Although it’s a bit far to the Kyoto train station, if you know how to take the bus, there are 3 bus stops + 1 Shijouoomiya train station which are really closed to this hotel (only 6 to 10 mins walk), which can lead you to anywhere of the tourist spots !! 👍🏻 hotel located in a quiet street which gives you a well sleep at night. 😴The hostel of this hotel are helpful, they helped us to return our kimono via the local post since we are rush in time to travel around. 📤 They replied the email daily and fast, at the first day we couldn’t find their reception to check in (Just found out it’s a self check system that they had already sent you a password to your email earlier). 📧 They helped us to take care of our luggage after we check out our room, as we were going to nearby spots after the living. All the facilities and equipment are clean, you can tell they had mopped the floor, clean anywhere of the kitchen, restroom and sleeping room all the way around and leaving with no dust. 🪣👍🏻 my conclusion is, I will definitely come back to book their hotels, their signature brand “Risshisha”, next time when I come back to travel again. Once again, thank you for your 5 stars services !! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

The place has an excelente location, easy to get there. The room was cleaned and organized. However, there is no person at the front desk to ask questions or ask for help. The code for entering to the room was sent by SMS, but since we were traveling the service for SMS of our phone company does not work outside our country, so we did not receive the message since we were traveling. They do not have an e-mail address, so the check in instructions could not be send there. When we arrived to the place was late and we found the front desk empty even though we still arrived in the front desk service hours. We had a hard time contacting the hotel but luckily could get some help in calling the administration to get our room number and the code.

This was such a nice hotel! Everything was perfectly clean, and I felt very comfortable during my stay. I think this is the nicest place I have stayed in recently. I was glad that everything was clean and well-organized. They tell you everything you need to know in a little folder in your room. They also answered my questions very quickly and kindly. The best parts for me were that the heating and water heater worked, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spotless, and they explained everything I was curious about in detail in the folder, on signs, or in email communications. One thing I didn't know until I got here is that there is a shared microwave, which is nice when you get food from the convenience store.

The hotel is very new, the decoration materials are also very sophisticated, and the quality is high. The rooms are also very large compared to conventional hotels in Japan. It is a five-minute walk from Shijo Station and Karasuma Station on the two subway lines in Kyoto, making it easy to get in and out. Although the hotel does not provide breakfast, the Lawson convenience store downstairs can solve the breakfast problem. It is highly recommended as the first choice for accommodation in Kyoto.

Let me talk about the size of the room first. Compared with the average Japanese business traveler, this room can be described as super comfortable. There is no sense of oppression. The room facilities are all well equipped, and there should be some, because we go in winter, and there is also a big terrace. Warm stickers are provided, but we just happened to have prepared ourselves so we didn’t take the position. It was in the middle of the Shijo and Wujo stations. If you are pulling luggage, you should pay attention to which exit has an elevator, or you will have to go up the stairs yourself.

Stayed with my mother for 3 nights in a two-person room. The room was simple and comfortable. I liked to climb the stairs to the bed. The only downside of the room is a bit awkward. The staff is very kind and kind, often smiling and willing to help. The breakfast is very rich and delicious! Absolutely praise! The shared bathroom in the underground, the shower is very powerful, and the water is very hot, very comfortable, and can relieve the fatigue of the day. As for the location, it is not bad, you can walk to convenience stores, supermarkets, bus stops, subways and lively shopping streets, etc., about 15 minutes.

We went in 2014, and spent three weeks on a trip that took us from Tokyo with Kyoto, Osaka, Takayama and Hiroshima being the main centres we visited. As usual we didn't go on a commercially-run tour and - having done all the research thoroughly before we left Australia - we managed our own tour. Our Japan Rail Passes were such a boon !! Kyoto, as the ancient capital, was a vital segment on this trip and so our choice of accommodation was very important. This little place was central to everything we wanted to visit in Kyoto, and we were taking a friend who really preferred cruise boats and was nervous about travelling around for this length of time by land (she genuinely LOVED it) and so we deliberately didn't choose a more traditional style of Japanese accommodation: a bit disappointing for us as we would have preferred that. It was within walking distance of the Imperial Palace, and close to major cross-city bus routes - so very central to the places we wanted to visit, like the masses of cherry blossoms along the river. It was very comfortable and warm, and facilities were great. Staff were young, friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if we were to return to Kyoto

Staying at the Star Hotel was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is located in a quiet alley. There are friendly ladies who can speak Chinese. It only takes a few minutes to walk from the hotel to Sanjusangendo. The entrance ticket only accepts cash. If you forget, you can exchange it at the Familymart self-service machine at the entrance of the alley (just a few steps away from Sanjusangendo). There is a McDonald's at the entrance of the alley, opposite It is a subway and bus station. It is very convenient to go to Hanamikoji, Gion, Shichijo Shopping Street, and Kyoto Station. There is Don Quixote in Yotobashi at Kyoto Station🤣

This is what happened to me. I booked through booking.com, they confirmed everything and even charged the full price of the reservation 7 days before check-in. On check-in day, they sent me a message saying they had some issue and I would not be able to check in and have to find somewhere else to stay. Imagine me, coming from a foreign country, currently on the shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto at that point, which was 10pm. There was nothing I could do, I tried to tell them they had to honor the booking and let me check in. They still refused. I had to escalate the issue to booking.com, which cancelled my reservation and promised to make the hotel refund me. Guess what, they never did! After that they simply ignored all my messages and never refunded my money, for a stay that never happened, because of their own dishonesty and irresponsibility. My vacation was ruined from the stress of finding a new place to stay at midnight, and so was my subsequent month trying to chase this refund. These people should go to jail. P/S: don’t even try removing my review. I have it as a note, I will repost until I die. Because people like you should never be able to scam people again. Shame on you.

It was clean, but the shared space is a bit uncomfortable for women. There seems to be a women-only floor, but I didn't know about it when I made the reservation and only found out after I got there. I told them I wanted to use the shower room (even if I had to pay extra), but they said it was not possible, so I felt uncomfortable using the shared shower room and didn't use it. I wish it was written a bit more clearly. Men were also surprised to see women there, so I don't think it was comfortable for either of them.
