Berlin Motels

I have spent two weeks in Berlin, and this was the cheapest accommodation I could find. It has been definitely a surprise: a big room, very quiet, good internet connection and a very friendly staff. The breakfast (included in the price) is ok, the restaurant has only a few options for vegetarians (tagliatelle all'arrabbiata and salads), but portions are big and the price is OK. The S-Bahn station is a 15 minutes walk, because in between there is a busy motorway. The round part of the building used to be the race control tower of a motor racing circuit until 1998, and you can still feel the glorious past of it.

Basic but clean hotel in a good location in  neukölln. It’s more like a hostel than a hotel, there is never anybody at the reception. So better have a cell phone ready to contact anyone if you need assistance.  when I arrived in the evening (you can check in until 10 pm) nobody was at the reception to open the door and I didn’t have a cell phone.

Located in Berlin (Treptow-Köpenick), Down Town Motel is within a 5-minute drive of Mueggelsee and Köpenick Rathaus. This motel is 12.1 mi (19.5 km) from East Side Gallery and 12.5 mi (20.1 km) from Mercedes-Benz Arena.Take in the views from a terrace and a garden and make use of amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access.At Down Town Motel, enjoy a satisfying meal at the restaurant.The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Located in central of Berlin, this is probably the tallest hotel in town. They have a really nice view over the city. Very convenient with metro and all the restaurants and shops around. Rooms are clean but if you live high up, it’s hard to get mobile signal. Wifi doesn’t work so well when a lot of people are using it. One of the biggest issue if you live higher than 20th floor, the elevator won’t stop at your floor for so long. Not sure how the elevators work, you may have to wait 10 mins for getting down to lobby at busy hours (etc lunch/ dinner hour) Check in was easy and quick, and staff is friendly also.

The breakfast was excellent. I drink tea a lot and there were a variety of tea I could choose and I could choose to brew a cup or a pot of tea. They served different kind of eggs, including omelets. The room is very clean and well equipped with coffee maker and kettle.

Next to HB Biergarten and Alexandraplatz Station. Good spread for breakfast, however, the menu barely change over 7 seven days. Just be aware that there are no amenities (toothbrush, kettle, fridge, cup for hot beverages), so do bring your own. Wifi connectivity is excellent throughout the hotel. Avoid arriving on Sunday, as most shops will be closed.

I spent one night in this 4-star establishment located near Potsdam Square and well served by public transport. When I arrived, the reception was very cold, really not up to what is expected of this type of establishment, The hotel also needs a major facelift. Regarding the services offered, I was able to take advantage of the sauna but its opening hours are very limited (from 5 to 8 p.m. only), As for the bedroom, it was quite large, the bathroom had a bath and a shower, the bedding is of good quality but the cushions need to be changed as soon as possible (too soft ).. The breakfast was of good quality.

Changed to this hotel due to it's location. It's a few minutes walk from the sub way and 40 minutes walk to Aleksandraplatz

I stayed only two nights at a&o Berlin Mitte with Contiki, the stay was comfortable. The four-share rooms were very small and a bit tricky to fit our four suitcases. We also had a run-in with staff at the front desk. For a four-share room, we only got two keys. When a member of our group asked for a spare key, she was denied then given a temporary card and was rudely told to bring it right back - but how could she get back into the room to bring it back??? Others in our tour had the same experience. Besides that, the breakfast was great.

This is not my first time staying at A&O Berlin. I have been there prior and immediately after the pandemics too. During this time, the quality of the service has been steady and a good one. The staff rather amicable and prompt to help with any issue you may have. Sometimes things do not work as expected (coffee machine, contactless purchases) but they will guarantee your stay is a smooth one. Breakfast is abundant and provide several options. I only wish the coffee could be better, but all in all is not bad. Also, maybe rooms could do with a bit of cheering up colour, besides the ones provided by the curtains. What I like the most about this hostel is the consistency with the chain principles and the fact that you will find all you need for a good stay, even tissues!
