Extremely satisfied with this hotel! It's super convenient, just a one-minute walk from the Shinkansen station. No need to drag your luggage far!
I booked a double room in the North Tower, which was perfect for one person, and the space was decent.
They replaced towels, slippers, and coffee daily.
My booking included breakfast, and you could choose between Japanese and Western options. The Japanese breakfast even had Kagoshima Kurobuta pork hotpot, which was so filling I didn't need to eat again, allowing me to try more things later!
I preferred the Western breakfast; the coffee was good, and the toast was delicious. I ended up having Western breakfast two days in a row, and they also offered takeaway coffee packets and waffles, which was a nice touch!
I'll definitely stay here again when I go to Kagoshima and will recommend it to my friends!

The hotel's location is excellent, right next to the planetarium. The airport shuttle stop is just a minute's walk to the left when you exit. The hotel is quiet, clean, and has a great design. The room size isn't huge, but it's perfectly sufficient for a solo traveler. The only downside is that breakfast is a set menu with no drinks, and it got a bit repetitive after four days. Overall, it's great value for money, and I recommend it!

Wonderful stay. Super delicious and wide spread of food for breakfast. The hotel has several restaurants and cafes that you do not need to venture out to eat. The souvenir shop is located beside Osen, do not miss it. Do step out of the area outside breakfast restaurant to see the full view of sakurajima, with sunrise view, though you may want to walk to the nearby lookout at the park. But I think the view from hotel is good. The bakery sells delicious bread, soft and fresh. Shuttle bus is available at both lobby, one near main entrance and one near the Italian restaurant at level one. There is a post box at the level one entrance too, you can send postcards there!

The hotel is conveniently located at the west exit of Kagoshima Central Exit. While not as bustling as the east exit, it's very quiet. Some amenities are available for self-service at the entrance, and coffee is unlimited during peak hours. It's a hotel that offers excellent value for money.

I often travel to Japan, and Dormy Inn rooms always seem to be in high demand. The 20+ sqm twin rooms, perfect for two adults and one child, are usually impossible to book. So, when I saw this room type available in Kagoshima, I decided to book it for one night.
Overall, my experience fell short of expectations. Unfortunately, neither adult could enjoy the onsen (hot springs) for personal reasons, which is arguably the hotel's main highlight – a real shame. The room itself was a bit small, and while cleanliness was decent, the toilet emitted a persistent garlic-like odor.
On the positive side, the dining options were excellent. Breakfast featured Kagoshima's special black pork shabu-shabu and a type of sashimi. Complimentary ice cream and Yakult were available all day in the lounge on the hot spring floor, and free soy sauce ramen was served after 9:30 PM. Given these amenities, I'd say it's best suited for adults who plan to fully utilize the onsen facilities.
What truly made the stay less than ideal wasn't just my inability to use the onsen. More significantly, during check-in, the front desk informed me that my reservation did not include a 3-year-old child, resulting in an additional charge for the child's accommodation and meals. This wasn't the hotel's fault, and honestly, I'm not sure who to blame. I distinctly remember booking for two adults and one child, so I'm puzzled about what went wrong in the process. Perhaps Dormy Inn and I simply weren't a good match this time.
I'm well aware that Japanese hotels charge per person, so I always meticulously enter the correct number of guests and compare prices across different platforms when booking in Japan. Having visited Japan over a dozen times, this was the first instance where I was charged extra at check-in due to a discrepancy in the number of guests. I was quite surprised when informed about the booking error. Checking my Trip.com confirmation on my phone at the front desk, I saw it indeed only listed two adults. I can only fault myself for never reviewing the confirmation after booking; moving forward, I'll be sure to check them carefully to catch and correct any issues promptly. After reporting this to Trip.com customer service, they responded quickly and later reimbursed me half of the additional cost.
During this trip, both hotels I booked through Trip.com had unexpected additional charges at check-in. Besides the Dormy Inn incident, another hotel in Fukuoka charged a separate accommodation tax. Interestingly, I booked a different hotel in Fukuoka on another platform, and its price already included this tax, so I didn't pay anything extra upon arrival. Moving forward, when booking hotels in Japan, I'll have to carefully consider if the lowest price offered on certain platforms might be due to hidden fees.
The hotel is located near restaurants and drug stores in Tenmonkan, and there is a convenience store below the hotel, which was great. Breakfast includes toast, coffee, and yogurt, and we were able to get to the Kagoshima Aquarium Io World by car right next to the hotel.

Richmond hotel was located opposite a big department store, with easy access to bus and trams. A combini is just opposite the hotel.
They have a wider range of personal amenities to pick at the lobby. They have 3 machines to handle checkout, exchange currency (e.g. 1000¥ to 100¥ coins for laundry machines on 6th floor, or break 10,000¥ to smaller notes). The machines also accept your hotel parking charges. When it was raining, hotel provided full size umbrellas for use, without deposit or giving room numbers, which is very convenient.
It has a car park with limited lots, so if you can secure one ,it will be very easy to unload and load your bags. Costs 2400¥ for 2 nights of parking.
Main place for food is closer to Tenmonkan area, which is walkable.

