Great location in the middle of town. Faculties are quite old though. Our area of the hotel had an issue with the boiler so not hot water in our room. Does have a very cool onsen that’s outdoors.

The hotel has such good history, the breakfast is good and the staff were accommodating. There is also a free shuttle service from Myoko-kogen station to the hotel and back. The place is accessible to the ski ground.

The hotel my friend booked is very small and old. It's not clean, the room and toilet are very small, but the lobby service is very good. They are warm and polite, and they also provide pick-up and drop-off services. The hotel has several hot springs and open-air hot springs, which are very good. The breakfast is a bit simple, and the restaurant tastes average. Overall, you get what you pay for, and it's a good choice if you want to save money.

Lovely hotel next to the ski lift.
Clean and large onsen with everything you need.
Breakfast is normal.
The rooms are a little tired and dusty, but not critical.

A great travel experience!
It is recommended to reserve the shuttle service with the hotel in advance.
Has the best hot springs, very comfortable and relaxing for sore muscles after a long day of skiing, and is a convenient location for skiing
The travel reservation service staff are very friendly and actively assist travelers with various inquiries.
If I have the chance to go to Akakura Hot Spring again, I will stay there again!
Thank you very much to the hotel staff for taking care of me!

Stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. There are three baths, all of which have a nice atmosphere, but the equipment is old in some places.
The food was also delicious. Breakfast was a buffet, and the menu was the same both days.
The exterior looks old-fashioned, but the rooms are very clean.

Service attitude is very good
But it was too old and noisy. The ventilation system kept making noises of parts falling off for more than 10 hours. So I chose a room with a bathroom and toilet. I wanted convenience, but I didn't expect that it would be inconvenient to take a bath. The bathtub was too small and there was bleach in the water. The smell, and the water in the bathtub is still completely wet even if there is a shower curtain blocking the floor. It is very uncomfortable. The wind power of the hair dryer is close to zero. It is recommended to bring your own hair dryer, otherwise it will really collapse. The hotel may be too old. I really don’t recommend it if you want to enjoy skiing. This hotel has been in a state of collapse. I stayed there for four nights and it was really uncomfortable. Then when the room was cleaned, the floor was not vacuumed. The room was really dirty and the slippers were rusty in it... In short, I will not come again! ! !
Really ruined a good ski trip

The facilities and wifi in the hotel are very good. The room is big and beautiful.
The front desk service is very attentive. Since the local ski resort is not open, the front desk helps to find out which ski resorts are open nearby. Zhongjiao goes back and forth.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed. Mould, broken everything. Austerity measures, they turn off heating. Dinner is a farse. Was supposed to be fresh cooked meals, a la carte dinner, but instead we get these set meals everyday and the kids meals are chicken nuggets that were cooked an hour ago. Water is un-drink-able; Its listed 'do not drink' but they give you 8 bottles for your fill visit. Rooms are cold. Frozen, they constantly turn off the heat. Drying rooms for ski gear are cold and damp (again heaters are off) Its like 1920's decor, which you will often find in Japan. But this is cracks in the walls, leaking pipes, nothing works and doilies on chairs. They advertise a fireplace. But won't ever light it. They advertise Karaoke and a Bar. But that's dishonest. As someone who has travelled for many days each year, this is the worst hotel I have stayed. Worse than when I got fleas in Paris. PS: Did I mention the water from the tap is brown/red? Its minus 2 degrees in the corridors... Not updated anything since Covid. Expensive and it's worse than any school camp I can hope to forget.

We were there for a week in ski season and we were super impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I sustained a significant injury caused by a snowboarder colliding with me and was laid up with a leg broken in 2 places and several fractured ribs. The staff at the concierge desk went way above and beyond their duties. One drove my wife in his own car to the local hospital and back to get some crutches and they organised a taxi for us to the orthapaedic hospital some 45 mins each way, so we could get xrays and scans in preparation for our flight home. They also got their shuttle bus to take us to the railway station to get back to Tokyo as the roads were shut and buses booked out for days. The driver didn't just do a dump and run with us, leaving our bags on the footpath. No, he helped us get tickets and then helped carry our bags up the stairs and over to the other platform, then onto the train and made sure we were settled in. We felt so blessed by their willingness to help which made a very difficult situation much easier. The hotel, whilst clean and tidy, is quite dated. During our stay we had no hot water in our room due to the boiler breaking down and the inability to access it due to the amount of snow that they have had made it impossible to access. This also impacted the heating in the Annex part of the hotel They allowed us to book and use the family onsen for free and were so apologetic about the situation. There was nothing they could do to repair it until the snow melted. The pillows used in all the hotels we stayed in in Japan were horrible. They were very flat, had no foam, and were referred to by some as rice pillows because of the filling on one side. Two were too high, and one was not high enough. On our next trip, I will buy a self-inflating camping pillow, which will sort out that problem. Beds are quite firm, but again, this appears to be cultural thing. We had breakfast included with our package and found the selection to be quite diverse with both Japanese and European palates catered for. lts the first time I have had crickets for breakfast. Proximity to the lifts of Akakura Onsen was excellent.

I stayed here for one night for snowboarding. The hotel is conveniently located, just a few minutes from the slopes. As expected, the quality of the snow around here is amazing. And above all, the quality of the hotel's hot springs was also amazing. I was stunned when my car was covered in a huge amount of snow from a nighttime snowfall, but the staff worked hard to clear it away, which was an amazing response. Some hotels don't do this kind of service, and some are cold, so I'm very grateful to Akakura Hotel. However, the parking lot is far away, so it may be difficult to get around on rainy days. I would like to stay here again outside of the winter season.

It seems to be a long-established establishment since the opening of Akakura Onsen. It is an old building, but the elevator has been inspected by the manufacturer, so you can use it with confidence. There are two large public baths, and the open-air bath is recommended. It is semi-open-air, so it has an open feeling and is a great place to soak. There was snow on my head when I was there. The downside was that there were a few stairs up and down from the room and the hallway was cold. However, the room had double sash windows and was comfortable with air conditioning and a fan heater.I could see the lights of Joetsu's city from the window. You can eat the head of the salt-grilled sweetfish for dinner. The curry for breakfast is also delicious.

The spring quality is a "calcium, magnesium, sodium, nitrate, and hydrogen carbonate hot spring" with a neutral pH of 6.6 and a source temperature of 50.2℃. It is a hot spring that contains a lot of metasilicic acid, is rich in ingredients, feels good on the skin, and seems to be very effective. The water is drawn from the source over several kilometers from the North Jigokudani Valley of Mt. Myoko and is naturally cooled to around 42 degrees Celsius, with an abundant amount of hot water flowing directly from the source without any heating or addition of water. The indoor bath is quite large, and the open-air bath is small and lacks a view, but it is hotter and has more flowers, giving you a sense of the quality of the spring water. It is only used for day trip bathing. Since the hot springs are not self-spouting, the hot springs cannot be said to be fresh, but the quality of the hot springs more than makes up for this, making me realize that Akakura Onsen is one of the best hot springs in Japan. This Akakura hotel has a spacious bathroom and is fully equipped. The inside of the hotel has a sense of history, and the front desk staff was very helpful. If I had a chance to come next time, I would like to stay there.
