JR Kyushu Station Hotel Kokura

We are so surprised by the quality and service of this hotel, as we expected older facilities etc. The location is super convenient - directly above JR. We drove so we parked downstairs which we can use multiple times a day. Very accessible to shops and restaurants - can't think of a better location than this one. In terms of service - staff speak good English and very friendly and approachable. We had a do not disturb sign on during cleaning hours but instead of like any other hotel to just skip your room until requested, they put a bag of supplies outside our room with towels, robes, toilet paper, amenities refreshers, drinking water and everything else they supply in our room, which was absolutely fantastic. I am truly amazed and would stay at this hotel again if I visit Kokura and will recommend others too. Highly recommend that you book superior rooms. Thank you staff for this wonderful experience!! Reception at 4 pm was slow and it was necessary for several guests to wait for the two reception people even though they had three other people greeting guests. The nearby Shinkansen station provides easy access to the hotel which is an easy 5-10 minutes walk. Wifi worked well and the air conditioning was good especially in the cold weather. Rooms are a good size and in good condition with above average views. House keeping was also good, though guests need to request daily services by placing a card on the room door otherwise daily service is not provided. The four lifts provided an efficient service. I didn’t have breakfast on this occasion but have had it in the past and it’s of a good quality and high standard. The staff are lovely and caring. The location is good being near the main Shinkansen station. Beyond the station there are shopping centres and street malls with a variety of restaurants and shops to meet most people’s needs. There are also many nearby restaurants that should suit most people’s cuisine, budget and type of food. Buses and subway stations are nearby and provide access to various parts of the city. There are several attractions within 30-60 minutes of the hotel such as temples and museums. Overall a pleasant stay and happy to visit again.

I stayed there on the 11th floor for two days, from Thursday to Saturday. Noise wasn't a problem at all. Overall, the hotel was okay, except for a dirty coverlet with a blood stain and some dirt. I asked the front desk to help with it, and they fixed the issue. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were included for free, but I didn't eat there, so I can't comment on the food. The dining area was clean and tidy. In the room, the bed was a good size—not small—and there was a standard desk and chair, which worked well for me. Considering the price and the location—just a 5-10 minute walk to the train station—the hotel was pretty decent.

This hotel locates near by the Kokura train station makes it one of the most convenient hotel I have ever lived. Unfortunately I could only reserve a smoking room, but the smell was not too strong to clear out by some splash. I would suggest the manager to inform smoking customers not to smoke in the bathroom, in order to avoid the smoke on the shower curtain. And the services are pretty good provided by kind stuff with multiple language skills. There is even a snack and drink corner 24 hours on first floor. The only deficit of this hotel might be the sound proof of the top floor, 6th floor I lived. The sound could not penetrate through rooms, but there were multiple huge machines on the top of the room running through day and night and generated big noises. During the last night I lived, one of the noises was similar with the sound of unlocking the door, so I couldn' t sleep well because I felt like somebody was unlocking the door.

We were visiting to watch the rugby at the Mikuni World Stadium and wanted somewhere to stay near by. This place was an absolute gem, incredible room, huge jet bath with TV, breakfast served in bed and the best part was the view from the balcony included the Mikuni World Stadium. Staff were amazing, they didn’t speak English but were very quick to assist and help. They received post for me before my arrival which they gave to me as soon as I arrived, there was a private lounge area to rest and refresh when we arrived too early to check in. I would certainly revisit, especially if you’re headed to the stadium. I wish I’d taken more photos of the amazing room!

Fukuoka was too expensive for a weekend trip, so we booked in Kokura instead. It's a self-service apartment. Pre-registering online definitely saved a lot of time during check-in. The room wasn't particularly clean. Maybe it's not having white walls, but the interior colors felt a bit depressing. There were water stains on the coffee table. It was fine for a layover stay, I guess. Overall, the price was the main selling point.

The room was small, but the cleanliness of Japanese hotels never disappoints. Due to a sudden plumbing repair, I ended up experiencing a hot spring bath, which was quite relaxing. The river is a few minutes' walk away, and there's a shopping mall there, but you can also take a ferry for 5 RMB to Aeon Mall on the other side. The room faces the Soto Bridge, and there's a park nearby offering panoramic views of the small town.

Although the facility is relatively old, it is located close to Kokura Station and the service is good. If you don't want to take the key with you every time, you can leave it at the front desk and pick it up every time you come back, which is very convenient.
