Hotel Höhlenstein

Hotel Höhlenstein ★★★★

📍 586, Tux, Juns

"We chose this hotel for a one-night stay en route to Italy. It's located right at the foot of the mountains, with a great view from the window. Dinner was delicious, and the wine list was excellent. Breakfast was included. The bed linen was crisp and white. The breakfast was excellent. There are saunas, but it's a shame there's no pool."

"On the 23rd of April 2025 I stayed at the Jakober hotel in Tux with my family and I had a wonderful experience. The location of the hotel was not exactly central or close to the ski slopes in reality It was a 10 minute drive but the Hotel had very nice wiews, the hotel Is also close to a nice Trail that goes along a clean and stunning river with lots of nice places to take photos. At First I had the impression that the hotel was understaffed but then I realised that the Woman running the hotel was very polite and professional so She made made out experience even Better. The hotel also had a Ski room service which wasn't the best but It was nice and next to It there was a ping pong table and a spa which are wonderful services and I am glad that the hotel offered them. The room on the other hand wasn't as nice Because It was really old style so It was like a Little apartment with two big and comfy bedrooms with bathrooms whilst also having a kitchen; everything was clean and well-kept. In the end we had a really good experience so I would suggest this Hotel to anyone visiting the Hintertux glacier."

"I have stayed with my husband for 8 nights, it is not the first time when we choose this hotel. Everything is perfect, the room, the services, the food, the facilities, the spa. Stock Family is always around to help you. It is always a pleasure to be there! I will definitely recommend this beautiful place for any season of the year, not only in winter for ski. Thank you for everything!"

"I'm picky when it comes to ski hotels, but I struck gold here. Spacious rooms, excellent food, a cosy bar and superb spa combined to create a very relaxing stay. The staff are superb, and clearly the family owners are very hands on in maintaining the quality. The pools (because one pool is just not enough!) are big enough to actually get a decent swim in, and the outdoor one is every bit as magical as the photos suggest. My favourite element was the spa. Its the best I have come across, and I spent hours in there every day. It is very well thought out and spacious. My ski holiday turned into more of a spa trip with a bit of skiing attached. The ski lift is a five minute walk away, and you can ski back to within about 100 metres of the hotel. The ski hire shop is just across the road. The village is small and quite pretty, and very quiet, which is fine by me. For a banging night-life, stay in Mayrhofen! Thankyou to all the staff, we would love to return."

Hotel Klausnerhof

Hotel Klausnerhof ★★★★

📍 Hintertux 770, Hintertux

"An excellent hotel to spend some days. Very close to the Hintertux glacier, well served by buses to the glacier and to the other station. Spa is beautiful, breakfast and dinner very rich and the service is quick. Our rooms were clean and comfortable."

Hotel Pension Sonnleiten ★★★

📍 Lanersbach 484, Tux

"Great family-run hotel, very nice and clean, great food, exceptional hosts' attitude. We missed only fridge in the room, but in 3 stars hotel-pension it is not compulsory. Sourrounding is very hilly, so I would not recommend it to older or disabled people, who cannot enjoy hills (but it is not the fault of the hotel). Also for biking I recommend e-bikes. Nice children playgrounds, lot of cablecars... We enjoyed our stay and we would deffinitely love to came back."

Aktiv- & Wellnesshotel Bergfried

Aktiv- & Wellnesshotel Bergfried ★★★★★

📍 Lanersbach 483, Tux

"A huge disappointment!! I'd booked a spa day and was told via email that everything would be open from 11:00 AM. This was convenient, as my treatment was at 10:00 AM and I had to pick up my daughter at 2:00 PM. When I got home from my treatment, 70% of the spa facilities were still closed, and they didn't open until 2:00 PM. I was completely misinformed, even though I'd specifically asked in the email if everything would be open at 11:00 AM. I wanted to avoid disappointment, but unfortunately, it was. I did get my money back at the reception, but it wasn't exactly cordial! Never again."

