I was initially concerned about the walk to the subway station, but to my pleasant surprise, there was a bus stop right downstairs from the hotel. Direct buses to major attractions (like Sannenzaka/Ninenzaka, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace, and the Tamako Market filming location) were readily available, running every ten minutes. This made getting around incredibly convenient, and I didn't take the subway at all during my four-day stay in Kyoto, relying entirely on buses.
Since I tend to tire out quickly, I would return to the hotel to rest after visiting each attraction, ending up going back and forth to the hotel three times a day. In the evenings, after dinner, I enjoyed leisurely strolls back to the hotel from the Kamo River. It truly made for a very relaxed and unhurried trip.
Both Nishiki Market and Kyoto Daimaru are within comfortable walking distance. That area is indeed a bustling part of Kyoto, where a straight walk down one street can lead you to the Kamo River, Yasaka Shrine, and Gion Hanamikoji, offering a plethora of restaurants and bars.
The room features a separate entryway. Inside, there's a sliding door that can be closed at night to enhance sound insulation, though the room's soundproofing was already excellent; I couldn't hear a single sound. The bathroom has a wet/dry separation, and both the toilet and shower areas were impeccably clean. The most thoughtful gesture was when I accidentally threw a broken umbrella into the trash; the housekeeping staff noticed it, retrieved it, and left it neatly beside the bin. Whenever I encountered cleaning staff in the hallway, they were always very polite and greeted me with a smile. The lobby offered complimentary self-serve lemonade, coffee, and matcha. Overall, a very satisfying stay.

The rooms are typically small, but the hygiene is excellent. You can do your laundry, but getting a slot is tough; I suggest going early in the morning for the wash and dry, though I could never wake up that early myself. The hotel's location is good, with a direct bus to Kyoto Station. There's no breakfast, but you can grab a meal at Sukiya right outside, which is pretty good value for money. If the hotel were a bit cheaper, it would be great, but for weekend prices, I'd probably look elsewhere.

Our second stay here was quite a rollercoaster!
1. Even though it was pricier than a standard room, the hotel provided a larger room with four beds as requested, so the kids didn't have to worry about mom and dad not being around at night. (Happy 😊)
2. We noticed the Shinkansen (bullet train) noise was a bit loud at night, and the children had trouble sleeping until after midnight when it quieted down. (Concerned 😞)
3. The next morning, the hotel front desk promptly helped us switch to a lower-floor room on the other side, where the noise would be much less. Since they needed to set up four beds, we agreed to check in around 6 PM. (Happy 😊)
4. However, when we returned to the hotel at 8 PM the next day, we found only two beds. It seemed like they might have forgotten to arrange the extra beds. (Uh-oh 🥲)
5. After realizing the issue, the front desk promptly upgraded us to a huge room on the top floor (one level up) for free! (Excited 😆)
6. Room 124, the new one, was fantastic, though we did find a previous guest's small handkerchief behind the curtain. (Awkward 🤦)
Overall, it's still a pretty good hotel with excellent staff. We've stayed here two years in a row when visiting Kyoto, so I can definitely recommend it.

This hotel deserves only an excellent mark.
The hotel is situated just one metro station from Kyoto Central Station, which is very convenient. The metro station is just 100 meters away from the hotel entrance. The hotel is surrounded by a lovely park. When I arrived, there was a book fair—lots of cheerful students, kiosks with different types of food, etc. Additionally, there is a Starbucks café and a 24/7 FamilyMart next door. The Hotel offers a laundry self-service. Theare are washing mashines with a drying fuction on the 2nd floor.
The front desk personnel are very polite and speak English well. When I arrived in the morning, the manager offered to store my luggage before check-in time.
When I entered my room, I instinctively checked if it was really a 4-star hotel, because it looked like a real 5-star hotel—spacious room with design details, a spacious bathroom unlike other Japanese hotels, and other features that make the room look luxurious (check the photos). Additionally, I would like to point out the perfectly working air ventilation. Unlike other Japanese hotels, which have air conditioning in the rooms, this hotel has supply ventilation that works very gently—no sound, no ice-cold drafts, just a soundless flow of fresh air.
I believe that the Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Umekoji is a perfect place to stay in Kyoto.

