The hotel is beautiful but falling apart. Warnings of water shortages should be on the website to warn others as no drinking water is given and the water for shower and bathtub is very limited. Only 2 towels for a family of 4. Very crowded with conferences every day. Not impressed. Payment in advance was not forwarded to hotel and they kept asking us to pay again. Finally a manager let us email them and they will be in contact.
Pros: Location good,,Staff is friendly...process of booking easy..
cons: no landline phones in the room.. The towels are not very clean (at least to my standard), and some towels are torn... Cleaning stuff doesn't really clean the room when you are still living there(or that was my experience).... no toothbrush in the rooms. The worst hotel experience I (Personally) have ever been for a 4 STAR hotel..
so, it doesn't deserve to be a 4 star hotel (For me)..

The room layout is beautiful and the front desk welcomes you warmly. The service staff took the initiative to deliver the luggage to the room. The hotel is located next to the Orange River and has beautiful views from the window. It is the first choice in Upington. Thanks Protea Hotel by Marriott for a great trip.
I really enjoyed my stay at Desert Palace. There is so much to do there. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The only issue I had was that I was given a packed lunch containing meat when I asked for a veggie meal. But apart from that, everything was perfect!

Excellent hotel. It is 7 km from Apington. Closed cozy area where the antilops run, part of the territory has been turned into a jungle. Rooms are cozy, with water no problems, parking on the territory.
В общем, очень советую.
I was booked into the Garden Court in error as I normally stay at Protea in Kimberley which is a lovely hotel but where food is always a challenge for a vegetarian and the service is appalling. So, to begin with I was not happy but they surpassed my every expectation. My non-smoking room seemed to have had a smoker in it the day before who had cheated. I reported this to management who offered to move immediately me but I was tired, it was Sunday night at 19h00 and I said we could work it out the next day. They had the place cleaned from top to bottom the next morning and so thoroughly that when I returned and went to pack to move rooms, I could not smell a thing. So I stayed. That aside, what a treat! The staff were amazing, helpful, friendly and a delight. The breakfast team gave me the most delicious veggie breakfasts (I don’t eat eggs) I have ever had! Sometimes I would run by 10 minutes before breakfast was closing and they would pull off a miracle for me. Wonderful friendly, interested and passionate service. Truly rare. That brings me to The Spur on the premises. Being vegetarian it never occurs to me to go to the Spur because it is traditionally a steakhouse. Well was I in for a treat, the Spur offers so many vegetarian options that I was blown away. After fighting with the Protea to try and get food out of them for years, it was such a pleasure to be presented with so many options I literally could not fit them all in over four days try as I may. What a pleasure. My room was comfortable, the WiFi worked, the staff were brilliant right down to the lovely man at security who saved my special parking for me everyday and took my temperature. The fitness centre was wonderful and the pool a treat since it was very hot. The only thing I would add was that they don’t offer any body lotion in their toiletries which I did miss but that was nothing that a quick visit to clicks couldn’t fix. I will definitely be going back for the spectacular service and the Spur! Who would have known🙃
I stayed for a few days and felt good. The hotel staff were very welcoming and the breakfast was good.

AAnonymous UserThe stay at Springbok Inn was lovely. The officials at the Inn was really helpful, solved a room problem very quickly, the waiters in the restaurant were also very friendly and helpful.
The food in the restaurant was really well prepared and one could eat as much as you liked. The waiters were very thoughtful to come to your table and ask if there is anything they could further assist you with or if you still wed something on your food plate & they would also inform few minutes before the closing time of the restaurant for the guests.
The location of the Inn is well set and there are no noise pollution of some sort to disturb the guests peace and quiet time. It is easy to find the hotel at night and during the day.
Things they may attend to is: The outside air conditioning (makes noise at night), attend to the maintenance of bathrooms and the doors of it. The single beds are quite small and maybe slightly be attended to in the future for bigger 3 quarter bed.
Overall was the service delivery satisfying and I will recommend a person to stay there and I will also stay their again.
Great Job!!!👏👏👏
See you again!

GGuest UserThe place is very clean, modern and with good service. But I feel it could be more convinient for those staying for few days if they could add carport at the parking and zinc in the rooms just to wash coffee mugs or glasses as it doesn't feel right when you need to re use your coffee mug but no washing point in the room. You cannot wash eating utensils in the bathroom.

YYaoyaoKimberley was a city that emerged from gold mining in South Africa, so this hotel has a history of 100 years. Picture one is the appearance of the hotel that year, and Picture two is the appearance of the hotel now. The floor has not changed, but the corridor has disappeared. There are many hotel rooms, which is the most rooms I have ever stayed in this trip. The hotel has parking, WiFi, authentic Western breakfast, although not very rich, but the omelet tastes good. The photo of the room is not up, because after all, the history is long, the facilities are aging, the floor is creaking, can not bear to expose, but it is no problem to live for one night. The room originally arranged at the front desk was on the road. I was afraid of the noise of the vehicle passing by. The front desk changed me to a quiet room that was not on the road.
