Shanghai Bund Yiwan Hotel Reviews

The location is very good which is just opposite the east nanjing road metro station and nanjing road is just 2 streets away. The bund is also within walking distance. However, the accommodation is not that good. The room we got were not sound proof and the neighbouring rooms occupied by korean visitors were very noisy throughout the night (they must have been drinking and started shouting and banging stuff). The drainage of the shower is problematic with water clogged and flooding when taking shower. The water heater let out continuous noise every once in a while. The shower area is separated from the lavatory bowl by just a shower curtain that is not fully covering up to the floor. Hence whenever we shower, the bathroom will be wet. The wash basin is located inside the room, outside the toilet. Hence, whenever someone uses the basin to wash their hands, it will disturb other people who are sleeping in the room. The beds are not very comfortable with the bed on the bed frame sinking down in the middle. The bed on the floor is just another mattress laid on the floor without any bed frame etc. There is also constant sound of people flushing their toilet from the floor above and water rushing through the pipes which can be heard from our room. The shopkeepers downstairs are very loud in the morning and at night which is all heard inside the room. We could barely sleep all night. Bottled water is also not provided, but available for purchase at rmb2 per 550ml bottle from the reception which is at 3rd floor. There is no lift in the hotel and you’ll have to carry your big luggage up 3 flights of stairs to get to the reception at 3rd floor. If you’re in shanghai mainly to visit the bund and to shop at nanjing street, then this hotel is an affordable acceptable place to stay the night provided you’re not easily disturbed when you sleep. Otherwise, you can get better hotels at other locations further from the bund with better services and amenities. The bund and nanjing street is easily accessible via the metro train. Just find an accommodation near to the metro station and you’ll be able to get to these places easily.
