Old Bell Hotel
9.1 (79 reviews)

Old Bell Hotel ★★★★

📍 Abbey Row, Malmesbury

"I discovered a hidden gem of a hotel during my trip, and I highly recommend it. The rooms are even more beautiful than the photos on the official website. The food in the hotel restaurant is absolutely delicious. The environment is clean, tidy, and well-equipped. It's about an hour's drive from Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury. Stepping into the town feels like entering a medieval paradise. It's a pity my itinerary was too tight, otherwise I would have considered staying a few more nights to explore the surrounding area's beautiful scenery and delicious food."

"Nice venue but sadly lacking menu, the food was very dry and some dishes were overly spiced, the ribs were badly butchered and full of splinter bones Would not return"

"The overall experience of this hotel is very good. The process from check-in to check-out is very smooth. The service staff is friendly and polite, the room is clean and tidy, and the facilities are complete and well-maintained. The location is convenient and the surrounding living functions are also convenient. The overall accommodation environment is comfortable and relaxing. It is a pleasant accommodation experience and I will visit again if I have the opportunity in the future."

Whatley Manor ★★★★★
"We drove all the way from London to WHATLEY MANOR, the location is really rural bit quiet. IT IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL MANOR SINCE 1929. We booked a suite room and upgraded to extra single bed for my son and cost 150£, which is considered very expensive. We booked for 2 nights and it cost us 1500£, [ breakfast included ] in my opinion is very pricey for this location. I think their selling points are spa, sauna, thermal room , hydro pool but for Asian , it is too common for us.The beds are very comfortable, room is very spacious and cozy, provide good quality amenities. They have really beautiful garden good for walking and reading books. Beside price, everything is good."

The Kings Arms Hotel ★★★
"Getting into the rear car park through the narrow driveway which is obviously a relic from the coach and horses days was quite an experience but no real problem, it's just that I'm used to wide Australian driveways. The rooms are converted stables but they have been converted with style and considerable cost. My room, facing south so the sunshine warmed the room, was well-appointed and comfortable. The pub itself, just a short walk away so you don't get too wet if it's raining, oozed charm and hospitality. The reception staff were most obliging and courteous. The hotel is centrally located on Malmesbury's High Street so you're close to all the major attractions of the town such as the Abbey, the Athelstan Museum and the Avon River walk. My only regret is that I could only stay for one night. God-willing, I shall return."

"Beautiful pub! Shame about the manager! She’s rude and arrogant. I was having a few drinks with friends when she spoke to us rudely and made us feel uneasy and unwelcome. Calling last orders at 9pm! I don’t drive an hour to be at a pub 2 hours. Shame on how down hill that place really is going!!! I will not be attending again. STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU LIKE RUDE PEOPLE"
