The B&B is in the ancient village of Nuodeng. Most of the houses here are built with rammed earth walls. They are very beautiful and special. We came during the National Day. Parking was difficult and we could only park far outside the village. Our luggage needed to be carried on mules, so we followed. I was panting heavily and sweating all over when I climbed to the B&B. The ancient villages are full of irregular stone steps. I can’t count how many steps I climbed. It was quite tiring. The environment of the B&B is good. You can see the scenery everywhere. You can stay on the terrace for a whole day and it’s not a waste of time. The room is not very clean, but it's okay under the general environment. However, the bathroom door is broken and does not close tightly. The bath water will spill out. The toilet is a bit wobbly. I hope it can be repaired if there is a chance. The food at the B&B was delicious, and the boss also gave us a taste of the home-brew wine, which was delicious. It's pet-friendly here. Several puppies came that day. The B&B has a kitten which is also very cute. There is a charging station not far outside the village, and there are service staff. There is no waiting for a table on holidays, which is great!

When I came to Shaxi, the pace of life slowed down all of a sudden. I stayed at Banxi Mingyue on this trip and it was very comfortable. The location of the B&B is relatively convenient, there are parking spaces, and it is quite close to the core area of ​​the ancient town. As soon as we arrived, the staff warmly greeted us and helped us park and take our luggage. The afternoon tea and breakfast were exquisite and delicious. The small courtyard is very beautiful, and you can see the traces of careful management, which is suitable for taking pictures. The room is spacious and comfortable, with complete supplies, and even a straw hat for taking pictures outside. If I have the opportunity to come again, I will consider staying again and enjoy the leisurely slow life again.

The accommodation is in a great location, just a 5-10 mins walk to the ancient town and bridge, and it’s accessible by car. Besides the great location, it has a fantastic countryside view - a view that one can stare at all day. The host is very welcoming and warm. They kindly heated the room before I arrived, and gave me warm water when they saw I was sniffing away due to the cold winds. Overall it was a pleasant stay. What would make it better is to provide a fluffy towel to use after showering, the current one is a bit thin.

This is a lovely little guesthouse well located between the old town centre and the river. The location is perfect for seeing the best of Shaxi and the guesthouse itself is spotlessly clean and well-renovated. The hosts went out of their way to help us out while we were there, arranging cars and transport and even shipping some clothes we left behind back to our house in Beijing. They had good recommendations and were generally welcoming and friendly. The room is spacious, clean and well-appointed. The lack of a door on the bathroom was a little odd but not a big problem. In general, a great place at which we would gladly stay again.

This hotel is very new. Three story building with lift. The building interior decoration is very beautiful. The room sound proof is very good. But there are too many lights in the room. There are about 10 to 15 spotlight and 10 to 15 lantern. The water pressure and temperature is very good. There are some small improvement need to be done. The shower area has no shelf to put shampoo or bath foam bottle. Have to put on the floor. The location is very hidden inside an alley, surrounded by other buildings. It is quite a distance to the ancient city south gate. About 10-15 mins. Have to walk an uphill slope when walking back to the hotel from the ancient city. Breakfast is very plain. Bread, Chinese bun, boiled egg, stir fry vege, plain porridge with preserve vege, noodle, black coffee, Breakfast is served in front of the lobby and next to the pond. There is two washing machine with dryer at the basement next to the carpark. Overall this is a very good hotel.

The home stay location is quite centre. Cars are not allowed to enter into ancient town. They will provide a trolley to send your luggage to their home stay. Beforehand you need to let them know your arrival time. Room is clean, staff are friendly and helpful. Two choices of breakfast are available, local rice noodles or sandwiches. Disadvantage is sound proofing is really bad. We can hear clearly people talking at the garden or next room.

We recently stayed at this homestay and had a pleasant overall experience. The location might be a challenge for some, as it sits atop a long hill. Combined with Dali's high altitude, walking up frequently can be quite tiring—and may even cause mild altitude sickness for those not used to it. That said, the homestay itself is clean, cozy, and well-kept. The owner was friendly and accommodating and made very delicious breakfast, even better than those sold at the restaurants. If you're comfortable with the climb (or plan to limit trips out), this place offers great hospitality and value.

I accidentally stayed in the same room as Xu Hongdou B&B. After the girl at the front desk told me about it, I found the clip and watched it again. There are many activities, and everyone can choose. The activities of pine needle dragon and armored horse are very good, especially the armored horse, which is completely different from the ones seen in the ancient town. Although I don’t understand it very well, I feel that this is the real thing. I printed two satisfied pictures and took them home. The girl at the front desk said that the hotel is a rural revitalization project. The next day, I went to the nearby Shilong Village to take a look. It is a large village with more than 200 households. I feel like I should be the one to be revitalized, haha.
