Guest UserThis is a hotel that thinks about everything you may need before you have to ask. It's remote from the other hotels in the Kamikochi area and that's a great thing: you get to experience staying high up the serene mountains as well as enjoying the walking trails in the valleys below, where most tourists stay. But the staff make it easy to get to the hotel (and back and forth from the walking and hiking trails) even if you're taking public transport rather than a car to get there. They have a shuttle bus always on call to get you back to the hotel from a public bus stop. There's a really laid back vibe at the hotel, unlike some of the sometimes excessively formal atmospheres of others. Staff planned out our tricky onward journey without us having to ask, which was incredibly helpful. Room views were breath-taking and the rooms themselves were tradional-ish and spacious. The onsens were delightful after a long hike and the food was very, very good and generous portions. A hotel that didn't feel transactional. Would love to stay again.

Guest UserIt was the best. We booked a room with an open-air bath, so my parents and I could relax. The breakfast had a wide variety of options and we really enjoyed it. The jazz concert in the evening was a great surprise!

Fukashiso could be one of the loveliest accommodation that I have ever stayed at. The staff were very polite, attentive and extremely helpful and courteous. The place itself is so beautiful and quaint. Traditional garments are provided as an option if you want to dress up for dinner. Made for great photo ops! The Kaiseki was the most beautiful equivalent of a degustation I’ve tried, and it was served in a lovely separate intimate dining area. During dinner Nobu-San a fourth generation family member of the owners greeted us which was a lovely touch. Soba was freshly made at the accomodation. We stayed two nights and the Kaiseki menu was different each time. Breakfast was a nice assortment of Japanese and Western options and the coffee machine was actually pretty good. I enjoyed the onsens, there are two public ones that switch locations for men and women and a private one. They were well equipped and relaxing. Our room was on Level 1 with a private bathroom, seating area and little garden view. Overall this place is highly recommended. For a traditional ryokan experience, it was so nice. Even after we checked out, the receptionist gave us a little gift, and even walked us outside to where our car was parked. Such a warm and lovely place. Stay here for sure!

Guest UserThis hotel is large and very modern. However, if you don't have your own car, the location is a bit far from Matsumoto Station, about an 800-meter walk.
The beds are comfortable, and the breakfast buffet offers a wide variety. On the day we went to Kamikochi, we had to leave early, and the hotel prepared a delicious-looking sandwich box for us. If I go to Matsumoto again, I would definitely stay here.

ZatanIf you're coming to Matsumoto and looking for a place with free onsen, this is it! It's very close to the station, the price is reasonable, and the breakfast is delicious. They offer free luggage storage, ice, microwaves, and laundry services on multiple floors.

Guest UserBy the time we got there by rental car it was quite late, the reception team has been patient and friendly. Suggest to have more illustrated print out for driving to the sightseeing parking lots and more maps to show before heading out. Plus the water machine is not very handy in giving out hot water for tea. Others are perfect in terms of room and environment.

The room is a bit like a small house in Tokyo, it is still crowded! The twin room is a twin room with a bunk bed, and the lower one will be bigger, the upper bunk will be a little narrower, but the bed is still very comfortable overall, and sleeps very well! Breakfast is free, starting at 6:30 in the morning, winter is different from summer, and the store notice shall prevail. But the price/performance ratio really has nothing to say. Is it a night of sleep or recommended 😃 also self-check in and then the room door lock password will be printed on a piece of paper, which is more convenient. The station is about 5 minutes away, it is still very close.

Guest UserThe room was a bit old but well-cleaned. Unfortunately, when I checked in, only smoking rooms were available, so there was a cigarette smell in the room. However, the staff was helpful and provided a scent spray. The breakfast was delicious and very diverse – I was really impressed! There's parking available next to the hotel for 750 yen per night.

Honestly, I can't praise this place enough.
The owners are a really lovely couple; very welcoming and extremely helpful. The rooms are great - plenty of space and all the amenities you need for a short stay. The onsen is just the best - it's a private one that you can lock the door to and have to yourself for as long as you can cope with the hot water!
But the *food* - wow! The food is absolutely fantastic and expertly cooked. Honestly, I've eaten in Michelin starred restaurants with food that wasn't as good as this. On top of that, at our first evening meal, we found that the message hadn't been relayed about my wife being a pescatarian. Anywhere else that might have been a problem, but within twenty-five minutes an entire new fish meal had been prepared and served - and was absolutely amazing. We were SO impressed.
Also, what a truly beautiful location. Oh yes, and they have *monkeys*!! They wandered past the property in the evening and wandered back the next morning.
I'm trying to name anything negative and I honestly can't - the closest thing I can think of is that the property is hard to locate and you definitely need a car to get there, but if you can get there, do - it was one of two equal-best places we've stayed at in Japan.
Thank you to the owners (sorry, I never asked your names) for a wonderful stay in your home.
