Cathedral Peak Hotel
"My kids described Cathedral Peak Hotel as their best holiday ever! From scenic hikes and exciting horse riding adventures to thrilling quad biking and a fantastic kids' play area, there was never a dull moment. And last but certainly not least, the amazing food was the perfect finishing touch to an unforgettable family getaway."
Nauntons Guest House & Wedding Venue
"We slept over for one night We were warmly received, very good service, beautiful rooms and a delightful breakfast the next morning. I would recommend Nauntons anytime Thanks. Johann Smith"
Cayley Mountain Resort
"We had a well rested and peaceful week. The apartment was beautiful and spacious. I'm disappointed that we didn't have a balcony and the braai area was inside the house. Spend the day at the beach club the kids had fun but there were limited activities for us (the pedal boat were not working). We also did afternoon boat cruise, the skipper was knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed the pap and relish it was divine. Dragon was helpful with the kids and braaing. We are definitely coming back."
Little Switzerland Resort by Dream Resorts
"Good value for money. Self catering with a cozy fireplace. The restaurant was well prepared. Daily menu's with nice options to choose from. Staff was welcoming and professional. Table setting with several good options. Prices very reasonable."
Aha Alpine Heath Resort
"The place was nice and environment was tranquil and very relaxing. The staff was very accommodating and efficient."
Spion Kop Lodge
"WE WENT THERE TO CELEBRATE OUR 56TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. OLD BUILDING BUT EXCELLENT AMBIANCE AND NICE SHADED PARKING. THE ROOM WAS HUGE AND THE SHOWER WAS GOOD WITH NICE HOT WATER. THE BEST PART OF OUR STAY WERE THE EXCELLENT DINNERS WITH STEAK THE FIRST NIGHT AND LAMB CHOPS THE SECOND NIGHT COOKED TO PERFECTION. LOVELY THREE COURSE MEAL. WE FURTHER ENJOYED OUR OUTING TO THE SPIOENKOP BATTLEFIELD WHICH IS ABOUT 30KMS FROM THE LODGE."
Convent Hill Lodge
Royal Hotel Ladysmith
"We went for a Christmas Lunch the food was so tasteless, the only thing I enjoyed was the starters. Whooo the buttered chicken was terrible. The only thing that was better on their main meal was the pork and lamb the rest was horibble. I just wasted my money what Ana awful. Christmas I had😔"
Mont Aux Sources Drakensberg Resort
"I booked three chalets (from Australia for family reunion in SA after 3 years) for 27 -29 December 2024 which turned out to be a disaster. Late check in (4-5 hours late), rooms were not cleaned, and toilet was not working. No wifi. I almost wanted to book an additional night or two, however did not. There was no offer to compensate the poor service and mismanagement of this facility, nor refund for delays and poor facilities. It's a pity that such a beautiful location is mismanaged and misrepresented. Trust and service will take time to re-build. Your future is not good."

Three Tree Hill Lodge
"Few lodges earn the word “special” – this one does. Cheryl and Simon Blackburn have built something genuinely rare: a place where extraordinary landscape, living history and real community impact arrive in the same breath. The lodge sits in the lee of Spioenkop, one of the bloodiest battlefields of the Anglo-Boer War, and that history is woven into everything – not as a gimmick, but with real depth and passion. From the main veranda you watch giraffe, rhino and zebra with her calf move freely through the reserve. If you do not want to look that far, feel free to enjoy the animals roaming directly outside the lodge – horses, dogs, cats, all of them happy and curious to meet guests. The food is exceptional throughout, and as a vegetarian I was looked after at every meal very thoughtfully – I thoroughly felt seen! The cottages are spacious, spotlessly kept and full of character – think embroidered linen, colonial touches and a private veranda with views that make it genuinely difficult to leave. Air conditioning and all modern comforts are discreetly present, but the overall feel is warm and unpretentious rather than corporate. What sets Three Tree Hill apart, though, is the community tour led by manager Ntobeko. She walked us through the lodge’s work in Hambrook village: a micro-business incubator supporting local women, a live demonstration of copper wire mat-making, and an introduction to a woman reportedly over 110 years old. All of this funded quietly through the lodge’s own community levy. It was the most unexpectedly moving afternoon of the entire trip. Farm-to-table, Fair Trade certified, solar-powered – here you experience sustainability first hand. For conscious travellers, this is as good as it gets."
Nambiti Plains
"Our stay at Nambiti Plains was absolutely unforgettable and the perfect honeymoon destination. Magdel and Betty were amazing and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Sindy and Mabaso made every meal a joy, and Roy and Siyanda’s food was absolutely delicious. The rooms were beautiful and the entire lodge was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the bush. A special thank you to Phillip, our guide, who was phenomenal and truly took our experience to the next level with his knowledge, passion, and care. This was the best bush trip we have ever had and will be incredibly hard to top. We are so glad we chose Nambiti Plains for our honeymoon and will treasure these memories forever."
Dragonview Lodge
Atkv Drakensville
"Beautiful view, clean pools, friendly staff, well priced shops and restaurants. There are many activities in the rsort for young and old!"
Drakensberg Sun Resort
"The service at the restaurant is excellent. Every single staff member was accommodating and friendly. Check in was great except for Rashida who is very friendly with certain race groups and not so much with others. Enquiring about the water was met with a frown and blunt answer when I chatted to her. The rooms on the ground floor are nice but the noise levels outside was disturbing. I would prefer a quieter, higher room in future. While the rooms were relatively clean, there was hair from the previous occupants in the bathroom and towel and the counters had coffee stains which I had to wipe. The carpets do need a deep clean as they feel grimes underfoot and we insisted on my child keeping her shoes on. The hotel is old and needs some maintenance. The reception couches need some cleaning. The buffet was dismal on Friday night but there was improvement on Saturday night. I would rate the hotel 3 star and with some minor tweaks, and more care I believe it can be restored to its former glory. Well done to the ground staff as the gardens and pool area are beautifully maintained."
Sasi Bush Lodge
The Nest Drakensberg Mountain Resort Hotel
"The hotel was quite thoughtful; they changed our king-size bed room to a twin room according to our request. The meals were set menus, and the overall experience was great. There are hiking and motorcycle trails nearby, and the scenery is beautiful."
Ledges Retreat
Montusi Mountain Lodge
"An absolute gem! I fell in love with this piece of heaven and didn’t want to leave. We experienced hospitality at its finest—warm & personalized, with attention paid to every small detail. From being greeted by name, receiving refreshing mocktails, and a quick tour of the lodge on arrival, to kind gestures in our chalet; a welcome note & gift of scrumptious cookies, to thoughtful touches of home-baked rusks, umbrellas, swimming towels, and water bottles. The lodge blends luxury with a welcoming, unpretentious charm. It is smaller than other berg hotels, - creating an intimate and peaceful setting with breathtaking views. While we didn’t go horse-riding, we witnessed a 10 day old foal with its mom, (my heart!) swam in the stunning pool and went on a few well-marked hiking trails, accompanied by friendly knowledgeable guides. Dinners were delicious, and beautifully presented. All their staff were exceptional in their service and interactions with us."
Sandford Park Country Hotel
"The overlook exterior look needs some tlc…..simple things like cutting grass, security uniform even gold shirts so its easy to recognise that this is security and this is housekeeping staff and so forth… Room was okay for the amount we paid but there was no 2 pin plug so we could charge our phones, no telephone to call reception to enquire, we needed an iron and an ironing board , we were given a small dirty iron with no ironing board because it broke. Luckily we didn’t experience loadshedding as there was no back up."
