The location is great, it's just a stone away from Shen Da Cheng 沈大成 the Must-Eat local food shop. It's also the same building with Zara clothing, which is somewhere in the middle of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street 南京路步行街. And both GEM and GME actually referring to the same hotel 格美酒店. Their supervisor is helpful and replied fast through WeChat. The room is spacious but the cleanliness is to be improved. Dust and mold can be seen. The cleaner change the bathroom floor mat everyday and also provide us clean towels without taking away our dirty ones unless we leave it in the laundry basket, this is a plus to me that I can decide when to reuse or change a clean one. The toiletries are well provided, including kids toothbrush and kid slippers. Our family room comes with a 3.5kg washer and detergent is well provided too, this impressed me as I dont need to buy my own detergent. Air-conditioner and water heater are doing well during our stay. Overall recommended.

It's rated as 4 star according to trip.com, but we felt it's not up to the 4 star standard! We live the location (very convenient to the bund and nanjing walking streets), we love the rooms, very clean, smell nice and comfortable! We love the housekeeping - clean and attentive. BUT, the staff professionalism and service standards are really average.
- i made bookings 3 weeks in agave m advance and sent 2 requests prior to check in but NEVER get replies from the hotel. For a 4 star hotel it's unprofessional.
- i need help to getting a wheelchair for my 81 years old mum, only to be brushed off by the staff at reception and the so- called helpful wechat customer service support with unhelpful and uncompassionate replies. They did not offer to help in any manner no matter how urgent my request was.
- there were only 2 lifts and hence very long waiting time
- the walkways to the lifts and on M floor to the breakfast restaurant look and feel like an abandoned walk way, don't feel like in a 4 star hotel at all! Really sub standard.
The overall customer service experience i have is really not satisfactory. I think this is common in the Shanghai low hospitality and crudeness, which is a shame as shanghai is such a nice city, the ppl should be nicer too!
Elong should really improve on the staff professionalism, customer service and helpfulness - high standards should be strive in hospitality. And we paid very high price for the rooms!!!!

The location of the hotel was also ideal, situated in the heart of the city with easy access to attractions and transportation. The location of the hotel is very good. It's about a three-minute walk from Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. It's not right next to it and it's not that noisy. It is an old building and there is no elevator. The front desk should be careful when carrying large luggage on the third floor. The front desk service is very good and can store luggage. The room is also relatively clean and has an induction cooker. A double bed and a double sofa bed are distributed in two rooms, so they are not too intrusive. One disadvantage is that bottled water is not provided and you have to buy or bring it yourself. The other is that there are very few switches. The door switch is responsible for all the lights in the hall, and the inner room switch is responsible for all the lights in the inner room. There are no curtains on the windows of the inner room and the outer room, so they have a greater influence on each other. . In addition, the windows are not well insulated and it is indeed a bit noisy at night.

Rented hour rate room. The room is very tiny also the restroom. The shower tab was not in good condition. The water flew very slow and very hot, could not control the temperature at all. Im in hurry so I did not have enough time for changing the room. The A/C was not working well, take some time to cold. The A/C bottoms are in Chinese. The translator was used. staff could not speak english, I understood that but the staff was not so friendly or having service mind.

Really nice hotel. Great location and near a lot of attractions. I found value in staying here due to the convenience of near by attractions but I chose to eat outside of the hotel because the prices are high. The bar drinks were not good and made with very little alcohol and far too much ice. High price as well. There happened to be some famous actor staying at the hotel and security blocked access to a couple floors so I couldn't access the elevator to get to my room after check in so that was really annoying. Eventually I was able to get to the room and it was nice. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. A bit small but nice none the less.

I am very happy with the service rendered by the staff from the hotel. They were very kind, polite, friendly and helpful. I left on 9 June (one day before their dumpling festive) which was very crowded and packed with ppl hence the staff helped to carry my 24kg luggage to the pick-up point and ensure the driver came to the right place to pick me up to the airport.. I will recommend it if u are looking for a place that is convenient to shop and to metro stations.
The bad part is u can't alight at the front door of the hotel. Need to make a detour and will suggest u to check their public holiday before booking ur flight.
Overall it was a good stay at this hotel.