Nice room with small space ! We love the location! Walkable to the main Kyoto station! * There's no Lobby and space for deposit the luggages you need to use coin locker outside till the check-in time! Because at the check-in counter it should be Lobby but they do the gift shop. For us everything was ok but only just the luggages issue! And highly recommend for everyone who traveling with small luggages ^^ enjoy Kyoto guys!

Loved this cozy and delightful capsule hostel.
It’s just north of Nijo Castle and about a 15 min walk to the closest subway station. (Local not a JR Station) It’s about a 15 min walk from the Kyoto Palace and Gardens - just continue down the main road that fronts the premises.
The deluxe cabin rooms are tucked away in the Basement level for additional quiet and privacy.
There are multiple floors with capsule beds and shared bathroom facilities. There’s a laundry and common room on the 6th floor.
Guests can grab all their essentials from the Family Mart or 7-Eleven just a 3 mins stroll from the front door. They also have ATMs and copying facilities.
The staff are helpful and can speak reasonably good English. There is a wall of maps for major attractions close by.
Loved the experience and will gladly recommend and return

Our absolute favorite hotel in Kyoto, Japan – we were extremely satisfied! Meals were super convenient with a convenience store and supermarket right outside the door, which we visited daily. The subway station was just a five-minute walk away. The hotel's hot spring was its most unique feature; it's so rare to find a hotel with one. We'll definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Kyoto.

Please be aware of the staff who ask for cash payment for the hotel's tax when you check in. We paid by cash, but my credit card was charged again. I informed the hotel manager about it and told them to check the CCTV for the dishonest staff, but they didn't take any action about it. How can you feel safe and for your personal belongings if you're staying at a hotel that hires dishonest staff and the hotel manager is not taking action to the staff who's scamming the customer? Don't be a victim!

It was quite a walk from the main station but there is a bus stop nearby so it’s not that bad. There were convenience stores and a whole street of food just right outside the hotel which made dining out very convenient.
The staff was nice and the interior was clean and neat too.
Just to note the air was really dry so do consider bringing a portable humidifier if you’re sensitive with that. They also do housekeeping once every 3 days but you can just ask them for new towels and leave your rubbish outside your door for them to clear!

This was our favourite hotel in Japan.
The location is very central to Kyoto, but did not feel too crowded and overwhelming. It was very easy to get around Kyoto from this hotel, with a lot of train stations close by.
The room was clean and bigger than most hotels I’ve stayed in during my trip to Japan. The finishes of the room are just gorgeous. It really feels like luxury. The smart TVs were a nice touch too.
The amenities of the spa were really good, and I loved the extra feeling of security knowing women receive a women only key card and men receive a separate one. Nice touch having washers, dryers and vending machines too.
The staff are kind and polite and are more than happy to assist you. Although I did find the self check-in a bit confusing - some translations were a bit off. Regardless, I really recommend this hotel.

Very Good
11360173****The room was quite spacious, about 20 square meters, so there was plenty of space to lay out luggage without any worries. The bathroom was also a good size with a separate wet and dry area. However, I didn't use the shower there as I went to the large public bath on the 9th floor instead. Soaking in it was a great way to relieve the fatigue of a day of travel. The hotel is conveniently located right next to a bus stop, offering easy access to places like the National Museum, Ichiran Ramen (Shijo branch), and Shinshindo Bakery (Shijo branch).
XXingfudeyanyanI was extremely satisfied with my stay this time. The room was prepared exactly as I requested, which I really appreciated. My room included executive lounge access, offering snacks, drinks, coffee, tea, and alcohol – a great place to sit and relax. The room facilities were meticulously maintained, and all appliances were quiet. My only minor complaint was the hairdryer, which was a bit old-fashioned and took a long time to dry my hair. The hotel staff, including the front desk and shuttle service, were exceptionally professional, very considerate, and provided excellent, personalized service. The shuttle bus stop at Kyoto Station is located behind the station, near the Hachijo East Exit, in the area where taxis and buses pick up passengers. It runs conveniently from 8 AM to 8:30 PM. You can see the exact location in my last two photos.

