Review of Onna Resort, Okinawa About me: I’m a frequent flyer to Japan and a long-time fan of staying at villas and resorts across the country. I enjoy discovering different accommodations across Japan. This time, I chose Onna Resort for a relaxing group trip. ⸻ 👍 What I liked: • Spacious resort– Very roomy and comfortable, easily fits 7–8 people. Perfect for families or groups of friends. • Clean and well-maintained – The entire resort was spotless and felt well cared for. • View exactly as shown in photos – Stunning ocean view that matches the listing. Great for enjoying sunrise and sunset. • Beach nearby – A beach is within walking distance. While it may not be the best in Okinawa, it’s still nice for a stroll or quick swim. • Washer and dryer setup – Includes both a washer-dryer combo and a separate dryer, which is especially handy for drying towels and clothes after swimming. • Well-equipped kitchen – Good selection of cookware and appliances for preparing meals. • Private and quiet surroundings – Peaceful setting with no disturbance from other guests. ⸻ 👎 What could be improved: • Inconsistent check-in information – The email offered early check-in, and a staff member via video call said I could check in at 2pm. But when I arrived, another staff said it was 3pm. This communication gap should be addressed. • Missing basic items – No cups or glasses were provided, obviously an oversight by the cleaning staff. • Limited towel supply – Towels are provided strictly based on headcount. Given the proximity to the beach, it would be more convenient to offer a few extra towels without needing to ask. • Limited Coffee Supply - The resort provides coffee bags based on headcount as well, which was insufficient for guests who consume two or three cups daily. A more generous and considerate coffee supply would enhance the experience. • Insufficient tableware – Only two large plates were provided. It would be more practical to include additional small dishes, rice bowls, and condiment plates (e.g. for soy sauce or wasabi), especially for guests who plan to cook. • Lack of basic cooking ingredients – It would be helpful if staple items like cooking oil, salt, and pepper were provided to make meal preparation more convenient. • No power outlets near beds – Most sockets were located low on the wall and away from sleeping areas, making it inconvenient to charge phones or devices overnight. • Weak Wi-Fi signal in places – Internet connection was spotty in some areas of the villa, although it offers several wifi spots within the resort, but still weak

The room was very clean, bright, and spacious. Coffee, tea, and other drinks were available for free all day in several spots. The public area above the main building also had billiards, darts, and board games. Dinner was a buffet, and there was Okinawan live music, Ago pork shabu-shabu, and really good ice cream. In the evening, you could also go to the outdoor lounge area to sit, drink beer, and chat, and they even provided fireworks to play with. When you're tired, you can go back to your room and have a jacuzzi bath; bath salts are available at the lobby. It was a very comfortable day.

Was impressed by the excellent service provided by Kim at the front desk, she handled our check-in efficiently. The rest of the team were also warm and friendly, and spoke fluent English. Something interesting was a self-serve room where you can get extra amenities like face wash and bar soaps, and also try different types of Okinawan brown sugar. There were lots of board games available so families would probably appreciate that. We truly enjoyed the view from our room as it had a good angle of the sea even though the hotel isn’t located at the beach. The room was huge and even had a freezer and an oven. For longer stays or if you’re visiting the beach often, the washer dryer would come in handy as well. The hotel had two restaurants for breakfast and although the variety was great, with a good mix of local and international cuisine, the quality could be improved. We had lunch on our first day and regretted our decision. Location-wise, the hotel would be better for those who intend to drive as it was quite a walk to the nearest bus stop, and the shuttle bus service was infrequent so we ended up not using it at all. I

This was our 3rd stay here since the pandemic and it remains the one and only Best Western we ever visit. The hotel consistently offers fantastic value for money, spacious and clean rooms, and an incredible beach view. What really made this trip stand out, though, was the exceptional service from front desk staff Yuki. When we ran into an issue right after check-in, he resolved it instantly. Later on, we encountered a stressful situation locally, Yuki really stepped up to help us handle it. He went completely above and beyond his duties to ensure our holiday wasn’t ruined. It is staff members like Yuki who keep us returning every year. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our holiday. Perfect location, Good value for money, kind people, but a little bit strong rules about swimming (you can use only limited area and limited time (till 5 pm), after that is swimming forbidden at hotel beach area!!!) But OK, then you can use the public beach not so far away from the hotel. And breakfast…., it’s a separated chapter. There is a big range for improvement, but maybe it is OK for Japanese. We alternated them with shopping something at the supermarket.

Pros: The rooms were gigantic and equipped with two ACs to keep the room cool. The staff was attentive. The location by the beach is nice. There is a lot of amenities but we weren’t able to use any because we checked in late. They seem to all close really early for some reason. Beds were comfortable and the little shops were super cute. I love the stamp rally that was happening when we were there. Cons: all the amenities closed fairly early. We weren’t able to enjoy them. You need a golf cart to get around which was extra cost. They’re quite pricey and very slow. All the restaurants booked up really quickly. Meaning unless you get there early, you have no choice in dining. We just drove out and got amazing food outside the resort.

The hotel was very easy to locate, right off the main road, yet not noisy. The staff gave us a warm welcome and was very friendly and helpful. They are English speaking too. Room was spacious in Japanese standards. Very comfortable for 2 of us. Beds and beddings were clean and comfortable, we had very good sleep. Lots of amenities for you to pick at each floor lobby. And they have free washer and dryer on the 3rd floor too. Great for travellers staying longer. There are many restaurants and convenience stores all with minutes of driving in the vicinity. This is definitely a great place to stay.

easily one of the best stays ever! The hotel is located right beside the sea, literally along the shoreline, and it’s incredibly quiet. You can open the balcony door, let the cool breeze in, and fall asleep to the sound of the waves — genuinely therapeutic and such a rare experience! For a city person, this place feels like a hidden gem. The room is spacious, the bed is comfortable, and the bathroom was clean with good hot water, which was especially appreciated during the autumn season. The only thing was that Wi-Fi seem a bit unstable and took some time to connect. Breakfast is complimentary and surprisingly good — clean, simple, and tasty, possibly reflecting a typical Okinawan-style breakfast. One of the best parts of the morning was taking a short walk along the beach right after breakfast. Overall, a very pleasant and memorable seaside stay.

Hotel Route Inn Nago was a pleasant surprise! The service was fantastic, really attentive and friendly. While the room wasn’t very big, it was clean and had all the necessary amenities. One of the highlights was the hot spring bath—it was super relaxing and a great way to unwind after a day of exploring. The included breakfast buffet had a wide variety to choose from. Overall, it was a nice stay, and I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a comfortable and cozy spot in Nago!

This new hotel, which I chose blindly, was actually pretty good. It's very quiet and suitable for a relaxing vacation. There are convenience stores and a few restaurants nearby, so staying for three or four days isn't an issue. You can also take the bus to explore. Overall, I was quite satisfied. However, the children's entertainment facilities by the sea were a real eyesore. They made an otherwise pristine beach look quite tacky (as shown in the last picture).
