The room was too small without even space to open our luggage. The bunk beds were 1.5 meters wide, and while the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, the sink was inside the main room. The shower had high pressure and it actually hurt. The main issue was that the hot water only lasted for a few seconds before turning lukewarm or cold. We had to turn it off and on repeatedly because it was an instant water heater. We endured five days of lukewarm showers; it was torture. The only upside is that downstairs is very lively with plenty of food options and easy access to the subway. It's up to you to decide if it's worth it.

My stay at Galaxy Pods Chinatown was overall quite average and more suitable for a short budget stay rather than comfort, as the location is definitely convenient and close to MRT and food options, but the sleeping experience was not great—the bed was too hard and thin, making it difficult to rest properly, and the pod itself does not block out noise well, so you can easily hear other guests moving around or talking, which affects sleep quality; while the concept of having a private pod is nice, the facilities and cleanliness feel quite basic and inconsistent, so it’s acceptable if you just need a cheap place to stay for a night or two, but not ideal if you’re looking for comfort or a good, uninterrupted sleep.

The room was extremely dirty and clearly not properly maintained. There was thick dust on multiple surfaces and a noticeable moldy condition. I tried wiping parts of the room myself, and the tissues turned completely black. Within a short time, I had filled an entire bin just from cleaning.
Other than that, the toilet was clean and the location is good. I hope the hotel can improve their cleanliness standards.

This was my first time staying in a capsule hostel, and I found this one through Trip.com with an open mind.
**Check-in convenience:** The front desk staff were two Chinese individuals, and check-in was quite efficient. They informed me about the hostel rules, such as no air conditioning from 11 AM to 3 PM (which might not suit everyone), and then escorted me upstairs to show me how to use the keyless entry. I had a bit of trouble with it, but the front desk lady promptly helped me out.
**Facilities:** In the room, each bed had a pillow, duvet, bath towel, clothes hanger, power outlet, a password-locked locker (approx. 35x50x45 cm), and a key card.
In the common areas, there were toothbrushes, earplugs, combs, razors, hairdryers, shower rooms, restrooms, washing machines, and drying racks. Since everyone's schedules are different, if you encounter others in the morning, everyone waits patiently and orderly.
There aren't really any dedicated storage spaces for luggage in the rooms, and for girls who like to do their makeup, there's no specific shelf, so cosmetics end up wherever there's a surface.
One morning, when I opened my door, the narrow hallway revealed a girl by the window applying meticulous makeup, which reminded me of the saying: 'Life is not just about the struggles in front of you, but also poetry and distant lands...'
**Safety:** The hostel guests come from various countries, including Europe, America, Russia, and China. Don't let some of the tattoos fool you; everyone maintains polite boundaries, smiles and greets, and doesn't try to get too familiar.
My female dormitory could sleep 10 people and was almost full. I stayed for 3 nights. On the first night, a Chinese guest was making a quiet phone call at midnight. I said, 'Please take your call outside.' And they stopped. The second night was mostly quiet, except for the sound of guests unzipping their luggage. On the third night, I was drifting off to sleep when I was woken by quiet talking from the bunk below me to the right. I saw it was a Chinese guest on WeChat voice, so I said again, 'Please take your call outside.' At midnight, I was woken up again by the excited chattering of a Russian girl entering the room, so I got up and said, 'Could you please be a little quieter...' The girl turned around and said, 'Sorry.' Just as I was about to fall asleep, I heard a girl re-enter the room, quite loudly and seemingly upset. Fortunately, the noise stopped within a minute. Luckily, nobody snored loudly throughout the night, otherwise, I, being a light sleeper, would have had a very difficult time.
Going to the restroom or shower requires walking about 50 meters and passing through 4 doors. A midnight trip to the toilet pretty much wipes out any sleepiness.
**Hygiene:** Overall, the hygiene is quite good. I saw staff cleaning the common areas every day.
**Environment:** The hostel is a 5-minute walk from Chinatown MRT station, and it's surrounded by Chinatown, making it very convenient for food. If you're looking for cheaper options, you can find food courts on the 2nd floor of Chinatown Complex or at People's Park Complex. There's also a good little Chinese-run shop near the MRT entrance.
The hostel's ground floor has the front desk, a cafe, breakfast area, and a lounge. The sleeping area is on the second floor, accessed from an external door with a key card. Upstairs, there's a shared lounge, rooms, and shoe lockers (since shoes need to be left outside, the hallway has a bit of an odor). I didn't go up to the third floor.
Across from the female dorm is an Indian temple. On the first day, I didn't know what festival it was, but they were chanting and singing from 5 PM until 8:30 PM, and it started again at 7 AM the next morning, continuing into the evening. Fortunately, they stopped on the third day. The timing wasn't too bad and didn't affect my sleep.
**Service:** I stayed for 3 nights with breakfast included: toast, lettuce salad, milk tea, pastries, eggs, milk tea, and coffee. The pastries and eggs had some variety. There was a local Chinese staff member who politely and discreetly kept an eye on guests, mainly to prevent waste or misplaced utensils.
Every time I entered the restroom or toilet, they were quite clean, and there was always shower gel, shampoo, and toilet paper.
The only thing I couldn't understand was why the air conditioning was turned off from 11 AM to 3 PM in the rooms. Singapore is very hot. Is it to force everyone out to sightsee or run errands?
**Overall Impression:** I found this capsule hostel to be safe, with good environment, service, and facilities. It's a place I'd consider staying at again.
Thanks to Trip.com for the recommendation! Thanks to the hostel for its excellent management and service! And thanks to the generally well-mannered guests I encountered!