PPenelopeWe just had an amazing stay at this hotel. The room was not only spotlessly clean, but also spacious and comfortable, offering everything one could need for a perfect rest. The location of the hotel is excellent, allowing easy access to various points of interest in the city.
The reception staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, always with a smile and willing to help with anything needed. The breakfast is first class, with an excellent variety that changes daily, making every morning a new culinary experience.
In addition, the hotel offers washing and drying machines, which is extremely convenient. We were provided with all the bottled water we needed and umbrellas were readily available. This is definitely a hotel we will return to - highly recommended!
AASLSEnjoyed my stay here very much. The location is very nice and about 20 minutes walk from South Sha'anxi Road metro station. Very bustling area with lots of interesting shops and large malls nearby. Room was a bit small but had everything I needed and was clean with a comfortable shower and bathroom. Staff was very nice and helpful, and could also speak some English. Overall enjoyed my stay and worth the price, and I'd stay here again next time! Thanks!!
RRiiyaaSummarize in short : they should keep this place only for Chinese speaker, not recommend for traveller with other languages.
Base from my true experiences, I booked here the night before traveling to Shanghai. Once I check out from hotel in Guangzhou, front desk lady help me called reception at Shanghai Novotel Hotel Chuansha to ask if they can pick me and my partner at Pudong Airport as they advertised for a complimentary shuttle bus.
The lady at Novotel cannot speak English so I passed to the front desk lady in Guangzhou and got to know that I have to book a shuttle bus a day ahead. I accepted this because I read info, just have hope if they could help customer with this, anyway I flew to Shanghai and went hotel by myself.
On the way to Shanghai, I still have hope that receptionist at NOVOTEL will be able to speak English. When I arrived there, I met 3 receptionists and NONE OF THEM CAN SPEAK ENGLISH. We had a tough time to communicate. I have my own language and English, also broken Chinese but we still not understand each other. I had to call a friend of mine in Taiwan to speak Chinese to them.
Again, I wanted to book a shuttle bus to Disney land for the next day and they ask me to have a Wechat app to see a detail and communicate. Since I do not have China mainland mobile number so I cannot make a Wechat work on my phone. My ********* friend still help me out with this.
At that time, another lady came, seem like she work for shuttle bus thing. I do understand that Chinese tone of voice always loud but I cannot see mercy on her face. She consisted that we still need a Wechat. One lady there said, I have to take a taxi without Wechat even though the hotel provided us a free shuttle bus to Disneyland. At this point I a little upset as there is no choice that they can call or set me a time for my travel, _ucking asked me to take a taxi. I do not mind to pay for taxi but we have never been here so we worry about other unexpected factor could happen.
Further more, I went there on my girlfriend birthday to celebrate her birthday. I decided to take it here a last minute and I asked if they could have a card written Happy Birthday to her. Only I know is ”NO CARD, NO CARD!!!! bad service mind ever, disappointed and felt give up with Novotel
Yes, I picked NOVOTEL because I really hope they provided international services. I was a member of ACCOR PLUS and experienced such good services but since I experienced here, I am a failure.
I actually have 2 more nights in Shanghai after 2nights here. I was thinking to move out all the time because me and my partner felt suffocate with a service. I do not talk to them anymore as it is useless T___T
I even tried with my broken Chinese but I cannot feel that they put an effort to serve their guesses. No bellboy, air-conditioning at public area is pretty warm.
To be honest, the place is good, bed is comfy and we tired from playing things in Disney land park so I extended to book for one more night then I do not need to rush for checking out. I went reception floor, this time a girl with glasses, seem kind and she is fluent in English help me check in for my last night here :)
Whole time staying here I kept my mouse shut because don't want to feel unpleasant anymore and I feel like the robot that delivery food downstairs is working better than human lol.
Eventually, I did tried until I can log into Wechat to found that the text were written in Chinese only. I still can travel with a hotel shuttle bus even I do not read thing on Wechat (我看不懂) 😔 I definitely won't be back here even things are good.
Hotel is providing everything we needed which is good but they should hire people who able to speak English or people who able to use translate on google and else to communicate as they open for the whole world guess. Not only Chinese on earth but also another language exists. Last thing, key of hospitality is ”SERVICE MIND”
GGuest Useryou get what you pay for! There’s a reason why it’s expensive! I have stayed in many super five-star hotels in Shanghai! Bulgari is indeed the best here! Details matter! Bulgari reflects it!
First of all, in the first few days of our stay, Miss Vicky, the director of the guest relations department, took the initiative to contact us, added her contact information, and asked us about our check-in time, any needs, etc.! And upgraded our room type for free! The service is very considerate!
After checking in on the day of check-in, he took the initiative to introduce us to the hotel and the room, and thoughtfully prepared welcome fruits, tea and desserts for us! Welcome sign, and luggage tag with our own names...
The room facilities are all very high-end! Very clean! The service is also very good! Good looking, warm and friendly, they made us feel like home!
Breakfast can be delivered to our room, it is delicious and unique!
The gym is very large, and there are dedicated staff to provide water, towels and cut fruits!
In addition, the afternoon tea is delicious! The view from the top terrace is beautiful!
Finally, considering our flight, they also provided us with a late check-out for free! They gave us valuable chocolates and candies before leaving! All in all, I am very satisfied with this experience. I will come to Shanghai again during the Qingming Festival and will continue to stay at Bulgari!
CcamiespinosaWe loved our stay in the hotel, staff was very friendly and helpful, Amanda in the front desk was really nice and helped us with everything. They gave us an extra coupon to use in the SPA which we also recommend. Overall it was great, will go back again!

