Hotel Solaia

📍 33 Strada Nives, Selva di Val Gardena
★★★ 8.8 (20 reviews)

"1h bus ride from Ponta Gardena train station. Perfect starting point for exploring the dolomites with trails and cable cars at your door step. Staff super friendly (just be mindful of their available hours as the reception is closed at times). The room I booked was basic with no amenities (no fridge, no kettle). Local supermarkets close around 7pm so plan accordingly! All in all great stay, thank you!"

"The price is reasonable. Our family of four has two bedrooms and a living room that are very spacious, clean and convenient. The hotel is also in a good location, about a 15-minute drive from Blade's Edge Mountain. The hotel has its own parking lot for self-driving tourists."

"My stay here was one my favorites. The family was so welcoming. From helping us decide where to hike and how to navigate the chair lifts and buses to being anxious to hear about our day upon our return. The food was fabulous. The views were out of this world. But it’s was the family and the staff that really made the trip for me. Please go and enjoy!"

"Hotel: the hotel was perfect for our family of 4, 2 adults 2 teens. We had a large suiite, really spacious and modern with 2 separate sleeping areas and 2 bathrooms. The spa is really lovely with a choice of saunas, steams and relaxation areas. It never seemed crowded, a perfect way to end a day on the slopes. Our package was half board, a daily breakfast with everything you’d want, and quality evening meals offering an array of traditional and European foods. You can eat as much or as little as you want from the buffet or à la carte menu. Overall the hotel has a quality feel, a large inviting bar area and modern ski locker room. Location: the only consideration is that the hotel Is not ski in ski out, however the daily private shuttle Is prompt and efficient and the nearest lifts are only a short walk away. Service:the service in the hotel has been all in all fantastic, I want to highlight Nadia our waitress in the restaurant, she is absolutely superb, makes you feel so welcome, she would be an asset in any restaurant or fine dining establishment, absolute quality. She was away one evening and I had to ask for someone to take our food request and had no desert due to the waitress not being attentive. Skiing: the ski area is so vast, I would however say if you are a beginner then some of the runs will be challenging, if you are intermediate or advanced then you will absolutely love the Dolomites, the snow quality this week has been absolutely superb and the Sallaronda is a great tour for anyone to complete."

Garni Hotel Bel Vert

"This hotel is a real gem, just on the edge of the town a few minutes walking distance from a ski lift that gives direct access to the incredible mountains. The owners/staff were genuinely aiming to make our stay perfect. Rooms very spacious and beautifully appointed, scrupulously clean. We spent two nights here, wished we had stayed longer. Private parking directly outside. Stunning views. One of our favourite hotels in the Dolomites."

"Excellent family hotel. Very well located, about 80 metres from the ski lifts. Impeccable cleanliness, and services of a superior hotel. Free parking in the hotel itself. The breakfast is superb. Herbert, the owner, is always willing to advise you on the best tours of the resort and any other help you may need. The rest of the staff are equally friendly. Excellent value for money, highly recommended."

"Despite a few imperfections (the cocktails were overpriced, lol), this was a special place to stop for a few days. The pool is SO MUCH FUN. I also really enjoyed the gym. It was big, lovely to be in, and well stocked. We had dinner in both restaurants and actually enjoyed the simpler one more. It had a KILLER salad bar, easily my favorite meal of a week+ trip. Breakfasts are delicious, too. No regrets!"

"Stayed for three nights in early June just as the hotel reopened. Most of the town was also still awakening, so it was probably a lot quieter than it would be in full summer. I say this as a tip not to arrive earlier than mid June if you want all cable cars open and restaurants back in business. You can get a park most places however! Selva Val Gardena is well placed for seeing the sites but we used the bus to go to Ortisei (where some of the big sites start) to avoid parking worries and costs. The hotel was fantastic, a great modern fit out, large room and bathroom where nothing could be faulted. Our room faced the piazza and the main road through town, and had a large balcony also. Noise levels were not noticeable and soundproofing excellent. The breakfast was good, and we ate in the hotel’s restaurant for 2 nights and had great food and experiences also. Service from staff was good and parking under the hotel easy - yes you have to pay extra for parking but they allocate a bay to you for your entire stay, so you can come and go as you please. Overall would recommend this hotel and would stay again."

