Our stay at Bamboo Cottages was nothing short of magical. It is a peaceful, secluded haven run by a warm and welcoming family offering an authentic and laid-back experience. A big contrast with the mass-tourism resorts on other parts of the island. Our room was right on the beach, facing the ocean, with stunning views and the soothing sound of waves as our personal soundtrack. The garden is beautifully maintained, with lush greenery and vibrant bougainvillea flowers everywhere, adding to the charm of the place. The food was fresh, flavorful, and diverse, with an excellent selection of Vietnamese dishes. Dining right on the beach made every meal even more special. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect, always attentive and ready to help with anything we need. Before coming, we checked the reviews, and here’s our take on some of the negative points mentioned by other guests: • Dirt Road & Accessibility – Yes, there’s about 1km of dirt road leading to the property, but it’s really not a big deal. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat off the beaten path, this is part of the charm. We had no issues getting taxis to pick us up or drop us off. • Insects – As expected in a beachfront location, there are some mosquitoes and insects. But our room had a mosquito net, and using repellent spray was enough to keep them away. The staff also burns repellent in the restaurant area to minimize them. • Hot Water – We had plenty of hot water, but honestly, most of the time, we didn’t even use it because the weather was so warm. A refreshing cool shower after a beach day was perfect! • Facilities – Some of the equipment, like bathtubs, is a bit older, but it’s understandable since Bamboo Cottages was closed for three years due to COVID. They are gradually updating things, and despite this, the rooms are clean, well-maintained, and full of charm. • Boat Activity in the Bay – We noticed some boats dragging sand a couple of mornings during our stay. It made a bit of noise but wasn’t a major disturbance. This is beyond Bamboo Cottages’ control, and it shouldn’t be a reason to take points away from them. We originally planned to stay just a few days, but we ended up extending our stay—because leaving this little paradise was simply too hard. If you’re looking for a relaxing, off-the-beaten-path experience in Phu Quoc, this is the perfect place.

We did not stay at this resort but down the road. The food here was definitely the best of the few restaurants offered on this road. True there is only one lady working the whole restaurant and she is exhausted. Too tired to even smile. And if you are not staying at the resort they will handle all their guests first even if you arrived before everyone. She told us we would need to wait but never thought it was to actually serve us last of all the people. But, food is really good. Fresh ingredients. The beach is the nicest beach on the island. We drove all around to explore and it is the cleanest water and beach. The overall feel of this island is rustic so be prepared if you come here.

This is a place with character and soul, where you can tell it’s managed with care and attention to detail. And the location is beautiful. The beachfront is about 200 meters long I estimate, with around three-quarters being real beach, although not very deep. It has a relaxed, inviting atmosphere with trees, hammocks, and swings, and it’s clean and well-maintained. The cottages themselves are thoughtfully designed and have more personality than those at some neighboring resorts. Our room was comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The restaurant was very good. The menu offered a wide variety of options for a resort of this size, and while a few items were occasionally unavailable, it didn’t bother us because the food was fresh and delicious. It was easy to stay for several days and enjoy different meals without feeling the need to look elsewhere. Staff was friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for a peaceful, laid-back stay, this place is a good choice. It’s great value for the price and perfect for those who appreciate a place with character.

We stayed several Nights as a Family of five (3 Kids younger than 7). We booked a cottage with Garden view, which has nothing to do with „a view“ at all, you simply Stare on the backside of the beachfront bungalows. Luckily, we We’re able to move into a beachfront hut, they Managed to fit us all in, which was very nice for a Minor surcharge. The rooms aren‘t huge, but you‘re Not here to stay inside anyways. Hotel PROs -the Hotel: -you are off the beaten Track! No crowds, Only small Resort on an almost empty Part of this overcrowded Island -very close to vinworld (you should NOT spend any Money on this scam!) -they organise Shuttles and Taxi rides for you (Waaaaay too expensive, get yourself grab Drivers WhatsApp contact on your First day!) -they try to keep the „Beach“ clean -breakfast is ok (Choose from Pho (Only vegan Option or dry chicken), Cornflakes, Pancakes or eggs) -billiard table and very nicely made reception hall. -there is a Restaurant on the Right side of the Beach, which is Pretty decent foodwise. That restaurant belongs to another resort !!! Go there for good food ! -we did have warm water for taking a shower -the last 200m of the road is a dirt track, but hey, it’s not our car. Location CONs: -the food. Since you almost have no Choice but eating in, you might be frustrated with the small Menu. You will experience up and downs qualitywise. The chicken is of tough consistency, Only two Meat options anyway (banh mi and pho). We didn‘t try the seafood, Summer rolls and french Fries (Only Option for Western kids in their „everything we don’t know is disgusting“-period) were Great! -Only one waitress from Morning Till Dawn (Poor Girl, Must be exhausted!), she made a mistake the First night taking our order, well the kids just don‘t eat tentacles. After that, she treated us not welcoming and not nicely anymore. Not one Single smile and an unfriendly athmosphere for days left us no Choice but eating out. -there is NO actual Beach! Everything erroded away years ago, that‘s why they Build this huge concrete manifest in Front of the Beach Bungalows. If you‘re into concrete, it might be cool ;) -6 sunbeds for the whole resort, but nevermind, you won‘t use them anyways, Since the covers are hard as the concrete itself. -and swimming in this Bay isn‘t possible either. The Beach is covered in trash and dead Fish. They try to keep it clean several times a day, but stop Directly on the Edge of the property (50 m), on the left and the right everything is covered in litter again. You won‘t swim in this broth anyways, Trust me. -the fishing men neighbors burn trash everyday, smell is horrible. -Daily in the Nighttime we had refreshing rain - also in our room! It was Dripping from the ceiling every Night onto our stuff (no closet!) AND our beds. Great nightsleep guaranteed! The management didn‘t offer any kind of restitution moneywise or Even beerwise. -no fridge in the room, since you‘re far off, you might bring something from the supermarket

