquire about the arrival time and whether we had food allergies. They were very caring and meticulous. We booked a semi-open-air hot spring forest room. The room is large, but the decoration style is very Andou style. The room has a private bath but it is not open-air, two bathrooms, and a mini bar with various drinks. The Ehime orange juice is very delicious. The whole hotel is Andou Tadao's gallery. The main features are spaciousness, natural light, concrete, and basement. It is a mini version of Chichu Gallery in Naoshima.
