Amazing
AAnonymous UserWe had a wonderful stay at Novotel Christchurch Airport. The location is unbeatable — literally just a short walk from the airport terminal, making it incredibly convenient, especially for travellers with young children. We stayed for one night with our toddler as we had an early morning flight the next day, and it was the perfect choice. Being able to rest properly without worrying about airport transfers made our journey so much smoother. The room was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped for our family. Everything was clean and thoughtfully laid out, giving us a relaxing stay before our flight. The staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. A special mention to the concierge team, who kindly gifted our toddler a cute little Kiwi bird plushie. It was such a thoughtful gesture and brought a huge smile to his face. Small touches like these really make a difference and leave a lasting impression. Overall, we had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. Great service, fantastic location, and family-friendly hospitality. We would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in Christchurch.

YYizhilaozongziUpgraded to a top-floor room as a platinum member. The room wasn't huge, but the view was great. Check-in at the front desk was very friendly; there weren't any Chinese-speaking staff, but communication was smooth. Crowne Plaza Christchurch boasts an excellent downtown location, within walking distance of Victoria Square, the Avon River, and the Cathedral. The rooms are modern, spacious, and very clean, with some offering city and river views. Breakfast is generous, and the service is professional and attentive. The hotel also has a well-equipped fitness center and other facilities. Overall, it was a comfortable and efficient experience, perfect for both business and leisure travelers, making it a top choice for accommodation in Christchurch.

GGuest UserI stayed at this hotel for three nights in Christchurch. Overall, it maintained Hilton's usual high standards and was generally satisfying. **Ambiance:** The hotel is beautiful, with vibrant flowers in the garden. Enjoying breakfast in the restaurant with a view of the garden outside the window was a real pleasure. The hotel is also very close to the city center. On a sunny day, it was lovely to walk to the city center, visit the Botanic Gardens, the Arts Centre, the Riverside Market, and the Cardboard Cathedral, all while strolling along the Avon River. I managed to check off many attractions without even realizing it. **Cleanliness:** Housekeeping was prompt, and the room was clean and tidy. I didn't find any dirty spots. **Facilities:** The hotel seems to be a bit old, so the facilities aren't brand new, but they are sufficient and well-equipped, including a hairdryer, iron, kettle, refrigerator, and air conditioning – enough for a short stay. The room's balcony was also nice, overlooking a lawn, perfect for some peaceful relaxation. The only drawback was the poor soundproofing in the room. The room next door frequently opened and closed their door, sometimes more than ten times between 10 PM and 1 AM, and at one point, it was every ten minutes or so. Each time, it made a huge noise that felt like the bed was shaking, waking me up multiple times. I even started to wonder if countless people were staying next door. This kind of thing is really down to luck, but better sound insulation would have made for a less disturbing stay. **Service:** The front desk staff were very polite and enthusiastic during both check-in and check-out, which left a great impression. We were given two bottles of water and two warm cookies upon check-in, which was a thoughtful touch. The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the suspected subtle racial discrimination from the restaurant's reception staff. I stayed here for three days and saw many other Chinese tourists. Not once did I hear the staff say goodbye or thank you to us when we left the restaurant. They would just stand there, pretending not to see us, but then smile and thank the Caucasian guests walking behind us. This happened every single time for three days, and they pretended not to see other Chinese guests leaving too. I have to wonder, is this how the hotel trains its staff? To provide different service based on race? These staff members, who were older and positioned at the restaurant entrance for greeting and guiding, were not the young, busy servers inside the restaurant, who did a great job. Based on this subtle differential treatment, I can only give the service three stars, no more.

