I was charged for an additional 288 Swiss FR for “additional guest”. when I checked out. only because I did not put My Son’s name when I did the booking, but I booked a twin room and my son naturally stay with me. not to mention he’s my 13 year old son. they can charge me for additional breakfast. That’s totally OK. but additional person for twin room?really? And Main thing I was not told I will be charged when I checked in. That is not fair I will reflect this to Swiss tourism office.
Btw. The staff are 100% good. Very friendly but I am sickened by the strange policy.

Tannenhof is well located near the Murmeltierbrunnen (groundhog fountain), next to Zermatterhof Hotel. The building is very modern in inside to a high standard. The rooms and beds were superb, with a great shower. The only star I deducted was the sporadic service at breakfast and poor communication. The young lady briefed with restocking breakfast and clearing tables was a little reluctant, but could be persuaded. I had sent a message to the hotel months in advance and asked for one of our rooms to be made up with twin beds. I even had a friendly confirmation back. On arrival however, no notice could be found and both rooms had double beds. Not a major thing, but a hotel in this category and price range should be able to deal with this. Also on our arrival, the restaurant was closed for the day (it was open again the next day). Again, no notice was given to us. Out of the many messages I was sent by Tannenhof to check in online beforehand, none indicated a closed dinner option at the hotel. Again, not a major thing, but something that wasn’t aligned with rest of the luxurious ambience at Tannenhof.

My husband and I traveled from Dallas, Texas to Zermatt on July 24 to July 26, 2024. We arrived Zermatt by the Glacier Express from St. Moritz. The team at the hotel had emailed us earlier that they would pick us up when our train arrived at the station. The hotel van with their logo driven by a warm friendly staff member, was there promptly to take us to the hotel which took only 5-6 minutes. On arrival, our bags were taken directly to our rooms and were pleasantly surprised when the manager upgraded us to a Matterhorn view room! Our room on the third floor was wonderfully appointed with all amenities - small fridge, an electric kettle, queen bed, robes, slippers, lush towels, and an unparalleled view of the famous Matterhorn mountain! The breakfast was sumptuous- cold and hot with everything you could ask for! The hotel is walking distance to almost all restaurants, funiculars, gondola rides restaurants and stores, including a grocery store. The bay windows opened to allow access to a patio with seating where we enjoyed cocktails at sunset! In all - a great experience! Thank you team Le Mirabeau!

Best hotel we ever stayed at, bpth the service, view and rhe food :) thanks to the blonde man in the resturant giving us tips for mountain resturant for our walk from Blauherd :-) We had amazing view to the Matterhorn from our room, and had drinks at the balcony in the evening. The best hotel in Zermatt, there are fruit nuts, chocolate, red wine, etc. You can have an extra bed, breakfast is great, there are swimming pool, billiards and table tennis. Going to the train station is also specially called a carriage, very good, at checkout The price is 100 Swiss francs more than Ctrip. After watching Ctrip’s order, I immediately refunded 100 Swiss francs. A very good hotel.

This was our favorite stay during our Switzerland trip. The staff was so welcoming, friendly and accommodating during the whole stay. The room was spacious, quiet, modern and SPOTLESS. Everything was wood and smelled of pine. So much attention to detail. Zermatt isn't very big, so everything is close. The breakfast buffet was good. We didn't partake in the pool and spa but it looked like others enjoyed it. I have nothing negative to say, we will defiantly stay here again.

We could not fault our stay at the Matthiol! We stayed for a week for our winter Honeymoon and to ski, and it was absolutely perfect! The rooms are beautifully appointed and spacious. The views are gorgeous and the location is just a short walk from one of the free bus stops. The breakfast buffet was THE BEST we have ever had, and the restaurant, Filet et Fils, was brilliant (the fondue huts were also a delicious and cool experience). The staff and service were absolute stand-outs. They were so helpful, providing recommendations and helping to coordinate ski hire etc. We will definitely come back next time we're in Zermatt, and we can't wait to stay again. Thank you to the Matthiol for making our Honeymoon so special!

