I’d never stayed in a holiday inn before and found this hotel on booking.com. I booked to stay here for 2 nights for a weekend in London with my partner. Check in was smooth and quick. The staff were polite, efficient and helpful. Our room was very clean and just what we needed and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was nice and spacious and there was shower and hair gel available to use. There was a notice on the bathroom wall which I thought was a nice touch to say there were disposable razors, toothbrushes and shaving foam etc.. available from reception if you had forgotten any toiletries. There were plenty of clean towels in the room, a hair dryer and an ironing board and iron to use if needed. The only slight issue we had was that the TV remote was missing but I am not going to mark the hotel down for that at all because when I reported it to reception it was dealt with swiftly and the maintenance man was at our room within ten minutes with a spare one. It was nice and quiet where we stay we had no disturbance at all. Breakfast was good there was a hot buffet breakfast, with fruit, cereal, croissants, yoghurts and toast available along with orange juice and apple juice with a good range of hot drinks available. Our room was tidied after our first night which surprised me, but I thought it was nice. The bed was made while were out and the towels, tea and coffee were replenished as well as the bin emptied. Checking out was fast and easy. We had a nice stay and it was a great location for us and I would stay at this hotel again when visiting London again.
Holiday Inn Express London-Hammersmith, an IHG Hotel

Dear customer services representative from IHG rewards club and Owner of HI Hammersmith, My family and I had the misfortune of staying at the Holiday Inn Express Hammersmith in London from 1st September to 2nd September in room number 340. During the checking-in process, I have encountered the most unsatisfactory, rude, and disturbing services in my lifetime that I think you should know of and hopefully do something about. First of all, we arrived at the hotel at 14:50. Upon arrival, the lady who was responsible for checking in, mentioned to me, all guests would have to wait for another 15 minutes before checking in. I was puzzled, and enquired the root cause to the problem, at the same time, trying to come out of an alternative solution (which they should have done this), asking as a diamond member to IHG rewards club, if the hotel can prepare the paperwork, take the credit card information first, and assigning a room can be delayed to a later stage? This is because I had to rush to north London to pick up my son. The reception lady replied very bluntly, without any sympathy, “We cannot do anything and usually your room won’t be ready until 4PM, we already move forward to 3 o’clock.” The room check in time should be 3pm not 4pm, this was stated in the hotel policy and in the booking email. I was not satisfied with her attitude and explanation. I don’t mind she told me the true reason, for example, the hotel is understaffed or they had a group of international tourists a night before who all have late check out. However, covering the true reason, finding an excuse does NOT reflect the expected level of customer services, which damage the integrity of services staffs and brand image. So I began to challenge her explanation, hoping to get a satisfying explanation with controlled and still firm voice. At the point, the duty manager Jas***e came by, instead of trying to calm the customer down, and asking for the reasons to resolve the problem. She behaved very aggressively (holding her head up, with her very arrogant face and body language) and being very judgmental, started to shout to my family (including my 8 year old daughter), in front of many other customers waiting in the lounge, ‘I dislike the way you talked to my colleague’, blaming me to be very arrogant and impolite to her colleague. In a matter of fact, I merely was very firm with my voice and unsatisfied why she said the check in should be 4pm, and refused to do anything to save a few minutes. She said the customer she was dealing with, has a diamond platinum status, if he can wait, why not me. I corrected her, “diamond is the top level of IHG club membership. What I am asking here is if I can check in early, at least fill in the documents and bank details, as I am in a rush.” She pointed out to all customers waiting in the lobby, “You have no privilege than anybody comes earlier than you.” I was not trying to take privilege as I explained before. It seems because she is the duty m

