Carpet a bit manky - needs a deep hoover and possibly a clean Comfy mattress but very hard pillows The hotel itself looks very nice as you approach it, nice outside seating for drinks and meals Safe grassy area with trees for children to play on"

"I really like this hotel; it's very unique. Breakfast in the restaurant is à la carte, but the bread and blueberry yogurt are free. The room also provides two complimentary glass bottles of water each day. It's not mineral water, but the local drinking water. ☺️ The hotel is located in the small town of Newbury, surrounded by beautiful scenery and many English-style country cottages. 🏡 I was so moved. 💗 I just wanted to enjoy a different kind of rural scenery from the city. 😄"

The upholstery was pretty grim in both rooms, large cofee/wind stain on the curtains. The sofa looked like something from a student house and the desk chair pretty much the same - not reflective of room price"

"We stumbled across Ye Olde Red Lion, on our trip home and stopped in for lunch. It was a Monday and it was really busy, but the landlady found us a table. We had the pie of the day, beef and onion in red wine gravy. Absolutely delicious. The Landlord, landlady and staff were so friendly and welcoming. Even though they were really busy they still had time to greet and talk to each customer. Wonderful place, will definitely visit again. Tip- try the pork scratchings xx"

"Was traveling down from Scotland to Southampton, and needed somewhere to spend the night. In the past I have usually spent the night in the Warwick/Oxford area, but on this occasion I wanted to be a bit further south. Most places were coming back at £100 a night for a single hotel room, but was able to find the Crown & Horns at a not to bad rate. Conveniently located off the road to Southampton, I had no problem finding it. Lovely rustic country pub, staff were really friendly. Staff are really friendly, and was able to get a pint in the bar before retiring to bed. Room was nice and basic, but met all my needs. All in all met my needs for my trip. "

"We had a fantastic stay at Central Gate. The apartment was spotless and clearly well looked after, and the whole building felt clean and well maintained. The self check-in process was simple and hassle-free, which made arriving really easy. We also really appreciated the welcome pack – the biscuits, tea, and coffee were a lovely touch and made us feel instantly at home. Overall, a great experience and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended!"
