"Felt super scary at first with the cracking floor, tilted walls, big mirror, and 512 years history, but later the place showed its charm - very lively at night with people chilling at the backyard, nice restaurant on site, being right opposite to the Anne? Gate which leads you to the Salisbury Cathedral. I prob would choose to stay here again next time I visit Salisbury! Btw the staff are warm hearted and helped us deal with our Apple Watch forgot in the room. Much appreciated!"

"We stayed here for 3 nights, the room was comfortable, clean and spacious. There was plenty of parking and an overflow car park. There is a petrol garage, Greggs Burger King and subway next door, the nearby town of Amesbury is about a 10 minute walk where we found Aldi. Stonehenge is close by, about a 10 minute drive. We also went to Salisbury and longleat safari park. We had a comfortable stay and I would stay again if in the area."

"Absolute shambles, some staff couldn’t speak English. Encouraged to book meal deal on evening of stay. On arrival at restaurant we were told that they had no chips, and as most meals came with chips was just a nightmare. I wanted fish & chips and member of staff said you can have it with rice or salad. According to the only member of staff that understood English they had ran out of chips the day previous. So why were we encouraged to have an evening meal without knowing this. On the plus side room was nice but had to ask for another towel. Please avoid! !"

"What a lovely guest house. We arrived damp and cold , but our room was lovely and toasty. A kettle, teapot, bottle of water, glasses, and mugs with teabags etc were provided on a tray in our room. We were given a list from which we could choose a breakfast time and food. We were worried that staying in a guesthouse would mean lots of interaction with the owners, but here it was just right. We were the only guests, so we were able to park our large car. This may be more problematic during a busy spell. We had a good night’s sleep and a nice breakfast experience. We had a chat to the owners’ son who was the breakfast chef. We would definitely stay here again, and it is within walking distance of the shops etc ( we headed out once the pouring rain had stopped to find a meal). I forgot; our room (2) had a small two seater chair which was really handy. There were also small toiletry bottles and a decent hairdryer. They’d thought of everything I think , that you need for a good stay ( although the bath towels could do with being bigger)."

"Don't let Google street view deceive you. This place was buzzing on the day we arrived and then transformed into a quiet country hotel at night. A comfortable stay, amazing monsoon power shower in our room, enthusiastic cheerful staff, local products and produce, at dinner a leek tart to die for, waiter/waitress service at breakfast!"

"In the past year or so, I've travelled from Sunderland several times to visit newly acquainted friends in Dorset, and fell in love with area. I always visit the King John for drinks or a meal during my brief stays to the area, the place was highly recommended. This was my first opportunity to stay as a hotel guest. The welcome I always receive is warm and courteous, and the service very professional. The staff take an interest in their guests without being intrusive in conversations. The selection of food and drinks is outstanding, with staff happy to give advice. The atmosphere in the restaurant area is helped by the cosy log fire, decor and finely balanced non intrusive background music. I must compliment all the staff for the way everything is spotlessly clean - glasses sparkle in the candlelight for example, very romantic. The quality of your food is outstanding and I can honestly say my girlfriend and I were so happy with all our meals. My room was warm and comforting, bed very comfortable. The shower thermostat needed a bit of jiggling to get hot. The wifi signal in the evenings was poor at times, then again, the inn is surrounded by hills and the weather has been horrendous this week. I was happy with "value for money" as this was the best UK hotel experience I've ever had. Well done everyone! Regards David Miller"
