"This is the second stay at this hotel, where the room is just the right size for two people, clean, fully equipped with electrical appliances, including a portable heating system. The room I got this time had a city view, quiet, no noise disturbance. I was impressed with the service from the staff and the luggage storage service both before and after check-in."

"We stayed for 3 nights! The location is great! Super close to the Queen market and stations. We enjoy the SPA and swimming pool, the room is nice and clean. The kitchen facilities was not very enough! The cooking stuffs was very small. It was not enough to cook food for 4 ppl, and no oven equipped. One point made me very disappointed to the hotel. We left the room at 10:40am, and expected a cleaning service after we left. When we return after 3pm. The room was not cleaned, no bath towel, no replace of shampoo and shower gel, and the rubbish bin was totally full after 2 nights stay. I got a card at the door said we put a ”Do not disturb” sign (we didnt put) , and the staff wrote at 1:40pm. I went to the reception and bring the supplements myself. The receptionist said will investigate the situation, and it was no any follow-up and reply to me. This was the 1st time I have ever met, and it was a very bad ending in the au journey."

"The hotel's hygiene is excellent, and the lobby is spacious and bright. There are plenty of elevators, so even during peak hours, you don't wait long. The rooms are also spacious with beautiful window views; one side should offer a clear view of the river connecting the North and South banks, perfect for watching New Year's fireworks. Housekeeping is arranged from the third day of your stay, and they do a thorough and clean job. Overall, I'm very satisfied, although the location is a bit far from the CBD and Melbourne's main attractions. However, once you cross to the North Bank, you're not far from the tram free zone, which makes up for it. 👍👍👍"

"Great Southern Hotel Melbourne provided solid value for my short solo stay in the city during a busy trip. Right opposite Southern Cross Station, it's incredibly convenient for SkyBus from the airport, trams to Phillip Island penguins, and exploring Crown Casino or the CBD—perfect for backpackers on a student budget. Rooms were clean and comfortable with comfy beds, good bathrooms, and free WiFi; staff were super friendly, offering quick check-in and local tips. Breakfast (extra charge) was decent and reasonably priced. Minor issues like occasional AC glitches or no elevator in some areas, but overall great location and service outweigh them. Would stay again—8.5/10!"

"Definitely not the best hostel I've been too but not the worst either. However I wouldn't recommend as a female guest. First, they take a photo of you upon check in. I don't know if this is customary in Australia but if it was up to me I wouldnt be willing to provide it (it is stated on trip.com upon booking though, I guess I just missed it). Second... I'm not making any claims here but inside the female bathrooms, there are tiny holes on the walls and doors. They could totally be harmless, but as someone living in Korea where those holes in public bathrooms mean something harmful to women... I wouldn't risk staying at such a place ever again now that I know. Now for the facility review... There was 1 working bathroom with 2 toilets & 2 shower booths on my floor, but it probably wasnt too crowded, I never had to wait to shower. Hot water came out just fine. Would give a 7/10 for cleanliness... There were 2 hair dryers only 1 of which was working. The location is very good, walking distance to all CBD landmarks (very near South Cross Station & tram station right outside the door). Which also means that it gets noisy at night with the noise from the train running. You can either close the window (which I heard is very heavy) and live with the stuffy smell, or leave the window open and live with the noise. Cant do both. Amenities... what do I say? I got a key to enter the room & the bathroom. The beds werent numbered so you just get your room number and hop on whichever bed that seemed... fresh. A bed with a blanket, pillow, and curtain for privacy. That was all. They did provide free towels when I asked later. Inside the shared bathroom, there was 1 gel provided inside the shower booth, not sure if it was shower gel or shampoo... I do believe there is plenty room for improvement. Starting from the holes in the shower booths.."

"The Mercure Welcome is a legacy asset in a prime location that is currently being outclassed by newer CBD developments. While its position on Little Bourke Street offers unrivaled proximity to the Emporium and Bourke Street Mall, the property operates as a ”location-only” play. For the business traveler, the logistics of this hotel are a significant friction point. The absence of on-site parking at an accessible price—and the subsequent five-minute trek to a third-party car park—nullifies the ”convenience” of the central location. If you are handling luggage or working on a tight schedule, this five-minute gap is a structural inefficiency. The 2022 renovation has kept the rooms functional, but the basic amenities and soundproofing issues reinforce its status as a mid-tier utility rather than a premium experience. Stay here only if you are on foot and require immediate access to the retail core; otherwise, the trade-off isn't worth the operational hassle."

"We had a fantastic stay at the Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands. Everything about our experience was wonderful. The highlight for us was definitely the pool. The water temperature was perfect—not too hot and not too cold—and our kids absolutely loved it. In fact, they didn’t want to get out! The view from the pool area was also amazing and made the experience even more special. Breakfast was great with plenty of options, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. They made us feel very welcome and well looked after. We will definitely stay here again in the future and have already recommended the hotel to our family and friends. A truly enjoyable stay!"

"It’s a nice little place that did what it needed to do to keep a roof over my head. Slightly annoying that you have to use the bathroom/shower in seperate areas within the hotel but that was already known once paying for a room in advance."

"The room was great, with a microwave and three sets of cutlery. It was clean and hygienic. The location is excellent, right within the free tram zone, only a ten-minute walk from the central station, and a three-minute walk to Queen Victoria Market. Super convenient!"

"Perfect stay for a simple trip. Stayed at the single bed room. The room is small but just enough for my short stay. Room was clean & it has everything you expected for a budget hotel: Tea/coffee, milk on the fridge and toileteries. Wifi speed is good for browsing (Approx 40-50Mbps) The only downside is: Their hotel key is using old technology and easily demagnetised. I happen to put it next to my Airpods and it loses the magnetism."
