The house is one of the oldest houses on the Loschwitz Elbe hillside and was originally built in 1848 as a winegrower's house. In the meantime there was the famous Dresden painter Ludwig Richter as summery studio. (The studio even still exists). Until 1945 it remained the summer home for wealthy Loschwitzer, after that it was as a studio - used and exhibition hall of the Dresden artist Metz Kolbe.