We went back to the derby hotel restaurant to find out if Giovanni Zaino and his team (very attentive Fernando) were still running the good restaurant in an agile and friendly manner and... our experience was even better than the one we had here in 2021! We will definitely be dining here again next time. By the way, we're going to stay at the hotel again, which this time was full.

Hotel location is good, just 10 minutes walk distance far from train station (with your heavy luggage maybe 15-18minutes walk, but the floor is so far flat and easy for carrying luggage)

The overall quality of Swiss hotels is really high, with details in place everywhere. The same is true of this hotel. The handsome guy at the front desk is really super enthusiastic. He will say hello every time he meets, and explain how to play the Matterhorn route when he checks in.
The breakfast husband said that it was the fullest day in Europe. There are boiled eggs and fried eggs. Fried eggs are not salty and rare, and there are small cakes. This salmon is super fresh and has a lot of fruit. The best thing is that the juice is freshly squeezed, squeezed by yourself, and there is a special machine for pressing fruits.
The room was clean, the bed was large and comfortable. The balcony is also nice and you can see the street view. By the way, there are minibars in the room, all of them are free. This is awesome. There are beer and various drinks in it. Seems like 6 bottles. The coffee in the coffee machine is also very good, but I didn't drink it.
The hotel has a free mini bus, the front desk said it would take us, but it was useless and I wanted to go around by myself.
Very pleasant stay, recommend everyone. The price is not cheap or expensive, around 1500 a night.

SStellakwansyStaying at this hotel in Zermatt was an unforgettable experience! The location is perfect—just 500 meters from the train station, making it incredibly convenient. The highlight of my stay was the warm hospitality from the owners, Thor and Michele. They personally served the buffet breakfast every morning, which was both delicious and thoughtfully prepared. On my first day, I unfortunately missed breakfast, but as I was heading out around 10:45 am, they surprised me by reserving some food for me to enjoy before leaving. It was such a thoughtful and touching gesture that truly made me feel cared for.
The room itself was immaculate and had everything I needed. The balcony offered a stunning mountain view, which was a perfect way to start and end each day. Thor and Michele went above and beyond to make me feel like a VIP throughout my stay. They remembered my name, attended to every need, and even took the time to explain the local attractions and recommend food options based on my preferences.
I feel incredibly lucky to have secured two nights at this gem of a hotel, especially since it’s almost always fully booked. This was one of the most personal and heartwarming stays I’ve ever had. If you’re visiting Zermatt, staying here is an absolute must. Thank you, Thor and Michele, for making my trip so memorable!

GGuest UserThe Matterhornlodge is located about a 5-10 min walk from the Zermatt station.
We arrived at about 1pm and were informed that check-in was only at 2pm so we went for lunch and returned at around 2.30pm. We were greeted by Ruth, the proprietress of the hotel, who gave us a comprehensive briefing of the house rules and policies. Ruth was very warm, friendly, and charming; she was very guest-focused and was happy to find out more about where we were from and what we planned to do. Ruth even gave us recommendations for Bern when we told her we were going there next.
Although the hotel is stated to be 4 stars, we were very impressed by the room and the amenities. The bathroom came with a bidet and the toiletries provided were of good quality. The room was also very spacious with enough room to open up 2 luggage bags. The towels and robes were thick, warm, and fluffy.
The breakfast provided in the morning was also quite good with a decent selection of breads, cold cuts, cheese, and eggs.
At checkout, Ruth also gave us a complimentary ride to the train station in her electric vehicle.
All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay at the Matterhornlodge and we were very impressed by Ruth’s hospitality.