We came with a large group of friends. We all loved it so much. Beautiful cottages bring us closer to the nature, especially the bathroom. Excellent home cook food. Friendly and professional staff. Tuyen is my favorite. She helped us with everything we need from booking cars to ordering food and etc. The beach right in front of the rooms is amazing with clear water and low tide. We had the best and wonderful view of the water, the sun and moon every day and night compare with all the hotels I'd ever stayed before. The place is very peaceful and cute. It's great for everyone. The city is close by so you can come out to the attractions during the day time and come back to the serenity at night. Or if you'd like to have a retreat, this is the perfect place for you. We'll definitely come back here every time we come to Phu Quoc. Fell in love with the place. Highly recommended to everyone!

This place is absolutely lovely! Neat and well kept with nice cottages set directly on the nice and tidy little beach. Ours was just a few footsteps from dipping in to the sea. On our stay the water was calm and fairly clear. The location is on its own, so we stayed put for two days, having all our meals there, just relaxing in the calm and quiet environment, no mega-resort in sight. Staff was nice and attentive. Kayaks are for borrowing and motorbikes for rent, if you feel like looking around.

Wow. Although this place has good reviews I want to take the time to provide an OUTSTANDING review because we can’t believe how lucky we are to stay here. Our place is right on the beach and we can hear the (small) waves lapping on the shore. Nice bed, well appointed with an unusual bathroom (semi-outside). Pretty cool. As vegetarians we’ve struggled in Vietnam but this place had awesome food. Lots of choices for Veg and Non-Veg alike and everything we tried was outstanding. Right on a very quiet beach - feels private. Staff is attentive and professional Honestly it does not get any better than this even if we paid 5x more

The staff is very friendly and extremely supportive: I had issues with my phone and everyone helped me beyond expectations to finally solve it. Bamboo cottages is located a bit far away from the city which is good because you can enjoy the wonderful beach all by yourself. The beach is sandy, the water warm, calm and crystal clear. The restaurant provides an excellent selection of local food, all arranged and prepared very carefully. The tables are both inside and outside, right in front of the sea. The room is big, comfortable and has all you need to enjoy your stay, mine was facing the sea directly which is magnificent. Thank you all the staff of Bamboo Cottages, a true gem in Phu Quoc!

Absolute dream of a little place. We have spent a few nights here after several weeks of quite full on travelling through Vietnam and have truly relaxed into the sounds of the lapping shore, swimming from the private beach and watching the fisherman’s boats trundle by. A lovely team at Bamboo Cottages, helpful and with genuine smiles. The food has been excellent and a good variety to choose from. Rooms are comfortable and clean. We especially loved coming back to cleaned rooms each morning after a delicious breakfast and also the refilled glass water bottles. It’s the small touches that make it a special place.

We thought it was wonderful, so for me, five days turned into three weeks, during which I simply enjoyed the peace and quiet of this beautiful place. The room was superb, clean, and the proximity to the sea was simply fantastic. The food was fantastic and the staff incredibly friendly. I felt incredibly comfortable.

We spent 3 nights at the Bamboo Cottages. Everything is serene and calm. The staff is very attentive. Anne, the owner, speaks a little French. The beachfront cottages are just incredible. Very tastefully decorated. It's the perfect place to recharge your batteries. Yoga mats and kayaks are available. The food is also very good.

It is a unique location. In the middle of nowhere. And nothing else in the area. The grab does not come. This hotel does not serve meat and alcohol (only local beer) if you take the room on the beach it is unprecedented luxury. Breakfast is fine. We did not find the restaurant very special. We found the staff very stiff and certainly not the Vietnamese smile that we are used to.
