I have a permanent residence in Japan, so it's understandable that the front desk would ask for my residence card. However, they also insisted on making a copy of my ID, which no other hotel in Japan has ever done, and I found that quite perplexing. 2. There were still hairs from the previous guest stuck to the shampoo bottle in the bathroom, which is simply unacceptable.