My wife have grown quite fond of mountaintop lodgings for our ski holidays and they don’t come much more emblematic than 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat. Perched atop a peak facing the iconic Matterhorn, it exemplifies the panoramic views and towering location that we adore. Make no mistake, despite my issues raised below, this is a truly magical property. But it isn’t cheap and it comes with a number of limitations that you should be aware of marooned in the middle of nowhere. • COMFORTABLE ROOMS WITH STUNNING VIEWS – Especially the Matterhorn view rooms where the image of this iconic promontory fills your window. • NICELY PRESENTED FOOD – Not quite gourmet, but a clever effort to dress it up with alluring ingredients and garnishes. But the food is tasty and the portions are ample. HINT - GETTING THERE IS VERY COMPLICATED – Do not just put the hotel in your satnav as it will not be able to help you and you will hit lot of problems. Here is a step-by-step guide to getting there: • AVOID THE CAR-TRAIN: The satnavs will give you the fastest route that takes you on a route where you load your car onto a train to be transported through a shortcut tunnel, BUT that train runs very irregularly. So you end of up waiting an hour for a train that saves you 30 minutes of driving time. • GO TO TASCH, SWITZERLAND: Tasch is where you park your car. In fact, I think that the town’s sole purpose in life is to be a giant parking lot for Zermatt. You see Zermatt itself is CAR FREE. So you have to park in Tasch and take a 12 minute shuttle train into Zermatt. I recommend the underground parking lot just to the left of the train station (facing it) which had reasonable prices (12 euros/day), plenty of spaces, but most importantly was the shortest walk to the station (very important when lugging luggage full of ski equipment). • RENT SKI GEAR AT BAYARD – Unlike most ski resorts, the ski rental shops are not obvious. We had to ask to find one. Several people recommended Bayard and they gave us great service. Most importantly, they are on the block adjacent to the train station again minimizing lugging distance. LIMITATIONS - It is a stunning, bucket-list worthy property, but its pricey rack-rates also command a bit of discernment… • OBSERVATORY NOT AVAILABLE – When you read about the place, one of the first things that gets mentioned is its observatory heritage which includes still operational telescopes available for public use. HOWEVER, the observatory is run by a separate company and viewings are only available by prior and separate arrangements. This situation could be better communicated and coordinated. • LOUNGE NOT AVAILABLE – Unfortunately, the hotel doesn’t yet have a common area lounge where you can relax and have drink. You can go down to the dining room and sit at one of the tables with the view of the Matterhorn, but nothing more comfortable. So it is either a table or your room. GGuest UserPleasantly surprised by how big the room was! A rarity in Switzerland for sure. Modern furnishings a plus! Lovely surprise balcony with a sideways view of the town, nice to sit outside to unwind at the end of the long day. Bathroom was rather lacking in character compared to the room and bath tub/screen was quite inconvenient. But basic amenities are there, two sinks + separate WC were appreciated. Breakfast was average, adequate but not great spread. No swimming pool, bare gym, uninspiring suana area for a 4* hotel so manage your expectations accordingly. Location very close to train station (5 mins), off a quiet corner, complimentary luggage shuttle would be nice instead of charging CHF12 for what is literally a 1 minute ride in a buggy.

GGuest UserI was very happy with interlaken youth hostel and decided to book zermatt youth hostel. Free Good Breakfast, although a toaster would have been nice but they have good coffee machine and good collections of tea bags. Clean property and good view of Matterhorn from dining area! The property did not mention that the bus do not go anymore to 'luchre' stoppage. The property is quite high up in the mountain. The bus left me a place way below to the stoppage. so it was very hard to take luggage up to the property. Also, the distance between Luchre bus stop and the property is also bit long. considering the steepness. Second thing, the property does not have lift! It was really really hard to go up to 3rd floor with luggage. For me, a kind romanian staff helped me to take the suitcase to the 3rd floor. I also find the room (most probably 138 or 134) that I had been given at the very last corner of the corridor, which is fine. but opposite to that room, there is another property whose bedroom or lounge room facing my room, The room does not have curtain. it was very uncomfortable. Interlaken youth hostel has the curtain. not all the room needs curtain, but some room facing other properties, I strongly recommend this small addition. when I mentioned that to the lady, she said, go to a hotel, this is hostel. I replied, Interlaken has curtain. she did not reply. while leaving, the lady staff was very rude and said no one can help you to get the suitcase down. One gentleman was kind and helped me. This property is good. unfortunately, it is not possible perhaps to add lift or change location. but they can add curtain for sure.

