MeKong Theme Hotel, Affiliated by Huaye

I stayed in a mixed dorm. The hotel is amazing, pool area is stunning. But the bed was hard and the bunk bed so noidy with any movement. The bathroom door was also so incrdibly loud even with ear plugs you would be woken up by it. I decided to cancell my second two nights to find somewhere I could get a decent nights sleep. Shame as the plave is amazing, although a bit of a hike from town

I had a pleasant stay at the Mekong Theme Hotel. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made the overall experience feel warm and comfortable. The facilities are quite good, offering everything you’d expect for a relaxing stay. The hotel features a nice pool and a bar located near the river, perfect spots to unwind and enjoy the view. One downside, however, was the bed, which was a bit squeaky and could use some maintenance.

My room (6 female dorm) was large, with pool view, ensuite bathroom, good quality hand washing lotion, toilet paper and hot water shower. The bunk beds are good and solid but the mattresses on the thin side (Chinese style). There are no lockers in the room so it can get crammed Previous reviews mentioned "pool closed and construction side noise" - this was definitely not the case during my stay. The hostel is located some 30 minutes walk from the city centre, thus perfect if you need a place to rest or for longer stays. They offer e-bikes/scooters for rent

So much potential wasted. An absolute dump. The only good thing about this place is the pool and the view that comes with it. The staff don't speak much English (and don't try to understand you) except for one girl that reception that always has an annoyed look on her face. I booked a double room and was given one with 2 twin beds. I didn't complain because the private rooms were full. But the room smelled of smoke, and one of the bed's sheets was clearly not changed because it smelled extremely dirty. The bathroom REAKED of urine smell and the shower clogged, flooding the entire bathroom. The entire hotel is unclean. If this was just a hostel then it's worth the dorm prices. But the private rooms cost just as much as a nice CLEAN boutique hotels in town. Just come here to use the pool for a few hours, as this is not worth the money. They also state they have a spa and gym at the hotel, which is do not. They have no noise control, from 10pm to pass mid night, 2 drunk Chinese men just ran around screaming and slamming doors. It's an old building so the whole thing shook. The poor night staff was not trained to handle the situation. I canceled my second night stay and was given a refund for that one night. The hotel is located in a back alley, with lots of stray dogs barking at you anytime you walk, it's terrifying. ***Not worth it for private rooms***
