This hotel is part of the Empire chain, situated just beside another hotel from the same chain. It feels like a typical 4-5 star hotel, which is super. The bed came with soft and hard pillows, the bed was super comfortable, the toilet was big and clean. Honestly, no qualms about the room and physical aspects of the hotel.
The stay also came with a free afternoon tea which was a buffet, which is really nice, and also lounge access on the 30th floor (both of which are in the sister hotel next door).
What I found kind of annoying though was that despite the free amenities above, the hotel does not give any bottled water nor shaving kits or any amenities in the name of going green. I mean sure, I’m an advocate for going green, but surely everyone still needs to drink water, no? Maybe provide a reusable bottle and a water dispenser somewhere, that might be better than not providing any water at all. To their credit though, they do have a vending machine on the ground floor that serves drinks and amenities at a price.

Got it! Here’s the refined review:

My recent stay at Empire Hotel in Wan Chai was a wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff provided warm and attentive service, always available to help with questions or local recommendations.
The room was modern, clean, and very comfortable, with quality bedding that made for a restful sleep. I appreciated the thoughtful details, which made the stay even more pleasant, and the views from the higher floors were a nice bonus, giving a lovely glimpse into Wan Chai's vibrant atmosphere.
The location of Empire Hotel is ideal—it’s close to public transportation and within walking distance of a variety of restaurants, shops, and local attractions. Even though I didn’t opt for the breakfast buffet, there are plenty of great cafes and eateries nearby, so finding a meal was easy and enjoyable.
Overall, Empire Hotel in Wan Chai is a great choice for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and excellent service in Hong Kong. Highly recommended!

convenient location and excellent and very polite staff attitude. Especially the last one makes a big big difference.
Be aware, you CAN'T open the windows in the room. Also, the internet connection is limited to 4 devices, meaning you need to ask at the reception to obtain an extra code to keep connected. A cumbersome policy.
The size of the room is really just just right. Very very tight for 2 people but well structured. On the negative side, noise insulation, practically, doesn't exist. If people in rooms around you take a shower, you can hear the running water. Imagine if they do that in the middle of the night. You simply wake up waiting for them to finish shower. Air-conditioning is also quite loud.

We had a great experience during our stay in Dorsett Wanchai. We enjoyed the very comfy bed and best view on the 25th floor, which was given as a complimentary gift since one of us is celebrating her birthday, plus a bottle of wine as a gift. The only thing is that we are four pax and two pax need to check out early so they cannot take breakfast, so we just requested a breakfast box for them to bring since it is very expensive in Hong Kong and a breakfast box would be good, especially for those who need to go early in the morning. The receptionist said that their breakfast is only for
dine-in and there is no option for takeout or breakfast boxes. I suggest that since you are a
four point five-star hotel, you should have an option for breakfast boxes since all guests are paying for breakfast, anyway its fine and just a suggestion.
But all the staff are very accommodating, and it was a memorable experience for us.
Thank you🥰

The location is amazing! Love it. Service is pretty bad. Sent an email to them 2 days prior my stay. Till the end of my 6 days stay, there is no reply. I was seeking for help for my Macau travel. The lady at the concierge was impatient and replied “Best not to go via that route if you haven’t purchased the ticket” and went to assist another customer. So if you are an experienced traveller in HK and doesn’t not need any direction, this is still a good location.
HK has a new rule, they will not replenished any shower gel & amenities etc. I stayed there for 6 days with a friend. I have to bathe with shampoo as there is no shower gel left (it was less filled) on the last day and I am unable to open the lid to mix with water. So I will recommend only if you stay for less than 6 days.
I didn’t read the fine prints. We have to pay extra to use the gym. So if gym is a must, do consider other hotels available. It is HKD $80 per pax.

