"I had a great stay at the hotel the stuff was super helpful, amazing breakfast wish they could change it and give variety and special thanks to Ndumiso the Front Office Supervisor who was able to assist us. Definitely coming back in December"
"Good location , next to the see , big room and was cleanThe breakfast was delicious .A good welcome at the reception. They back up generator when there is load shedding. I enjoyed my stay there."
"Very average service received. Room service closes at 11pm!!! Why offer it then? At least 2am gives you a chance should you miss the normal restaurants that close at around 11pm. Sad that a simple request for X2 decent size glasses and some ice can't be followed or done at 11:30pm... Instead I received 1 glass and absolutely no mention of the ice... It's the little things that make the stay enjoyable."
"It’s decent hotel we loved it. The only issue was parking because we wanted a safe parking space as we were looking through different hotels and it was listed. Only to find out when we got there that they were renovating their parking lot. It was not updated online."
"I spent my birthday at the Balmoral hotel 24th April to 28th April 2926. It was absolutely fantastic. I met such helpful staff including thir Managers each one was friendly and kind. The hotel is old fashioned but feels so homely and comfortable. If you need anything to be sorted out just ask and the staff are very efficient. Breakfast was nice they have a range of items you can choose from . Tea cups should be a bit bigger 😋
Thanks once again for a lovely stay"
"The reception was amazing. Stuff was very friendly breakfast was always amazing. They cleaned my room well. Rooms are very big and spacious. Completely worth it"
"Positive: Clean and today appearance. friendly staff. Bottomless soda/ice and regular water. Ice machine on ground floor. Easy access to central town and the highway. Simple book in/check in process. Bar on ground floor.
Negative: No elevator. A little expensive for what it is(an ocean view with breakfast is the same price). No fridge or microwave in the room makes bringing your own food complicated. McDonalds is your immediate neighbor but your only option in safe walking distance. Nearly no soundproofing."
"It is a very beautiful, neat, clean more that what we expected, we enjoyed our stay there and I certainly going to the same place for our next vacation. The service was out of very good, unfortunately we ddnt get the chance to eat there.but next time we make sure we do 😊😊😊"

Amazing
MMegan SinghI recently had the pleasure of having my parents stay at this incredible hotel, and I must say, their experience was absolutely exceptional! From the moment they arrived, they were treated to five-star magic with impeccable service, helpfulness, and reliability. The staff were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make their stay unforgettable.
Their room was absolutely beautiful, clean and what a breathtaking view of the ocean! Truly amazing and relaxing stay - a home away from home in an abundance of excellence! The sound of the ocean and balcony view was one of many highlights that made this stay truly unforgettable!
The food was exquisite, with dinner and breakfast being another highlight of their stay. But what truly made their experience special was the attention to detail and the way the hotel celebrated their anniversary in grandeur. The gifts, chocolates, flowers, and balloons were a lovely touch that made the occasion truly unforgettable.
My parents were blown away by the hotel's excellence and the staff's dedication to providing a memorable experience. They left with lifelong memories and can't wait to return. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and unforgettable stay. Five stars isn't enough – this hotel deserves a glowing review!
RReosha SWe had an amazing stay at this hotel—it was my boyfriend’s first time visiting Durban, and this place completely blew his mind! From the moment we arrived, the incredible staff made us feel welcome, even surprising us with a free room upgrade.
Our room had a breathtaking view of the ocean and the city skyline—perfect for relaxing and taking in the beauty of Durban. The location was unbeatable: just steps away from fantastic restaurants (we were spoiled for choice!), the beach, and even attached to a mall for ultimate convenience.
Whether you’re looking for luxury, convenience, or just a stunning getaway, this hotel delivers on every level. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend.
DDrLinzzI recently stayed at Holiday Inn Express in Umhlanga, Durban and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is perfectly located, close to the beach, restaurants, and shopping spots making it very convenient whether you’re visiting for leisure or business.
The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and well maintained, which made the stay even more relaxing. One of the highlights each morning was the amazing breakfast—fresh, delicious, and with a great variety to choose from.
What truly stood out, though, was the exceptional reception staff. They were incredibly warm, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. As a lovely surprise, they even upgraded me to a sea-view room because it was my birthday, which made my stay feel extra special and memorable.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience with great service, a prime location, and excellent hospitality. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Umhlanga!