DDreamscomeTrueVery nice ambience and a new luxurious hotel in Kyoto close to the 清水寺。 Restaurant choices are quite limited inside the hotel complex but they have got a great spa with excellent service staff. Down the hill should be some international restaurants at Park Hyatt Kyoto another luxurious five star hotel. Breakfast bento boxes not too appetising and not much food selections for in room dining as well. But the neighbourhood was quiet and nice.
RReneehuangHighly Recommended Stay in Kyoto
I would like to strongly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto. The staff demonstrate exceptional professionalism and hospitality.
In particular, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Miss Yuki, who assisted us with our check-in and kindly introduced many wonderful sightseeing spots and activities in Kyoto, as well as to Miss Tsai, a ********* staff member who supported us during check-out with great warmth and care. Their thoughtful service truly reflects the welcoming spirit of Kyoto and the hotel’s commitment to excellence.
I am genuinely impressed by the quality of the team members who bring guests happiness and satisfaction through their dedication. They truly deserve recognition and applause for their outstanding service.
Our two-night stay was far too short, and we are already looking forward to returning in the near future.
TTinaI really like this hotel; it's a quiet oasis in a bustling area. The transportation is very convenient, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. There's a noodle shop right behind the hotel that always has a long line. To the left of the noodle shop, across the street, there's a drugstore where you can park your husband at the hotel and shop to your heart's content. You can find almost anything that's out of stock on Xiaohongshu there. The room was much larger than the ones I stayed in Osaka, and it even had a microwave and a washing machine, so you could have breakfast right in your room. However, I definitely don't recommend the hotel's breakfast; for over 100 RMB, you just get scrambled eggs, and the taste is questionable.
GGuest UserNice neighbourhood, with familymart just steps away from the house. Great house with hotspring. Enjoyed the evening with families. Had a good breakfast provided by the hotel. If we have enough time, would like to explore the neighbourhood in the daytime next time. Great stay.

EEuynait-ZXRight across the street from Kyoto Station after crossing one traffic light – the location is unbeatable! The hotel offers free self-service luggage lockers, and there are plenty of complimentary toiletries available for guests to pick up on the first floor. Each floor has coin-operated washing machines, and you can even check their status on the TV. The front desk on the first floor can exchange coins, and their service is excellent; they immediately understood what I needed and enthusiastically helped me exchange my banknotes.

__ZFB208800297398****The location is great for transportation. Even though we arrived a bit early, they weren't rigid about the 3 PM check-in time and our room was ready, which was a pleasant surprise. The room felt very comfortable, despite not being very large. The bathroom was a bit small. Being directly across from Kyoto Station made getting around incredibly convenient.
Just a small suggestion: it would be great if they could add Alipay and WeChat Pay options for the laundry machines (as coins aren't accepted either), in addition to credit cards.
Oh, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming!

GGuest UserThe hotel was excellent! We really enjoyed the traditional tatami beds and also booked a private onsen. Both offered great value for money. The location is super convenient, just 400 meters from the station, with a plethora of dining options, supermarkets, and shopping malls right nearby. Getting around was a breeze! The hotel staff provided incredibly warm and fantastic service. We'll definitely be back!

RRizhaomengnvMy absolute favorite in Japan! The staff member at the front desk was incredibly friendly. All the water in the hotel is filtered and potable, which is a fantastic perk! My single room had excellent soundproofing and great blackout curtains – so much so that I even overslept and missed check-out the next day! I rushed out, forgot my room card, and the staff member patiently helped me out. I promise I won't be so silly next time! Highly recommended! The location is also fantastic, just about ten meters from the subway entrance – incredibly convenient! (Didn't manage to snap photos of the hotel itself, so here are a few from Kyoto instead!)
