The view from the room was stunning, with a clear sight of Huangqishan. "I absolutely loved my stay at the Royal Garden Hotel. The hotel is clean and beautiful, the service is great and the staff is helpful, kind and friendly. On my first day I ordered food to my room and because it was busy (May holiday rush) my food took a while to arrive but the duty manager Mr King came to assure me that, that's not the kind of service I should expect from them going forward and to apologize for the delay. Needless to say, I enjoyed my full stay there without any problems. The front desk staff was also helpful whenever I needed help with anything. I'll definitely visit again."

From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the elegant Lingnan style design and impeccable service. Room & Amenities The room was beautifully appointed and thoughtfully laid out, offering both comfort and functionality. A standout feature was the separate toilet and bath, which added a touch of sophistication and convenience. The modern furnishings, high-quality bedding, and spacious layout made for a truly relaxing stay. Location The hotel is situated in one of Dongguan’s most vibrant districts, surrounded by bustling energy and endless entertainment options. Adjacent to the property is a massive shopping mall, providing guests with easy access to retail, dining, and leisure activities. Executive Lounge Experience Though located on a lower floor, the Executive Lounge is a true gem. The selection of delicacies was exceptional, with a variety of gourmet bites and premium beverages. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the warm and attentive service—special thanks to Steven and Freya, who went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. Their professionalism and genuine hospitality made every visit to the lounge delightful. Overall Impression Without a doubt, the InterContinental Dongguan stands as the best hotel in the city. Its combination of modern luxury, prime location, and outstanding service—especially from staff like Steven and Freya—makes it a top recommendation for both business and leisure travelers. "Hotel gives me big surprise in the room for my birthday celebration trip. Thanks! Service is really good and staff are polite. One suggestion to improve is to install USB charger as my phone cannot get charged over the night since I don’t have the electric plug for my USB line. "For this trip, I booked the most basic room type for a 2-day stay on Trip.com, which is ideal for a parent traveling with one child from Shenzhen. Room Environment: The room felt quite humid, but since I'm sensitive to smells, I brought my own sandalwood diffuser, which helped. The room came with a dehumidifier, a heated towel rail, and a bathtub – definitely thoughtful amenities. Activities: If you're looking for water fun, this is the place! It has everything: pools, a water park, and hot springs. You can bring your own swim rings and inflate them at the hotel. My child had a blast for two days, consistently renting electric water guns and mini yachts, which was genuinely entertaining. Manual rowing is available for 68 RMB per hour, a reasonable price comparable to kayaking. The large lawn is perfect for evenings, featuring outdoor movies and live singing performances (which were rather mediocre). Let's talk about the food: We saw some people ordering takeout on the lawn, which seemed convenient, but we decided to eat all our meals at the hotel. The buffet dinner was 300 RMB per person. My 8-year-old, being 1.4m tall, was charged the adult price. This might be due to the large summer holiday crowds, especially many guests from Hong Kong. We queued for oysters but only managed to get 6 in total, which felt like poor value for money. The next day, we switched to the Han Palace Chinese restaurant. The 2-person set meal was 198 RMB, plus an extra fried rice for 58 RMB (a 15% service charge applies). As a registered hotel member (lowest tier), we received a 5% discount. The food was tasty and offered good value for money. However, if ordering a la carte at full price, a simple meal would easily cost 150-200 RMB per person. Service: Overall, it was excellent, and everyone was very friendly and enthusiastic. My child injured their foot in the bathroom, and the staff promptly brought iodine and band-aids. (The door stopper on the bathtub was quite a design flaw). I was invited to leave a review after checking out. Given the effort involved in writing a detailed review, I decided to type all this out. I hope the hotel maintains its current occupancy rate, and perhaps the basic room types will be renovated soon too~"

"During the Qingming Festival, I went outing with my family. As I have a puppy, chain hotels are not very convenient. This hotel has a pet room and a special dog kennel. Very considerate service! The front desk delayed check-in by ten minutes due to room cleaning, and also specially gave a breakfast with rich varieties! There are many people on holidays, and the freshly cooked soup noodles are a bit in short supply! But it is understandable, I may consider staying again next weekend!"

"I visited teh hotel as part of my visit to family. It is a clean and nice hotel, expensive although i came for long stay. I was at the hotel 11 days and am coming soon again. I did not see that a long stay is awarded a disount and is same as a short stay. This is not right i think. I was not privilaged my the hotel to any benefits since i was there 11 days.. even when there was a hotel mistake with laundry they appologized however i would expect some benefit (free coffee?) I had a gass of wine every night hwoever no discount for a long stay. The hotel staff is very very nice, try to help however they really dont know english. so many qustions i could not get answered in depth. I want to come again, for 17 nights.. can i know how to receive a discount?"

"Great Hotel with Excellent Facilities, But Poor Tennis Court Experience We stayed at this hotel recently and overall had a very pleasant experience. The hotel is located just 700 meters from the metro, making it easy to reach. The property is spacious and includes an outdoor pool, indoor pool, sauna, gym, a tennis court (details below), a large dining hall, and two separate massage areas offering various treatments. Room & Service: The rooms are clean and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised with a free upgrade to a larger room upon arrival. The staff were friendly and polite. Food: We’d rate the food 3.5 out of 5. The buffet is advertised as European, but the dishes lean heavily toward Chinese cuisine. Breakfast wasn’t to our taste, so we decided to skip dinner. Massage: There are two massage salons. We booked a foot massage, but the therapists ended up giving us an almost full-body massage, paying extra attention to sore areas. It was a wonderful experience — 5 out of 5. Pools & Sauna: Both pools are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. If you prefer fewer people, we recommend the indoor pool around 7 a.m. and the outdoor one around 2 p.m. The pools were clean and warm, and we appreciated the Swedish sauna in the locker room. Again — 5 stars. Gym: The gym is well-equipped and never crowded. Open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. — another 5 stars. Tennis Court: Unfortunately, this was the only major disappointment. Despite several attempts to book and show up at the scheduled time, no staff were present. Phone calls were ignored or we were told, “I don’t have time to talk.” We eventually got a refund (booked via *******), but the experience was frustrating and unprofessional. Rating: 1 out of 5. Overall: Aside from the tennis court issue, we were very happy with our stay and would recommend this hotel to others. Great amenities, clean rooms, and a peaceful environment."
