Anoulackkhenlao Hotel

Anoulackkhenlao Hotel

📍 059, 4 Ban Phonsavanxay, Phonsavan
★★★ 8.1 (31 reviews)

"Satisfactory sleeping conditions at Anoulack khen Lao Hotel. 2 separate blocks with reception and breakfast at the main block. Because it was Pi Mai, the Lao New Year, service was minimal. I suggest avoid the Lao New year period as several eating places are closed for 3 to 5 days. We had our own transport and travel around the town was easy."

Vansana Plain of Jars Hotel

Vansana Plain of Jars Hotel

📍 F646+XC2, Phonsavan
★★★ 7.2 (30 reviews)

"Reading other reviews I am not sure what people expect sometimes . This is an old, dated 2 star hotel . It doesn’t claim to be anything other than that . The rooms were basic but comfortable. The bathrooms were dated but clean and functional. Breakfast was simple but plentiful . Dinner was the same . If you are going to the Plain of Jars then stay here"

Sipanya Guesthouse

"Nice spot, but for the price I would have wished they had a mini fridge. about a 5-minute walk from the main road."

Pukyo Bed and Breakfast Belgian Lao

Pukyo Bed and Breakfast Belgian Lao

📍 Unnamed Road, Phonsavan
★★★ 9.6 (17 reviews)

"I came to Phonsavan to see the Plain of Jars but the other highlight turned out to be staying two nights at the Pukyo B&B with David. I had had some dialogue with David via email about availability as the various booking sites weren't clear on the situation and David suggested that while he was fully booked for the nights I wanted he could offer a room next door (owned by his wife and aunt). When I arrived it turned out he had had a cancellation so I got offered a room in the main house instead. As I had hired a van and driver to bring me from Luang Prabang and take me back there I had transport to get around the Plain of Jars but David took me out to find an excellent dinner on both nights. It's unlikely that I would have found either place on my own even if I was staying in the centre of town. The B&B itself is fairly basic but comfortable. David said he was considering adding airconditioning if it continues to get hotter in Phonsavan but it seemed fine at night. I was exhausted both by the trip there and a day touring the plains so after dinner I pretty much collapsed anyway."

Coecco Xieng Khouang Hotel

Coecco Xieng Khouang Hotel

📍 Phonxavan, Xiengkhouang, Phonsavan
★★★ 6.2 (16 reviews)

"Hotel in its original state, very old equipment, breakfast either soup or eggs, and they don't understand English, but the bedding was good. Be careful, to get to the Valley of Jars you have to be brave for 300 km, 10 hours of bumpy road, and the word is not strong enough. But beautiful to see, complete immersion"

Pukyo Bed and Breakfast Belgian Lao ★★★
"We are a widely travelled couple in our 50's and recommend Pukyo for travelers of all ages. The owners are a Belgian and Lao couple who live next door and their help, service and hospitality is unbelievable. David drove us to and from the airport as well as to an interesting silk farm. We got to know his daughters and he cooked breakfast for us and a delicious curry for dinner. Sakhone took us on an all day tour of the highlights of the areas including three Plain of Jars sites. She is so knowledgable, a good driver and is fun to hang out with. The rooms are clean and basic with some homey touches. The bed was comfortable and it was pretty quiet. Phonsavanh is not an easy place to get to (a short flight is best) but it is worth it as this is an interesting area of Laos to go to after you have visited Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng and Vientiane - it has a lot of important history. Coecco Xieng Khouang Hotel ★★★
"It was in a good location, almost in the center of town. The door didn't have a closer, so even when I closed it lightly, it made a loud bang. My friend's hot water heater in his room was broken? Apparently there was no hot water, so he had to wash his body with water..."