WWenhaoyousifangThe room was spacious and well-equipped with pots, a range hood, and a toaster. Booking early definitely saved me some money compared to booking 3-4 days before. The hotel's location is excellent, and the surroundings are beautiful (P2, P3). It's in the heart of Christchurch, a 5-minute walk from the Avon River, and about 10-15 minutes on foot to the botanical garden entrance. I also walked to the city's bus interchange. For the airport, you can take bus routes 8 or 29, which is also about an 8-minute walk away. The front desk staff seemed to be Indian, and communication in English was smooth. Ctrip recommended I change my room type booking to get the lowest total price for two consecutive nights, but this might have required me to switch rooms the next morning. I spoke with the front desk, and she patiently helped me stay in the higher-priced room for both nights (without having to switch rooms); I just needed to reactivate my key card the next morning. After 10:30 PM, the hotel's front desk is unstaffed. If you check in too late, they will leave your room key in a coded box outside the main entrance and send the code to your email. The only minor issue is that a casino in Christchurch is right next to the hotel (P1), about a 5-minute walk away. However, the security at night is actually quite good (P4) – it's livelier than Auckland at night. I wandered around until 8:30 PM and didn't see anyone who was drunk on my way back to the hotel.

AAxinwukongThe location is fantastic! It's convenient for getting everywhere. The cathedral is right downstairs, and it's not far from the lakeside market or the Cardboard Cathedral, all within walking distance. The sightseeing bus stop is also close by, and the Avon River gondola rides are nearby too. Taking a taxi to the Botanic Gardens, the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts, and the art gallery isn't far either. Both New Brighton Pier and Sumner Beach are about 10 kilometers away by taxi, similar to the distance to the airport, and Uber fares are reasonable. Overall, I'm satisfied. Just a minor note, it seemed like the shampoo and other amenities weren't checked and might have run out without being noticed.

GGuest UserIt was a rainy and windy New Year's Eve in Christchurch. After a long struggle picking up the rental car at the airport in the rain, we cautiously drove for half an hour to reach the hotel and park. The black gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel's inner courtyard is beautiful. The room decor, as mentioned in other reviews, is indeed a bit dated, but the room itself is quite spacious. We braved the stormy weather to walk back and forth to Amazonita for our New Year's Eve dinner, and my pants and socks were completely soaked when we returned. To my surprise, there was a washer-dryer combo unit, complete with two small packets of laundry detergent and instructions taped next to it. After getting Doubao to translate how to use the machine, I washed all my wet clothes. They came out warm and dry, ready to wear the next day.

KKenny_ChengBudget, clean & comfortable hotel. I stayed in the mixed sleeping pod. Each pod come with locked storage. The communal resting area & kitchen is housed in a huge space with high ceilings, a bit stuffy though since the kitchen is also in the same area. The hotel is very near to Christchurch airport, ideal location for those at late arrival or require early departure.

GGuest UserMy friends and I had a great stay at The Bealey Quarter! The motel is situated in Christchurch City, allowing easy access to the tourist sites, whether you're travelling on foot, by car, or by public transport. There are plenty of buses and metro buses that frequently stop right near the accommodation as well! The staff were very friendly. We had a late flight (that got delayed even later) and ended up having to check in after hours. They were very accommodating with this, and similarly, when we asked for new towels, we received them immediately. Similarly, they were kind enough to allow us to put our luggage in their reception office whilst we went to collect our rental car on the day that we checked out. My only issue is that I had to contact them a few times before I received the late check-in details. The facilities were lovely. and very clean! The bathroom was private with a shower with good pressure and hot water. The bench and the toilet were a little high, which we were surprised by, but this wasn't a major issue at all! My only recommendation would be to add a ventilation fan to the bathroom, as although there is an open window above the sink, ventilation was still not ideal. The room came with a heater, a really good fan, and very comfy blankets and duvets. We were also provided with glasses and mugs, a selection of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, a hair dryer, a bin, a little cupboard, desk, chair, and even a bench where our suitcases fit really well. The view of the courtyard was beautiful despite the somewhat miserable weather, and access to the courtyard via the back door meant we could use the hammocks in the nice grassy area :) The back door was a bit tough to open, and we had to actually get the staff to show us how to use it. My only other qualm is that there is no potable water in the rooms themselves. Instead, our keycard allows us to the Lodge (I believe the hostel area), where there's a kitchen and we can fill up. Overall, we had a great experience here and I definitely recommend the Bealey Quarter to anyone coming to Christchurch. It was so affordable too :)) I didn't get many good photos but here you go!
