"If you decide to holiday in Cairns then do yourself a favour and consider staying at the Golden Sands Beachfront Resort. We stayed there for eight, most enjoyable nights and can highly recommend this hotel. The room was spacious, sparkling clean, well equipped and had a beautiful view from the balcony. The bed was huge and very comfortable - extra pillows too. To keep you cool there are ceiling fans and a large reverse cycle air conditioner. A pleasant surprise was finding a washing machine (with detergent) and dryer hidden nicely behind concertina doors. The bathroom was large, modern and had excellent water pressure. The kitchen had a full size fridge, hotplate and was fully equipped - but we did not cook as Cairns has SO many restaurants to choose from! As for location - Yorkeys Knob; a short drive north of Cairns and it is just so beautiful and peaceful. The hotel is located right on the beach where you walk through a lush, vegetated park to access the beach. There is a highly rated restaurant located next to the hotel's pool, where they offer scrumptious breakfasts and lunches - can highly recommend dining there. We also walked a little way down the beach to another restaurant for dinner; Ten 06. They are fully licensed too. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did. :-)"

"Check-in went OK as manager advised off premises on our arrival day. Had a strange knock on door that night though and manager asked if we were OK to check out next morning ! (5 night stay had been booked). Cool weather and no blankets in room. (had to ask for these) Room spacious but very sparsely furnished in lounge and settee would not fold out plus rather uncomfortable. Older units. Outside stairways could do with a good tidy and paint. (stray socks and linen lying around) As past residents of Cairns we travel here often for family. Have stayed in many places, but, unfortunately would not recommend this one."