Aparthotel Dorfplatzl B&B Hotels in Tux

Aparthotel Dorfplatzl B&B

"Super warm welcome in a mega well-kept and very tastefully furnished apartment hotel in a colossal natural setting, which has a lot to offer physically active holidaymakers in winter and summer. From one of the two mega stylish saunas, in: a) the well-stocked hotel bar and straight to pizzas that are second to none in the in-house restaurant, or b) prefer to go to the in-house supermarket and then cook your own meals in your own well-equipped kitchen in the apartment, here you are "spoiled for choice" and wake up in very comfortable beds the next day, fit for new action ... of course also with the option of a sumptuous breakfast buffet with fresh delicacies from the region in the restaurant ... or completely relaxed and comfortable with messy hair in your pajamas with the first coffee of the day in your hand on your own balcony with a view of the nearby 3,000m ... Everything depends on your own taste: mega"

"The service is top. It's always friendly and very attentive. We have been going to the valley for 10 years and are always excited. We feel here as guests always appreciated. The food is totally delicious and fresh. The location is also very good to reach with the bus (Madside place). It's worth coming here. It's also all very familiar."

Berggasthaus Hollensteinhutte Hotels in Tux

Berggasthaus Hollensteinhutte

"In February, we returned to the Höllensteinhütte - and enjoyed our stay as much as before! We enjoyed every single moment of our stay - not least because of the great and personal hospitality of the Erler family (with Michael, Thomas, and Hubert at the personal frontline) as well as their service staff - warm thanks to the entire team. The Höllensteinhütte is a marvellous blend of a traditional Tyrolean alpin hut and a boutique hotel. Rooms are newly renovated and nicely furnished (for recent pictures visit their web page - pictures here seem to be mostly from before the renovation). Also for this year's return, we were enchanted by the location of the Höllensteinhütte on a calm mountain plain (Alm) again - looking from the balcony at the sun lit peaks in the morning, enjoying a hunter's tea (Jagatee) on the porch after "returning from the valley" in the afternoon, or enjoying the star-sprangled night sky before closing the day. This year, we brought snow shoes. We had tried them before on smaller hikes and enjoyed them during our stay for hikes starting "right in front of the breakfast table". Stepping out of the hut and stepping right in to the nature, hiking up into the mountains and returning without having to jump into the hustle and bustle of the valley was a special gift to us. We also enjoyed the half-board in full again. All food was very tasty - a lovely and wide selection of local produce for breakfast and a delicious 4 course dinner - for which we would happily award a personal "star". The Höllensteinhütte is a clear recommendation from us to everybody who would like to enjoy the calmness of the nature at a Tyrolean mountain hut, yet in reach to the Tux skiing area, combined with the comfort of a boutique hotel, and topped off by personal hospitality. We are determined to return."

"A really pleasant hotel, family-led and in perfect and quiet location directly on the cable and ski bus stop. We were there for the fifth time, the kitchen is really at gourmet level, for this very well-sorted wine cellar with great advice and a great careful room equipped. We booked directly at departure!"

Hotel Höhlenstein ★★★★
"It may have once been a 4-star hotel, but that's long gone. The entire building is showing its age, and clearly nothing is being done to stop the deterioration. Everything looks worn and a bit shabby; even the upholstery on the restaurant chairs is saggy. Furthermore, the entire building has a musty and very unpleasant smell. The ski boot heater has been cold all week. The poorly presented breakfast consists of the cheapest ingredients, there's nothing fresh on the buffet (even the fruit salad comes from the freezer), and the cheese is already bulging on its plate by 9:00 a.m. A nuisance in the wellness area: Many guests wear swimwear, even though the website advertises a textile-free environment. Even after our request, the staff did nothing to change this. Speaking of staff: the receptionist and one waitress (who unfortunately was only there one morning) are friendly and approachable. The other employees are unfriendly, cold, and dismissive. This may be due to the language barrier, as the hotel language is Czech. But a "good day" should still be possible. But it wasn't. We stayed in the apartment, which was spacious and functionally furnished. The location is a positive: a 10-minute ski bus ride to the glacier. Our conclusion after one week: It was okay, but we wouldn't book the hotel again."