TTraveldairies.A good place to be with a beautiful view.... ”The View” as its name . Closer to a shopping complex , gas station, 5min drive to the beach, closer to the beach there also restaurantswhere you can dine whole having the beach view, Toti Beach. its also closer to galleria Mall.
The place is too steep so be ready for that... Their food is delicious, we had dinner there at their restaurant called Giorgios but its expensive I must say. Not sure about their breakfast and lunch though.
Staff and reception is just ok. I had requested them to add a crib bed for a child and upon arrival they told us that the storeroom is closed because we arrived at 6pm so it's too late.
We then asked them to give us atleast a bedsheets or any linen so we can make a plan for our son, they said ok but never pitched , nothin, not even getting back to us to say what could be the matter. We asked again the following day, they took four hours to bring a bedsheets.
Bottom line is if you have a child do not, I repeat DO NOT book that place because they will lie straight to your face saying they could not reach you since you booked via an APP.
I'm not sure whetherI want to talk about their kitchen in the rooms. You will have to call them now and again to bring things and they take 3 to 4hours just for a simple thing like a spoon.
One thing I can say is they don't listen and listening means you respect your business and your clients
I flew from overseas to rest and have a good time and have treat ourselves since they have a spar but I ended up canceling my plans for a spa because I didn't want additional dissapointments.
The rest I don't even want to mention...and that is my experience after paying so much Money and looking forward to a good vacation 😌 BUT...
GGuest UserThis is the one of the best hotel of my trip in SA. The swimming pool is amazing and fantastic. The view is also very well.
I stayed in South Africa for 1 month and stayed in 10 different hotels. This one is really imprrssive. And I have view the best moon in my lives. I think I am even willing to cross half of the earth to stay there again. The room is not bad. But the disadvantage is the attitude of the receptionist and the professionalism of the restaurant staff are not good enough. Delayed the hotel's progress.
MMiss T.I recently stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Umhlanga Arch and had a mostly positive experience. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Umhlanga with easy access to everything. The room was lovely and super comfortable, which made for a relaxing stay.
The breakfast buffet was amazing, delicious and with plenty of options, which was a great way to start the day. However, the restaurant was way too hot. It felt like everyone was trying to grab a fan, and I honestly think they should either switch on the AC or find a better solution for cooling the space.
The pool was nice and well-maintained, and it’s heated, but honestly, it felt a bit strange to swim in a hot pool during summer. I think the heated pool would be much more enjoyable during the cooler months, like in winter. Another downside is that they close the pool way too early….7 pm is pretty unreasonable, especially in a place like Umhlanga where you want to enjoy the evenings.
Overall, it’s a good hotel with great amenities, but the restaurant temperature and early pool closure definitely need some attention.
GGuest UserThe room was very spacious, and the environment was quiet. It had a balcony, a separate living area, and the bathtub and shower were separate. The vanity counter was also large. The front desk service was attentive and even helped carry my luggage to the room.
GGuest UserFirst time in South Africa, first time in Durban on business, the hotel recommended by a South African friend, 30 kilometers from the airport, about 10 minutes drive from Durban Port. The location is quite convenient, there is a supporting entertainment city, dining, movies and casinos next to the hotel, and the internal passage connects to the first floor of the hotel. It takes 3 minutes to walk to the Sunshine Coast Beach. The sea view room I booked is a little compact, enough for one person, but it may be a little small for two people.
Traditional British hotel service, clean and tidy environment, civilized and polite black waiters, especially for Chinese people, the hotel service here is impressive.
PPinkGirlEasy check-in, fabulous view. Peaceful and Quiet. Breakfast was fantastic. Restaurant staff are super helpful and friendly. The pool was stunning and great ambiance.
However;
1. The bathroom was not clean. Please see the attached pictures of the hair left behind.
2. Nobody answered our room calls at 6 am
3. No dental kits are given/available
4. There are 0 lights in the ceiling. The side lamps and lights do not provide sufficient lighting.
5. The room was smaller than expected.
6. 1 small bottle of water is provided. The rooms are not provided with any more water except for this one small bottle. If you require more, you have to buy it.
Nnontando ngemaThe service was great. they must supply guests with enough towels for example if you booked for 2people they must bring two towels not one and also put mat on bathroom.