Hotel Miravalle Hotels in Selva

Hotel Miravalle

"The only real positive aspect of this hotel is the location: it is directly on the ski slopes, which makes it convenient for skiing, although it is quite far from the village. I chose this hotel because of its reputation and expected a relaxing stay in a typical mountain environment. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience does not live up to the expectations created by the 4-star rating and the very high prices. Restaurant and breakfast The restaurant was quite disappointing. Appetizers were served cold, portions were very small, and the wine selection was surprisingly limited. Breakfast was probably the biggest letdown. In a mountain hotel you expect traditional products, local cold cuts and homemade pastries. While these items were technically present, everything felt industrial. The croissants and bread seemed frozen and reheated, the overall choice was limited, and the quality was mediocre. Espresso and cappuccino are charged extra, and the American coffee was particularly poor. Overall, breakfast felt more like a standard business hotel buffet than what you would expect from a mountain resort. Spa The spa area was also below expectations. The herbal teas were cold and the only food available was apples. Once they were finished, they were not replenished, not even the following day. Small details like this make the whole experience feel poorly managed. Rooms and services The structure itself feels dated in many areas, with a very noticeable difference between the older rooms and the renovated ones. For a hotel at this price level, this contrast is difficult to justify. Some policies also felt unreasonable. A bottle of water costs €4 and appears to be filled with tap water, yet if you ask for tap water in a carafe it is refused. Even basic items such as slippers are charged separately. The toiletries (shampoo and creams) also do not appear to follow environmentally sustainable standards, which is surprising for a hotel positioning itself at a premium level. Overall Apart from the ski-in/ski-out location, the hotel does not deliver the level of quality, service or authenticity one would expect from a 4-star mountain resort. Overall the experience felt overpriced and well below expectations, and simply not worth the price. In the same area there are several hotels of similar price that offer a much higher standard and a more authentic mountain experience."

"I want to express my gratitude to every member of staff for looking after our family and making our stay so welcome, relaxed and easy to comply with our busy every day needs which varied for every family member. I felt my children were safe and self dependant here, thus helped me to relax and encouraged the growth of their self dependancy. This is a big factor for me as a mother and also speaks volumes of the place and staff. Its been a comfortable and a pleasant stay, food was incredible, especially Tyrollean dinner! Receptionist, waiters, waitresses, bartenders highly professional and friendly at the same time. Thank you from all 6 of us!"

"I recently visited the Portillow for a 5 night stay with my wife and 2 college aged daughters for a ski trip. My family found it to be an absolutely wonderful property. We had 2 rooms, one with a queen and the other 2 separate beds for the girls. They were very spacious and tastefully decorated, with wonderful bathrooms and a great sunset view. The entire hotel was gorgeous and all of the staff we interacted with were extremely polite, accomodating and very friendly. The hotel has an enormous spa area. The indoor pool was surrounded by italian paintings and statues and cushioned chairs/beds to relax on. There was another outdoor pool, steam room, and a sauna. We used it daily and it was really wonderful. Only suggestions I might offer would be to keep it open later. It closed at 7:30 at night so made it difficult to ski, then apres ski, then make it back to use the spa before going back out for dinner. First world probelms! But if it was open until 9 or 10 I know we would have taken advantage of it after dinner. We had dinner in their gourmet restaurant one of the nights and it was very good. Also visited daily for breakfast before skiing. They had a great buffet with an assortment of local pastries, fresh fruits, granolas, meats and cheese, etc. There is also a really good restaurant right across the street that is super convenient to eat at. A covered garage was available to store the rental car we brought from Venice. We used it a bit to explore but otherwise the hotel ran a regular shuttle to and from the ski mountain. Having traveled a fair amount and living in a resort area ourselves, I found the Portillo to be an amazing property. Highly recommend it to anyone travelling to the Dolomites!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room was very clean and comfortable with beautiful views. The hotel is positioned at the beginning of Selva and across the road from the bus stop. The local bus goes to Santa Cristina and Ortisei. The centre of Selva and the Ciampinoi Cable Car are within easy walking distance. Breakfast was superb and included lots of healthy options. Complimentary afternoon tea and pastries were served every afternoon. There is also free parking either directly outside the hotel or in a nearby secure parking area. We definitely recommend this hotel."

Hotel Oswald Hotels in Selva

"This hotel has many good points. The bedrooms are a decent size with comfy beds. The new spa is well designed and run with a beautiful small infinity pool with a view of the mountains. The spa manager Maria was excellent. The bar team are really friendly and looked after us well, especially the senior barman who took the trouble to know our names and what we drank. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful. The maitre d’ was also very attentive in the restaurant. The shuttle bus to the slopes was really useful. However the one thing that let the hotel down was the evening meal. The food just wasn’t very good. Undercooked (almost raw) cod one night with odd raspberry sauce, dry pasta dishes, tasteless meat, almost no vegetables etc. This was a real letdown as we have had amazing food elsewhere in Selva in the past. If they sort this out the hotel would be excellent."

Hotel Monte44 Hotels in Selva

"What can I say about this hotel, everything is perfect, you couldn't ask for more, from the location a stone's throw from the centre, from the almost obsessive cleanliness, spotlessly clean rooms, very comfortable bed and pillow, quiet. But what makes the difference is the owner Monica, always present, very kind, very friendly, always ready to give useful advice, and last but not least an excellent cook helped by her mother. I recommend dinner (must try the homemade dumplings made by mother) And finally a comfortable SPA. Best regards to Monica, we will definitely be back"

"We stayed at hotel Freina in early February. We had stayed previously 9 years ago. The hotel has change greatly with a lot of modernisation but the overall feel had not changed. The family and staff are so friendly. The service was wonderful. Special mention to Roberto, Manuel and Thiago who looked after us very well. The breakfasts and dinners were wonderful. The hotel is truly ski in and ski out. The boot room has had a significant upgrade which was a real treat. As a large family group we have a very pleasant stay and will be back."
