"I had no expectations because the reviews said the view of the Matterhorn was not that good, but it was in a perfect location. I was able to see the Matterhorn at sunrise from my room, and I have fond memories of eating breakfast I bought on the balcony. The bathroom was very clean, and I was able to watch Netflix on the hotel TV by connecting a Chromecast. I forgot my charger adapter, but they lent me one right away, and they also helped me store my luggage before check-in. The hotel's customer service was also great."

"Location – 10/10 Nestled high above Zermatt, the Riffelhaus 1853 is accessible via the Gornergrat railway, making the journey itself an adventure. Once you arrive, you’re greeted by panoramic mountain views in every direction, with the iconic Matterhorn standing proudly in front of you. The setting is perfect for ski-in/ski-out access in winter and stunning hiking trails in summer. Rooms – 9/10 The rooms are cozy, modern, and well-equipped while still maintaining a classic Swiss alpine charm. Many rooms come with Matterhorn views, and waking up to this scenery is an experience in itself. The beds are comfortable, and the rustic wooden decor gives a warm, welcoming feel. Some rooms have balconies, which I highly recommend booking for the full experience. Service – 9/10 The staff is friendly, professional, and attentive. Despite the hotel’s remote location, the service is top-notch, with staff going out of their way to accommodate special requests. From seamless check-in to helpful local recommendations, they make the stay even more special. Dining – 8.5/10 The on-site restaurant serves delicious Swiss cuisine, including traditional dishes like fondue and rösti. The breakfast is generous, featuring fresh bread, cheeses, meats, and eggs cooked to order. The only downside is that, due to the remote location, dining options are limited to the hotel restaurant, but the quality makes up for it. Wellness & Spa – 10/10 The outdoor hot tub with a view of the Matterhorn is an absolute highlight! There’s also a sauna and steam bath, perfect after a day of skiing or hiking. Soaking in the warm water while surrounded by snow-capped peaks is an experience worth every penny. Activities – 10/10 Winter: Perfect for skiing, as the hotel is directly on the slopes. The ski room is convenient, and the access to the Gornergrat ski area is unbeatable. Summer: Incredible hiking trails with direct access to the Gornergratbahn for easy excursions to higher altitudes."

"Beautiful accommodation, 4th floor suite (top floor) with a view of Mt. Zermatt. We stayed as a family. Free spa. Delicious Swiss breakfast. Staff gave good advice on traveling around the area. Beautiful room but too dim light. May be more suitable for couples. There is a fire pit (in a glass box) to keep warm in the living room. The extra bed was placed in this living room, making the light from the fire too bright when sleeping. The master bedroom has a glass roof. The electric curtains are broken and cannot be used, must be used manually. This room is very cold. It seems that the heater does not work well."

There are few types of breakfast, especially after staying at sunstar, the difference in breakfast is a bit obvious. In addition, the main door is a bit difficult to find, you have to go up a few stairs and walk through a corridor to get there. I was so tired when I arrived in Zermatt that day, and it was painful to carry the luggage up the stairs. In short, the recommendation index is three and a half stars."

"The hotel is located directly in the small town, which I personally found more convenient for exploring and dining. The room was just right, offering views of the Matterhorn. It's about a 7-8 minute walk from the train station, though the walk takes you in the opposite direction from the main Matterhorn viewpoints. There was no air conditioning, only heating available, which was perfectly fine during summer as we didn't feel the need for AC."

"Enjoyed the stay at the hotel, highly recommended. Hotel staffs were friendly and made a little hotel tour to let us know the facilities. Room arranged by the hotel was great with fantastic Mountain View. Breakfast spread was better than expected. Do note that hotel room does not come with aircondlting. "Booked a family room for 3 adults and 1 child. Service at front counter is excellent! Courteous, friendly and informative. Also we got upgraded! Room is clean and spacious and has a balcony. On going renovation next door during our stay in Oct 2024. Resort has 2 restaurant at the hotel but one apparently requires reservation and has seating time. We were famished when arrived at the restaurant at 8pm, but were told to come back at 830pm for second seating. Such a disappointment when the front counter service was excellent. Had dinner at the pub instead, food wasn’t too bad. Spa facilities was great. Would stay at the same Ola e again. Value for money"

"Perfect hotel. Thanks to Laginabel for providing us with perfect service and upgrading us to a large apartment with a view of the Matterhorn. Here is a summary of the hotel's features: 1. The hotel is very close to Zermatt Station and View Point. It is very convenient to walk there with a suitcase in about 5 minutes. The hotel also provides a free short-term bus (Zermatt's unique battery car). 2. The hotel itself has first-class facilities, especially the new building No. 3 where we stayed this time. The view is also perfect. You can see the view of the view point from the hotel balcony. The spa facilities are also brand new. There are two outdoor swimming pools, one with a higher water temperature and the other with a slightly lower temperature. Both have surfing and massage functions. 3. The hotel service is first-class. When we checked in, the front desk lady personally took us to the room and gave us a Rome tour. The breakfast is also the most abundant in this trip, with fresh smoked salmon sashimi, various hams, cold cuts, fruits and vegetables are all fresh, and there is homelet. 4. The free bus stop of Zermatt Town is right in front of the hotel, which can go anywhere, including Glacier Paradise, Five Lakes Cable Car Station and Negrat Line Train Station."