Good location near bus/trains. Smugglers Way is quieter than you might think it would be. I asked for an accessible room and my room was on the ground floor, and it had a shower wet room. The shower was not very powerful but it was adequate. The room was clean and the air con worked well (needed in the heatwave). I would say everything was good except the price (155) and the 'free' breakfast. The breakfast was a complete free-for-all with people all over the place and no signage (would help if people queued in one direction I think). 2 of the 4 hot items were empty (no bacon or scrambled egg); we were told a 20 minute wait for more croissants, there were no pastries left and at one point they even ran out of bread. This was at 9am so not at the end of breakfast service. I wanted porridge and it wasn't clear that this was an item you had to ask for, there was no-one to ask anyway! It would have been good if a member of staff was on hand in the breakfast area to refill and advise customers. There was one member of staff trying to clear all the tables and she was being asked lots of questions and ”clear this table now” by impolite customers. You could not sit at an empty clean table because she was so overstretched. She was clearly doing her best and staying polite and helpful. As I checked out someone was ranting about the breakfast to the staff so they were also unhappy with it. It is the worst breakfast I've ever had in a hotel and I have stayed in a good number of them! I have been bitten by an insect/flea or something on my foot and I was wearing socks at all times except in the hotel room so I can only assume it was something in the room? I understand they do let pets in this hotel so I'm hoping it's not bed bugs!

Have stayed in a HIE before so checked how close this was to the ABBA arena and saw it was only about 15 minutes walk away. Arrived just after 2.00pm and room was ready. Check in efficient and polite - room was clean and had everything needed for a one night stay or even more. Tea and coffee making equipment and supplies provided, iron and ironing board, room safe and sufficient hangers. Had a drink in bar before heading out then another when we returned. Lots of fellow concert attendees to chat to! Breakfast more than adequate. Although we don’t usually have the hot food, the fruit compote and yogurt were delicious and there was plenty of choice of other things. All the staff were extremely pleasant and everywhere we saw was clean. We were very glad we had chosen to stay here. Would definitely recommend. Excellent value for money.

We stayed for one night on Saturday August 30th as part of a theatre break package booked via holidayextras.com RECEPTION Easy to find, easy to sort parking and a smiling receptionist was a great start. However, you're part of theatre break package. I think the reception staff should have better knowledge of how to get to theatres, especially as the hotel information sheet specifically says ”if you require any local information or public transport, please speak to a member of the reception team”. All she could tell us was the nearest underground is Canning Town, she didn't even know what lines go through it. The hotel information sheet is also missing any check out information, it also isn't available in the room or on the key card envelopes. It literally isn't written anywhere for guests to find/check Alex (possibly?) on reception was very helpful and really knows his tea! ROOM (106) Not very ergonomical e.g. hair dryer cord too short- had to sit on floor to get enough cord length to use! Couldn't hang my dress up as only supplied with thin wire hangers with no dress strap hooks/loops so kept slipping off. No spare blankets, pillows etc. Its far too warm now for a quilt and told, at midnight when discovering this, would have to come to reception if we wanted a sheet. So I got redressed and went down. En route I passed a staff member coming out of the lift as I was getting in to come down. Waited at reception only for the same staff member to come out of the same lift a few minutes later and give me a sheet they'd clearly just walked passed my room to fetch. This felt like poor staff initiative leading to a missed opportunity for excellent customer service. No bath mat or face cloths, had to use the hand towels. Shower gel hadn't been restocked. Don't think basic housekeeping checks had been done in this room for a while. BOTH bedside lamps not working, neither was the lamp over the sofa as a result no option for softer lighting. The toilet toll ran out and there was no spare (we used tissues but considering we were only booked for one night this is pretty bad!) On the plus side the room was surprisingly quiet and the bed very comfy. BREAKFAST Food was delicious, especially the sausages although there wasn't much atmosphere, it felt like a staff canteen (maybe a little soft music would help?) It would also be helpful to provide trays- it's not easy to carry cutlery, serve up your breakfast, make and carry a brew so it's either juggling or walking back and forth. Or if possible, set the tables? OVERALL Great value for money, would definitely consider Holiday Inn Express again if just for the breakfast but this particular site is lacking attention to detail. This was amplified by the fact the GM requests feedback via email, which I gave and received no acknowledgement at all- if the GM doesn't care about customer satisfaction why would the staff?