GGuest UserGreat hotel Don’t expect luxury but given the price point you know this already The rooms are small but functional with everything you need for your stay including a great coffee machine that’s topped up daily. Breakfast is well beyond what I was expecting and had cereals, meats, yoghurts, breads, cheeses, sausages, eggs and probably much more! Plus more really good coffee! Located 5 minutes walk to Bayard ski rental, and an additional 1 minute to the Gornergrat railway taking you up onto the slopes From the hotel, you can be on the train in under 10 minutes. Staff are really helpful and allowed us to keep our bags there on the last day even though we’d checked out. There’s a quick lift to all floors. I would highly recommend the hotel if your plans are to ski all day, go out on an evening and use it as a place to sleep. Would certainly return

Through we did not get the ideal room (high floor) due to full booking, we got a bigger room on the first floor.
Cleanliness and location was great, walkable to the train station and it was accessible to the main street.
Amenities were good - kettle was provided to boil hot water, tv could login to your own netflix account, there was tea time provided at 4pm daily.

HHussain RWe stayed in the first floor apartment in this brand new building. The apartment which accommodates six guests, covers the entire first floor. The apartment is surrounded by balconies and a huge terrace directly facing the Matterhorn. Two bedrooms and the kitchen/dining overlook the river. The sound of the river is really seductive! The third bedroom overlooks the terrace and has a huge modern ensuite bathroom. The apartment has been done to an extremely high standard. The kitchen is huge, modern and well equipped. The three bathrooms have been done with modern design and tasteful finishes. There is a washing machine/dryer in the apartment which is extremely convenient. The location of the building is very central with easy access to the train station and all touristic and sports attractions. Many restaurants are within meters away. Our stay was made most comfortable by the constant attentive service provided by Ms. Alessandra who takes extra care and does not spare any effort to make her guests enjoy a memorable vacation. Highly recommended.

HHong AVery amazed by the level of automation in the hotel! Check-in was seamless even though it was just an iPad. We needed to pay a tourist tax via an online link prior to arrival but we were abit wary given the number of online scams nowadays - perhaps it’ll be better to charge everything up front?
There was free coffee available as well, which was a huge plus. The room was amazing, spotlessly clean, sufficiently big, had a balcony, comfortable bed. One of the staff (a guy) allowed us to put our luggage in the room early even though we could only encode our card after 3pm. He even helped us make a reservation at Du Pont as we didn’t have a Swiss number, thanks very much!
The hotel is a 10min walk from the main train station, though there are free buses which can shorten the journey. We just walked as it was faster.
We were in Swiss for 2 weeks and this hotel is definitely the best accommodation we had - for a very good price as well!

GGuest user123Initially I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel based on reviews but it was a good stay!! Great value for Zermatt! Walking distance about 10 mins from Zermatt station, on shopping street. Toilets and stairway up a bit small but ok for us. Luckily we were located on first floor so didn’t have to climb up too many stairs with our luggage. There’s a pizzeria below. Things to note: didn’t see a bin ( only a small one in toilet) so maybe bring your own plastic bag for a bin as well as room slippers.
Place was clean! However there’s some loud music that played even in the wee hours of the night like 3am, so if you are a light sleeper, you might need to put on some ear plugs to muffle the noise out. Nonetheless, A huge thank you for the stay. Convenient, Breakfast was awesome, simple spread but very heartwarming and the coffee was the most delicious I’ve had. It was the Easter weekend so there’s pretty Easter eggs for breakfast too! The lady owner was lovely and check in and check out was very easy and seamless. We stayed for a night and would recommend this place.