I arrived at 12:00 PM, and the receptionist initially informed me that I would be staying for only 1 night, despite having 2 separate bookings under my name for a total of 3 nights. After completing the registration, I was asked to return at 3:00 PM, which I understand is the standard check-in time.
However, I waited until around 2:30 PM with no update on my room status and had to follow up myself. The staff did not provide any update or apology for the wait. I fully understand that check-in time is at 3:00 PM, but basic communication and empathy toward guests are equally important.
On my last night, someone called my room at around 10:00 PM while I was already asleep ahead of an early morning flight, which was quite disruptive. Overall, my sleep quality during this stay was very poor.
On a positive note, the hotel’s location is very convenient, within about a 5-minute walk to Chinatown and the MRT. The view from the room is also nice, and the bed is comfortable.

The location is very convenient, breakfast is provided, and I slept comfortably. Slippers, a hairdryer, towels, and a toothbrush were all available. The only thing that could be improved is to clean the stains on the sheets and duvet covers. They were clean and odorless, but visually, the stains made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Overall, I recommend it and would stay again if I have the chance.

Great
GGuest UserThe Shangri-La Singapore boasts an excellent location, offering a serene and elegant environment with beautiful garden views. The check-in experience is relaxing and comfortable. The rooms are spacious, and the bedding is soft and skin-friendly, with a full range of toiletries provided. The overall service is attentive and thoughtful, with warm and polite staff. The breakfast selection is extensive. The only minor drawback is that some facilities are slightly older, but they are well-maintained and clean, which doesn't affect the stay at all. Overall, it offers good value for money, making it a great choice for a trip.
GGuest UserI stayed at Lyf Funan Singapore for 2nights as a business traveller.
The design is fun and colorful, not your typical hotel vibe. The room is compact but works fine, with a private bathroom, and the sink is outside the bathroom which is actually quite convenient. I stayed in a standard room—it’s okay for couples or friends.
The hotel has more of a co-living feel. There’s a shared kitchen, dining area, and even a small workout corner, so it feels more social than a normal hotel.
Breakfast was a bitsimple with limited options, just a few simple dishes and some bakery items. I’d recommend skipping it and eating outside instead.
Location is definitely a big plus. It’s inside Funan Mall, super convenient for shopping and food. You can also easily walk to places like Fort Canning Park (right across the road), Clarke Quay, and Merlion Park.
Overall, nice stay if you like modern design and a lively vibe—just don’t expect too much from the breakfast.
GGuest UserThe hotel's location is excellent, with a shopping mall right downstairs and Lau Pa Sat nearby, making dining very convenient. The decor is modern, and there's even a small kitchenette. The best part is being able to go up to the 51st floor for amazing views of Singapore.
--chenchen-The hotel is quite new overall, and the location is super convenient. I only stayed one night for a city layover, so here are the pros and cons:
**Pros:**
1. It's very easy to get to all the attractions, many are within walking distance. It's also close to the City Hall MRT station, and popular internet-famous restaurants and coconut milk tea shops are nearby.
2. We checked in with our child, and the staff immediately gave us a little snack bag for the kids. While it's not a family-themed hotel, it made a better impression than some dedicated family hotels.
**Minor Cons (not dealbreakers):**
1. We were given an adjoining room, which made me feel quite insecure. I actually moved the coffee table to block the door before I could sleep.
2. The toilet paper in the bathroom was very sparse! And the toilet flush button was incredibly, incredibly hard to press – you needed a lot of force. We initially thought it was broken.
3. We'd just spent three nights in Sentosa where the minibar was fully stocked and complimentary every day. In contrast, this hotel, at a similar price point, had an empty fridge, which was a bit of a shock. It really hit home that 'it's hard to go from luxury to frugality.'
4. Perhaps it's because efficiency is so high back home, but checking into hotels in Singapore feels incredibly slow. My child kept asking when we would finally be done.