"Overall this is a very good hotel located right next to the skiing gondola making it easily possible to ski back to the hotel with only a 2 minute walk to the gondola in the morning as the bridge for the mountain stream and car park is in the way. The bedrooms are of a large size including a sofa, table & chairs, writing table and plenty of wardrobe storage. The rooms are kept well cleaned. The sauna/spa area is not as good as other 4 star hotels in the valley and wine prices at dinner are high. The staff are friendly & work well together. A 6 course meal taking 45 minutes on average to be served. Having stayed at 6 hotels mostly 4 star in the Zillertal valley it's difficult to find fault with them in general."

"A Disappointing Experience – Not a True 4-Star Hotel We highly recommend doing thorough research before booking this hotel. Unfortunately, our stay did not live up to the expectations set by the website or the hotel's advertised 4-star status. 1) Location: The hotel is located on a busy road, with heavy traffic from large buses and ski-related car congestion heading towards the main ski lift. Many of the rooms face this road, meaning you can expect traffic noise. This is especially concerning if you have children, as the front of the hotel opens directly onto a busy country road. The image on the hotel’s website, showing a peaceful scene, is misleading—it was taken from the back of the hotel, not the front, which actually reveals a parking lot and a bustling road. Furthermore, the ski lifts are not easily accessible from the hotel. The drive to the lift takes around 10-20 minutes, depending on traffic, or you can rely on the hotel shuttle. It is not within walking distance, so don’t expect a quick walk to the slopes. On the plus side, if you enjoy walking or cross-country skiing, the location is ideal, as there’s a trail behind the hotel. 2) Food: As frequent visitors to Austrian hotels, we have come to expect high-quality food, especially when staying at a 4-star property. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. The food quality was disappointing: Cooked items were often overdone, such as ribs that were severely burnt. Salad ingredients appeared stale, and there was a noticeable recycling of old food. While the dinner service seemed to have gourmet aspirations, it was more akin to a basic cafeteria, with poorly prepared dishes, outdated ice cream, and subpar meat. On some nights, certain family members opted to skip dinner altogether. The food quality here is far from what you would expect from a 4-star establishment. In fact, we joked about nominating the restaurant for a "Gordon Ramsay intervention"—it truly needs a major overhaul. 3) Service: Service at the hotel was another letdown. The front desk staff was consistently unfriendly, especially when we needed help with simple requests, such as arranging transportation or organizing activities. This was particularly frustrating when traveling with kids, as daily plans often change and assistance is crucial. The hotel does seem to cater to regular guests, many of whom appear to have a close relationship with the owners and staff. This may create a more welcoming atmosphere for German-speaking guests or those from the region (Austria, Switzerland, Germany), but for international visitors, the service was lacking. Additionally, for those coming from tea-drinking countries (which is the majority of the world), be aware that the hotel restricts access to hot water and tea service during certain hours. This policy forces guests to buy drinks from the hotel, which, while a commercial strategy, feels quite inhospitable. In our experience, we have never encountered such penny"

"We stayed for 7 days, we had the lodge and meal package. The food was amazing. Breakfast included buffet style items & fresh eggs on order if needed. Daily snack were available and every 4-course dinner was amazing! Their Chef did an outstanding job. Food a la carte was also available. The rooms were spacious and clean and had a nice walkout terrace. The beds use memory foam mattresses, which I did not mind, but my in-laws did not like. The hotel has a ski storage area with boot dyers, which was very convenient and also a laundry room. My in-laws really enjoyed the sauna and massage rooms. The bus stop is right next to the hotel, and there is also a ski shop right across were one could get a good ski wax for a fair price. The hotel style is very traditional and cozy. it felt like staying at a friend's house because every one was so friendly and helpful. They really made us feel that they were happy to have us! Great ski hotel, I will definitly return!"
