A scholar once visited the ancient house, passionately pointing to each carving from dusk until late at night, expounding on its meaning. Authentic Qing Dynasty timber structures breathe, and the carvings on the beams and pillars tell their own stories. The surroundings, framed by flowing water and small bridges, create a natural immersive theater. A live Kunqu opera performance of the Peony Pavilion in Kezhi Garden is also available, where you can sleep by the water amidst the carved beams and pillars. Come and experience authentic historical settings through in-depth cultural exploration, becoming a new storyteller.

Officially designated a protected cultural relic site by the Shanghai Qingpu District Cultural Relics Management Committee in 1997, the Shu Residence is one of the first batch of registered immovable cultural relics in Shanghai. Zhujiajiao Ancient Town was listed as a famous historical and cultural town in Shanghai in 1991. The ancient town has a network of rivers, nine century-old streets winding along the river, and thousands of Ming and Qing buildings standing by the water.