**Overall:** I'd still recommend this hotel for business travelers and tourists.
GGuest UserSurprised about hotel room upgrade from queen size bed to king size bed! Room was spacious enough to put several large luggages together on the floor. The amazing location juz opposite Takashimaya and Paragon and mosque@Orchard Road. The hotel staffs were all very friendly and approachable. Asian buffet style breakfast@Eden restaurant - normally can only find plain porridge but here surprisingly we found delicious fish porridge with no fishy smell! Thank you, Pullman hotel for excellent services.
SSheilaOSheilaRelaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.
Really good rooms with luscious pillows. The tub was heavenly. The pool was packed with kids but enjoyed my time there to sleep, think and do almost nothing. 3 nights.
My only 2 gripes : no smoking room that's enjoyable to be in, and that their coffee is average.
I'll definitely give this a 5 star rating for peace, comfort and joy at a decent price.
GGuest UserOriginally booked this hotel for shits and giggles coz of Anthropic Claude. This place is obsessively clean. I’m talking about the kind of clean that makes you suspicious — like maybe they have a team that just polishes doorknobs all day. Everything is spotless. Even the complimentary laundry room (which, yes, is FREE with detergent pods included) looks surgical. Zero lint. No detergent residue. No mysterious washing machine funk. Just pure, sparkling cleanliness. For someone as particular as me about hygiene, this was an unexpected jackpot. If I could give it 6 stars I would.
Location is solid: walking distance to Chinatown, Maxwell Hawker Centre, Keong Saik Road’s fancy food scene, and two MRT stations (Chinatown and Maxwell). The outdoor courtyard smells like fresh lemon balm disinfectant, which is oddly specific but very reassuring. There’s also a complimentary minibar, which feels generous for a compact room.
The double bed room I booked was small but accurately described during booking, so no gotcha moments. If you’re short like me, the bed’s perfectly comfortable. They’ve maximized storage cleverly: luggage space, safety box, mini fridge under the bed. The courtyard becomes your unofficial living room since the actual room is just… bed.
The Meh
The rain shower is a mystery. I still don’t know how to use it without turning the bathroom into a wading pool. The handheld showerhead has weak water pressure, though the bathroom itself is otherwise excellent. So clean!!! You can feel the MRT rumbling underneath (acceptable noise level), but the real problem is Leila, the bar downstairs. If you’re into nightlife, great! If you’re trying to sleep on the second floor, less great. I could hear thumping bar music until late. Front desk was gracious and delivered earplugs promptly when I asked, so points for responsiveness.
Walking around during rainy season would be a drag.
The Verdict
Would stay again for overnight layover purely for the cleanliness. Thanks for the random pick, Claude (both the AI and the hotel). 🧼✨🤖
AAnonymous UserThe room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable, and the soundproofing was good. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and check-in was efficient. The location is convenient for getting around, and overall, it offers great value for money. My stay was very pleasant and I'd recommend it.
JJay Sae LeeWe were going to store our luggage before checking in, but luckily the front desk staff Mr. Faddilli assisted us for an early check in. We were very happy for the early check in. The hotel location is superb and the lobby is very spacious. But there were not much amenities provided for a 4 star hotel. Overall we are satisfied.
AAnonymous UserUgh, I forgot to take photos, so I'll use some random ones instead. First off, I chose this place because it's super close to Universal Studios, and I figured a chain hotel wouldn't be too bad. But the price wasn't exactly cheap – I paid over 480 for a queen room. I know hotels in Singapore are pricey, so this was within my expected budget; I'd already come to terms with the cost. The front desk staff were all really nice. However, my heart sank when I opened the door. The room was tiny, and they don't provide slippers, toothbrushes, or cups, citing environmental reasons... though if you ask the front desk for a toothbrush, they'll give you one. For cleanliness, I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5 – not terrible, but not outstanding either. It's a small room but has all the essentials, though you definitely can't fit two suitcases in there; it felt really cramped. On the bright side, the soundproofing seemed pretty good. I'm not sure if there were no other guests or if everyone was just incredibly considerate, but I didn't hear any noise. Plus, I was so exhausted from sleeping at the airport the night before that I slept like a log. It was the best night's sleep of my entire trip, and I was genuinely shocked that I slept best in the smallest room... Oh, and the shower gel and shampoo are all-in-one, so if you're particular, you might want to bring your own.