EEdiGThe hotel positions itself as a 4-star establishment, but it falls short of that mark. Here's a breakdown of my experience:
Location: The location is excellent, if you don't mind a steep uphill walk. However, the entire island is built on different levels, which isn't a negative but rather a positive – a daily workout! There's a bus stop right by the hotel, making it easy to reach the metro instead of walking up and down, straining your leg muscles. Next door is a botanical and zoological garden where you can take a stroll. By the way, entry is free. A 10-minute walk down the hill leads to the cable car ”tram” stop for a trip to Victoria Peak.
Check-in: Check-in was fast, but a USD 300 deposit is required, which isn't mentioned on either the trip.com website or the hotel's website. If you need an adapter for your electronic devices, ask for one right away – the receptionist won't offer it.
Room: The room is relatively clean, though I did find some hair in the kitchen and on the bedding. For Hong Kong, the room is spacious, but there's nowhere to store a suitcase. You can set the temperature on the air conditioner, but it doesn't work. It only blows cold air, making the room humid.
Kitchen: The kitchen is minimally equipped, but it's sufficient. However, upon check-in, they warn you that the stove can only be used for reheating food, not cooking, as the fire alarm system is very sensitive and might activate the siren due to hot steam. You must turn on the exhaust fan to full power and the air conditioner to avoid triggering the alarm. Why bother having a kitchen at all?
Bathroom: The same situation as with the kitchen – you need to close the door and turn on the air conditioner at full power while showering to avoid the fire alarm being triggered by steam from the bathroom. The shower hose started leaking on the second day of my stay. It was replaced with a new one, which also leaked. When the technician replaced the hose, did he check if the equipment was working properly? I doubt it.
Breakfast: Breakfast is only served from a menu, which is quite limited. It's delicious, but not diverse. Is this the service you'd expect from a 4-star hotel? The breakfast organization is chaotic – staff running around and clanging dishes. Two slow coffee machines and one toaster keep guests waiting in line. By the way, there are plastic mugs for tea and coffee. The only fruit options are two types of apples – red and green.
Service: The service is polite, but I'd say it's ”on demand.” You need to ask for shampoo, shower gel, and dishwashing liquid to be refilled. The housekeeping, for some reason, doesn't notice the need to replenish hygiene products in the bathroom and kitchen.
Environmentalism: As in all of Hong Kong, they no longer provide water in plastic bottles. That's good, but come up with an alternative so guests don't have to go to the store for water. In my opinion, this environmental concern is simply an opportunity to reduce service costs while maintaining high accommodation prices. Speaking of breakfast again, the jam and butter are provided in small plastic containers, just like on airplanes. Is this really about caring for the environment?
Conclusion: Overall, it's a good choice if you're not bothered by the minor service inconsistencies and if you don't have high expectations for a 4-star hotel. If you're visiting Hong Kong, I'd recommend Two MacDonell Road.

VValerieLarusseNot a bad place, located around hills and near a small beach. There is a big wardrobe and the bathroom was big. There is a sink in the kitchen and a small refrigerator. The room is big and spacious. The bed wasn’t too big but was comfortable. We were given a music themed room without cleaning provided. There was a tent ( I suppose for a kid) Breakfast is okay not a buffet, but you can choose one of three options. The location is a bit far BUT they provide a shuttle bus to a subway station from early morning till almost midnight. No shops around but there are vending machines in the hotel. There’s a small gym and a swimming pool but it was closed.

WWills CI recently stayed at the Harbour Plaza North Point Hotel on 31/12/2024 and I wanted to share my experience. Unfortunately, my stay had several challenges that impacted my overall satisfaction.
Since there were no available double bed rooms on the non-smoking floor, I was assigned to a smoking room on 9/F. As a non-smoker, I expected a slight cigarette smell, but the odor in the room was quite heavy. I informed housekeeping to spray air freshener while I was out for dinner, but the smell persisted, and even after checking out, I could still smell it on my clothes.
Additionally, the room itself felt outdated, reminiscent of the 1980s, and it is in urgent need of upgrades and maintenance. The decor and furnishings could definitely benefit from a refresh to enhance the guest experience.
Another downside was the Wi-Fi connectivity. The signal in my room was poor, making it impossible to download games to my Switch. I found myself having to stand in the corridor just to complete the download, which was quite inconvenient.
On a positive note, the staff were polite and attentive, which made a difference in my stay. I also appreciated the spaciousness of the room, which provided some comfort despite the other issues.
In summary, while the Harbour Plaza North Point Hotel has potential with its friendly staff and spacious accommodations, significant improvements are needed in terms of room conditions, maintenance, and amenities.

LLingblissfulClean and comfortable room. Appreciate the upgrade.
No meal 🍽️ suitable for vegetarian. 🥗
Would be good if they can offer more meal options, and have large bottles of water for selling.
Good views. Mountains and sea waves around.
DDerekOver all, we enjoyed the stay because of the quality of services. The employees were all nice to us. After reporting the issues of the phone and standup table, the Maintenance Team came to fix quickly. The room, although upgraded, was very small. There was not much space to move around in the room. The breakfast buffet was fine and a convenience for us. We like it. Although the window was small, the night view was beautiful.
Suggestions:
1. It is annoying when the shower curtain was waving during the showering. We would suggest installing a shower curtain with magnetic metal strip which can be attached to the bottom ledge of the shower basin. This will also prevent water splashing out of the basin.
2. Please discard the worn and damaged towels. It did not feel good to use the damaged towels in a hotel.
3. There was no face cloth served in the room. Is it expected for the guests to bring our own and this would be odd?
