A walk along the lake is incredibly therapeutic. You can also take a boat trip and play in the water; you won't want to leave! The hotel is decent, with a great location. 🍒 A must-try: Black Forest cake! Watching the master chef make it live, his technique is superb. The famous Black Forest cake gets its name from this. Chocolate, cherries, and cream—sweet but not cloying, absolutely amazing! 🕰️ The wall of cuckoo clocks amazed me! Every hour on the hour, all the clocks move together. Each mechanism is so cute it makes you want to scream! 😍 So many stories behind the cuckoo clocks. Traditional craftsmanship + whimsical ideas = German romance 💕"

"Hotel Saigerhöh – Mixed Feelings Our experience at Hotel Saigerhöh left us with mixed feelings, but I’ll try to describe it as accurately as possible. From the moment we arrived, things felt a bit off. The hotel is located at the end of a dead-end street, past a football field and a small construction site, surrounded by a bit of forest and perched on top of a hill. While the view over the valley from the hotel is indeed stunning, the building itself and its architectural style are rather uninspiring. Upon arrival, we were offered a welcome drink on a small, half-covered terrace—which also serves as the hotel's main smoking area. I understand that smoking is still relatively common in Germany, but we stayed there for no more than five minutes. When I told the reception staff I didn’t want to sit among smokers and asked if this was a usual practice, they seemed quite puzzled by the question. The hotel is large and spread across both sides of the street, connected by underground tunnels. We were given a short tour by a student worker, which was helpful. Our room was very spacious but extremely dated—the decor felt like it hadn’t changed since my grandmother’s time. It was hard to feel comfortable in it. The bathroom, however, had been recently renovated, so I suspect not all rooms have been updated yet. The wellness area is appreciated and has potential, but given the available space, more could certainly be done with it. In the evening, we went for a drink at the bar. Despite there being only three tables with guests, the bartender still managed to take over 30 minutes to serve us two drinks. We had dinner at the hotel only once (at €60 per person), and it was a real disappointment. While the dishes were nicely presented, the quality was far below what you’d expect from a 4-star hotel. The risotto, for instance, was unpleasant and far too salty. The fish was supposedly filleted but had not been cleaned properly—basic mistakes. This lack of quality was also noticeable in the service during both dinner and breakfast. The restaurant staff seemed uncoordinated and lost, with no clear supervision. At one point, our dessert was served to the wrong table, taken back to the kitchen, and then brought to us—by then, the sorbet was completely melted. That was the final straw for us. We decided to eat elsewhere for the remaining four nights. Interestingly, it seemed others had the same idea, as the hotel staff were actively encouraging guests at breakfast to reserve for dinner, even passing around a form to select your meal in advance. Breakfast itself was fairly extensive, but again, not up to 4-star standards. Food wasn’t fresh or properly presented—low-quality salmon, sour "freshly cut" fruit, etc. Also, finding a table on the terrace was a bit of a battle, as there weren’t enough of them. The only real highlights of the hotel were the wellness area and the view. Aside from that, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, and I won’t be returning."

"The location is a bit biased, although the town is not big, a typical European lake area tourist town hotel. The room size is not small, but the facilities and equipment are old. Self-service check-in may not be convenient for tourists who are not used to it or who arrive late. Breakfast service is hard, close to the railway, and there are trains passing by in the morning and evening."

"We spent two nights at the hotel and were satisfied. The room amenities were a bit dated, but the hotel was clean, and they served a delicious breakfast and lunch. The sauna, pool, and massages were all available and perfect for a wellness weekend."

"To get to this hotel, I got off the train and took a bus for about 40 minutes up a winding mountain road. The scenery and air were breathtaking. It's only a two- to three-minute walk from the bus stop, but the distance to the city center is a bit of a drawback. But if you're traveling to truly enjoy nature, it's fine. The building and rooms were quaint, but the bathroom facilities were surprisingly modern and convenient. It was wonderful. There was also a small terrace, but it was a bit inconvenient that there was no coffee pot, so you had to go down to the bar downstairs to make tea. The breakfast was excellent. The bread was delicious, the fruit fresh, and the perfectly soft-boiled eggs were unforgettable. They even brought the coffee pot to the table. There's no market nearby, so we couldn't buy food, so we had to buy it at the hotel restaurant. It feels a bit pricey for a hotel tucked away in the countryside, but I think it's worth it. The natural scenery is so beautiful that I'd stay in this town again next time, but I'd probably look for a slightly more affordable place to stay. But if money is no object, I recommend this hotel."
