"Check-in was a little odd here, and it took a while to get sorted. The hot water wasn't working right in the hotel room; my husband was able to communicate this in his limited Spanish to the employee and this was resolved. We chose to stay in Tababela because we had an early flight in the morning. There was a soccer game across the street making quite a bit of noise, but we were able to drown that out with our noise machine. And then, a bunch of kids showed up in a party bus to have a pool party in the evening. Afterwards, they proceeded to run around the hotel grounds slamming doors. We had to change rooms in the middle of the night to move to a different building that was separate from this large group that was staying here. There is a gate that needs to be manually opened so we needed to wake the guy up in the morning to let us out."

"We loved the uniqueness and location of this hotel. Right in the heart of La Mariscal, it’s very central to everything, close to plenty of bars and restaurants and there’s a Supermaxi supermarket just a few blocks away. We stayed for 6 nights and our spacious room (#4) had a small kitchen, stocked with all the necessary utensils etc, and a secluded patio space overlooking the front of the property and the lovely tree-lined street. The staff were very friendly and helpful (very responsive via WhatsApp) and spoke great English. We’re vegan and they were able to accommodate us at breakfast, with fruit, bread & toast. There’s also a nice vegan restaurant called El Maple very close by."

"The service and care I received from Old town suites Quito is the best that I ever received for all the hotels I have stayed. My flight arrived at Quito in the early morning around 6:40am, I got to the hotel around 7:40am, hotel front desk employee Francisco took my luggages, provided me power cord to charge my phone, and even gave me a delicious breakfast. I felt I have been welcomed into my new home in Quito. The hotel provided milk, yogurt, bread, juice, cheese, eggs, ham, vegetables and fruits for making breakfast yourself or you can tell them ahead of time and they can prepare breakfast for you. I have had amazing experience in this hotel. The hotel location is great and you can walk to old town attractions. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Quito."

"Friends Hotel was a fantastic place to stay in Quito. The standout was the delicious breakfast, with plenty of fresh, tasty options to start the day. Even more impressive was the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff members, from Yale/ Javier/ Joell at front desk to Mariano (staple chef at breakfast time) who were always happy to help with a smile and made us feel right at home. Their hospitality truly enhanced the experience. Comfortable rooms, a great atmosphere, and excellent service make this hotel an easy recommendation for anyone visiting Quito. A couple of things to note are that the hotel does not have elevators so if you are mobility restricted maybe avoid. The shampoo was not refilled when I began my stay but easily fixed by informing them. The hotel walls are quite thin too so be careful of any private conversations!"