GGuest User+ It´s comfortable because it´s on Line 2, where you can go to the Bund, and to both airports.
On the airport are also many restaurants and a convenient store.
The rooms are big and comfortable.
The breakfast is big and very tasty.
The TV has CNN and HBO, so it´s possible to watch TV in English too.
- My room was a non-smoking room but it smelled a lot like cigarettes unfortunately, which was quiet annoying.
Some design things (like window frame, shower,...) are dirty or rusty, but that´s normal in China as far as I know.
The Wi-Fi is okay, just a little bit slow.
The heater is central, so it feels a little bit cool in the room, you can turn on the ”heater” but it just blows out cold air, even on heating mode.

HhannahbananahI love Yiqinyuan for the calm and peaceful forest, I walked by myself during the last day and if you do visit, try to do it without any gadget. Just bring your keycard. Walk through the tall trees, hear the birds, feel the sun and inhale fresh air.
It is very sad that I have a non-refundable ticket that made me not enjoy the accomodation I booked. Since it was the coldest day of the year they decided to move all guests who stays in the container van rooms to their building rooms. To move In their main building I need to add more payment and we were relocated to building 5. It was also an advantage since the Foresta Cafe was there and the playroom (not so much in there but still worth the visit). However, the room we were in was so dusty, the aircon was blowing some dusty air and the carpet was so dirty. It ruined the whole trip and even of they were able to change the beddings and vacuum the carpet it was still tickling our noses. We were really looking forward to a nice Christmas trip but yeah. I booked 3 nights because we really love the place. 😭 The next day I asked again to be moved to a different room, they said they were fully booked but alas there was an available room next to us. The first room was so inconvenient because whenever we turn the lights off the WIFI also goes off. The fridge was not working well, the temperature outside was much better. The second room was better than the first room but the exhaust fan wasn't working.
The breakfast was only located in the main restaurant which was 15 mins (waiting for the electric car) away from our building. It was a race to get to breakfast and the seating was not enough to be near the buffet. Time is running and you have Marathon between your table and the buffet table. Food was great though they alternate between the dates. Dinner was also good and had great service but not so much choice of small dished for a small family. Local food at it's best!
La Foresta Cafe was interesting. They helped us keep our Christmas pies in their fridge. The only way to order was via the QR on the table but the catch was you have to pay right away for your order to go through which waa different from the main restaurant. So there we were waiting for our food but they didn't really get through and had to end up sitting and waiting for an hour. The next day it took 30 mins. for the food to come. The taste was good serving was big, can share.
The electric cars were very prompt and the drivers were very kind and polite.
The food again was really yummy!
The staff were friendly too.
You can buy swan/duck feed at 5rmb/2 packs at the coffee shop at the reception.
They were giving away eyemask and heatpacks.
The bottles water was also free. The snack at the room was cheaper than the vending machine.
It is far from the town so make sure you have what you need before heading to the resort.
They have hangers and iron in every room at building 5 where we stayed.
Not a lot of English speaking staff so bring some Mandarin phrases or get ready with a translator APP.
After a long mixed review I just wish that the resort informed us ahead that the accomodation will not be available and made an option for rebooking or ensure better accomodation it was really a hassle.

