Mount Lavinia Hotel
"I had high expectations so many people told be what a fabulous hotel it is and probably what they meant was what it WAS. So much history but clearly it needs so much TLC and investment. No hot water most of the time and couldn't shower when I wanted to over the 3 days. When I first arrived I actually thought it looked closed down. A lobby empty no atmosphere no furniture and a dull desk. Poor staff what they have to work with. I actually hate to think what the back of house areas look like. Cold buffet for bfast as no burners on so opted for eggs made to order. I feel just so sorry for them but this poor hotel with so much history is sliding down the gutter unless someone takes it on. Rooms so tired and absolutely old minimal amenities in room. No bath mat, rusty bin just so sad. My rate not high so not worth complaining. One of the nights I booked late so was double but they clearly need the money. I gave feedback to staff but clearly he's used to it as he said nothing, don't even remember an apology just a glare of embarrassment. I wish I could recommend this hotel but I can't. Feel so bad because it has so much history. So hope an investor comes along because it could be amazing or more like the Galle Fort Hotel that has been well maintained."
The Lion Pub & Hotel
"Location is the best of all. Service must be improved as we had to depend on one staff member for services. He did a tremendous job. overall 4.5 out of 5 stars can be given."
Berjaya Hotel Colombo
"Berjaya Hotel is a grand entrance. Feels like premium hotel and is best for the people who want to explore the beach. The view from the hotel was very serene, waking up to the sight of beach is amazing. The train passes by every few minutes which might be a nuance if you like absolute quiet environments. There are restraunts and bars nearby on the beach which is a 2 minutes walk from the hotel. It was strange to find a lack of amenities in the room like toothbrush, toothpaste and slippers. I had a walk a couple of kilometres to find a shop to buy slippers before I could take a shower and relax after a long flight. The staff was very helpful during the checkin and checkout process helping me carry my luggage even at 4am in the morning. The complimentary breakfast was also delightfully diverse with a mix of Desi, Continental and Srilankan dishes. Overall I enjoyed my stay. I hope the hotel management can add to the amenities so the international travellers can have a more comfortable stay."
Anarva Hotel & Spa
"During my visit to Sri Lanka I went to Anarava hotel to have Ayurvedic massage and it was really good. Highly recommended. Also at that time I got a chance to have free hotel tour and loved the hotel and facilities. Thanks to front office team and manager."
The Villa in Lavinia
"Loved the place . Place has good ambience and you can spend time in the property. You can read books , play indoor games and a 24x7 swimming pool for access. Staff were also nice.. will definitely recommend this place! Also beach is nearby to the hotel so it's very convenient to explore nearby areas by walking."
Colombo Beach Hostel
"It was a great experience. The food is amazing and eating with the other travelers perfect. Great place to chill out and for swimming you can also reach to city center by public buses. It’s worth to see here and to stay here. Hi the recommended. If you will stay in a close distance to Colombo, that’s your place and if you’d like to meet with the others again this is your place."
Tropic Inn
"We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Tropic Inn. This was mainly due to the friendly staff. In particular, Ravin, who walks around the hotel like a cheerful ray of sunshine, joyfully ensures that the hotel looks beautifully decorated. The young men at reception are also very friendly and helpful. And the chef provided a delicious breakfast every morning. All in all, we had a great time. Thank you for that!"
Lavinia Bay Beach Hotel
"The location of the hotel is terrible, it is very dirty around, abandoned houses, on the territory of the hotel from the window there is a view of a sea of dirt and a dump, on the site there is a well dug in which the water is dirty and smells terrible. The pool on the roof does not inspire confidence to swim there, the beach near the hotel is very dirty, there is garbage everywhere!"