Great view from my room can even see the Jing’an temple from my window.
Great service and enjoyed the indoor swimming pool .
A guy name Gordan even did an amazing job with nails
XXiaolumengbaoThe little brother who drinks and checks in is also the big 🌞 Tai Xiaoyang, hahahaha, it will make people happy. I'm also very good at playing with stalkers and humorous. I have to say that he is still a glutton👻. This person is really good. When he checked in, he really made me laugh.
I said I wanted to eat McDonald's and hamburgers. Xiao M will help me find something to eat immediately... The little clever ghost is also very considerate.
Then the layout of the hotel. THE LOBBY IS VERY LARGE, WITH AN AREA OF SEVERAL THREE BEDROOMS AND ONE LIVING ROOM. THERE ARE THREE ROBOTS RUBBISH🤖, AND YOU CAN SEE THE THREE-PIECE SET OF THE BUND...
The hotel's WIFI, Tai Xiaoyang 🌞, also enthusiastically taught me again and again, and was warmed up.
I also went to the Bund in the evening, and this hotel is also very close to the Bund. It's good.
The style of the hotel is good. Yes, the magic capital at night is very beautiful, and the night cruise ship Huangpu River is also very good.
The hotel seems to be carefully managed, haha, the front desk service training is also very good...
The guest room aunt is also very good. It looks very hard, and there is also a zither, which is growing in Shanghai.
Very good, not bad 👍, special 🎉
YyI_xXThe service attitude of the staff in this hotel is obviously polarizing.
Check-in was in the evening, and a young female staff member chatted with us while we were waiting, introduced the design of the hotel, and took the initiative to take photos of the family. The lobby was empty, and there was no place for the elderly people traveling with me to sit while they waited for me to check in. Kody assisted us in checking in that night. His service attitude was very friendly and polite. Although he was a little unskilled in paying the deposit with a Visa card, another female staff member finally stepped in to complete the transaction. When Kody sent us to the room, he enthusiastically introduced the design of the hotel and the bar on the top floor. We were very impressed with the doorman that night and several staff at the front desk, including Kody.
After entering the room, what comes into view is another building of the hotel, which has a strong visual impact. Only by walking to the bedside position by the window can we see the view of the Oriental Pearl Tower we booked. The unobstructed panoramic view is very beautiful! The decoration in the room smells rather pungent. I called the switchboard to request a purifier. Monica who answered the phone had a cold but polite attitude and introduced herself. Later, we found that the air conditioner could not be turned on, so we called Monica and asked Monica to arrange repairs. When she called for the third time, Monica seemed a little impatient when she answered the phone. Isn’t it her job to understand customer needs? Why do you show impatience? I'm confused about this.
At around 11 o'clock in the evening, when I was waiting for my friend to pick me up on the right side of the door, I saw several male employees wearing hotel uniforms gathering together to chat and smoke. Doesn’t the hotel have a designated smoking area for employees that is not visible to guests? Their attire represents the image of the hotel and this behavior is really disappointing.
We visited the bar on the top floor of the hotel that night and saw the stunning view of the Oriental Pearl Tower and the Bund. The photos are attached here. The price of a cocktail is 108, which is a reasonable price for such a beautiful view.
The air quality seemed to have improved upon returning to the room from the bar. However, after a night's sleep, I woke up with a headache, thirst, and stinging eyes. We originally booked two nights, but after negotiating with the hotel through Ctrip, they agreed to check out one day early. After handling the communication issues, I hurried to the public area downstairs to get some fresh air and enjoy the breakfast provided by the hotel. Breakfast is a semi-buffet style, the food tastes good, and the restaurant staff are also very active and enthusiastic.
When we returned to the room after breakfast, a staff member went to the wrong door and asked to help us close the window. Only then did we discover that the originally closed window could be opened.
When I checked out, I saw a linen cart pulling a load of pillows in the passenger elevator. I was shocked... I have never experienced having to squeeze into an elevator with a linen cart. I asked in disbelief: ”Is this a pillow?” The other party replied naturally: ”Yes.” During this period, there was another linen truck on the lower floor that wanted to come in, but saw that the elevator was full and had to give up.
When I checked out, I saw the police talking to the hotel staff. Several people were standing right in front of the check-out counter, blocking my way. I asked: ”Did something happen to your hotel?” Vincent at the front desk looked shocked and answered me: ”Nothing happened.” Later, a female staff member from Macau explained to me that there was an important meeting nearby. So the police came to inquire about the situation. I suggested that they could direct the police to a more appropriate location to communicate instead of blocking the front desk. However, they still didn't move. Vincent then asked me my name. There were several people standing closely next to me. For the sake of protecting privacy, I asked Vincent why he asked for my name while holding my room card holder. After all, I had already told him my room number. He looked shocked again... Then Yiko intervened and kindly told me that the computer system was faulty, so I needed to ask my name for a manual match. During this period, the girl at the front desk asked Vincent to stand aside. I sincerely thank this considerate young lady😅
Yiko asked me about my stay experience and I told the truth. He said that he would follow up and improve the problem with the linen truck, saying that this was something that should not be done, and took the initiative to add my WeChat account, expressing his hope that he can provide me with the best service next time. However, I didn't receive any messages after adding it.
While waiting for the taxi, the previously mentioned female staff member from Macau stayed with us, heard that we were from Hong Kong, and spoke to us kindly in Cantonese. The staff's patience and thoughtfulness greatly increased our favorable impression of the hotel.