This was my first time staying at this hotel, visiting my aunt.
It's been years since I've stayed in Kagoshima (everything about the scenery has changed so much since I was a child...)←It's changed so much in just a few years...
I remember this hotel used to be Tokyu Inn... (this was decades ago though...)
So...it's a long-established hotel, so some people might be concerned about the small details??? (soundproofing←you can hear people's voices in the hallway a lot, and the usual door opening and closing sounds with the neighbors, and vibrations from above...)←I was alone, so I understand that it was easier to hear sounds...
It seems to be well-cleaned, but...the only thing that bothers me is...the black dots in the joints around the bathtub are a bit bothersome ^^;
The scenery can be said for Kagoshima city in general, but...
It has become so modernized that you can no longer see Sakurajima in its entirety from anywhere like before...it's a little sad...I feel nostalgic thinking that Sakurajima must have been visible diagonally from the window of my room in the past...
Unfortunately, the view from the window is similar to that of a business hotel in the city, so I gave it a bad review (-_-;)
The staff at the front desk were very friendly and answered my questions kindly, and I felt a warmth from them that is a little different from the business-like attitude of city hotels (^o^) ← Most people in Kagoshima are kind, so if you get lost when sightseeing or where to find a bus stop, please ask the locals around you (not 100% guaranteed though ^^;) I think you'll be happy with the kindness of others (^o^)
※ The photo I posted (a photo of Aeon, almost directly in front of Kagoshima Chuo Station) Do not cross over to the Aeon side, turn your back to Kagoshima Chuo Station and walk along the road on your left for less than 5 minutes ~
There is a tram stop right in front of the hotel (^o^)
※ Within Kagoshima city, you can take a tram or a bus (there are two other bus companies operating buses in addition to the city bus, so even if you are going to the same place, the stop may be the same depending on the bus company. (←We recommend that you check the number before boarding)
※If you are staying for a few days, we recommend purchasing an IC card (regular IC cards cannot be used)
Their own IC cards are sold at the bus terminals in Tenmonkan and Kagoshima Chuo Station, so I think it will be easier to get on and off if you charge it and use it~^^;
Anyway, Kagoshima city used to be centered on trams... but now it's almost only the line that runs right next to it... buses are the main means of transportation (it's like Kyoto ←Kagoshima doesn't have a subway...JR is the only train other than the tram^^;)

Amazing
HHuifeideyuerbushanggouThe hotel offers a shuttle service, which makes getting around very convenient. Right outside the hotel, there's a tram stop that takes you to the pier, where you can catch a boat to Sakurajima for sightseeing. The hotel's breakfast is quite substantial, with plenty of fruit, and the golden kiwi was especially sweet. All the staff were attentive and thoughtful. The hotel also has a free gym, and right next door is a hot spring ♨️ where you can enjoy a full soak or a foot bath; the spa services, however, are paid. Overall, everything was excellent. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit. I hope for friendship between China and Japan and world peace 🤝🏻
GGuest UserI booked this hotel on Trip.com for my summer trip to Japan, and my stay was excellent! Self check-in is available from 3 PM. The hotel boasts a convenient location and pleasant surroundings, though its facade is quite unassuming and easy to miss. Our connecting family rooms (two rooms) weren't particularly spacious but were clean and well-equipped, featuring an air purifier and an LG clothes dryer. Guests can also enjoy a public bath on the 12th floor. Located just 1.4 km from Kagoshima-Chuo Station, the area around the hotel offers a plethora of unique dinner options, such as the famous 'Wagaiebi' izakaya, specialty soba noodle shops, and a wide array of other local delicacies. Furthermore, drugstores, bakeries, and supermarkets are all conveniently accessible. While summer prices tend to be a bit higher, the hotel offers very reasonable rates during off-peak seasons.
LLeanne415Had a great stay at Daiwa. The location is so great. It’s across the street from the airport bus stop. Across the street is all The Kagoshima Island View hop on and hop off bus stop, and buses/trams to Sakurajima, Kagoshima Chuo train station. It’s right next to the Tenmonkan shopping arcade and tons of food and bar options. You can also walk to so many tourist attractions. You can’t go wrong with this hotel based on location alone. The rooms are bigger than average and clean. The washrooms especially were an impressive size with great appliances from Reha. There are so many amenities to choose from at the front desk lotions to hair milk to Epsom salt, different coffee pods and tea bags. There is a self serve laundry on the 8th floor that costs 600 yen. The hotel is quiet for the fact that it’s located in the center of all the action. My room had a beautiful view of Sakurajima and the city. Will definitely stay here next time I come to Kagoshima!
GGuest UserThe location is superb, room was clean, spacious and with a nice balcony. The room provided all you need on a leisure trip.
The only downside was it was super complicated and time consuming to contact the hostel for entrance pin, check-in procedure and check-in number. We asked the front desk receptionist of our previous hotel to call the hostel number stated on trip.com booking confirmation email in morning, but no one picked up; called again at 3pm, and the hostel hotline said the number was wrong and referred us to call another number. If we did not have the assistance from a Japanese local receptionist from another hotel, I dont think we could get the entrance pin and check-in procedure information smoothly.
I recommend this hostel to Japanese local, or tourists with a Japanese mobile number to make calls/able to find assistance from Japanese local people.
Aa350ryomaThis hotel's location is super convenient, right in the heart of the Tenmonkan area, with the tram stop directly in front. It's walking distance to the bustling downtown and plenty of restaurants, so exploring and dining out was a breeze. The hotel and rooms felt new and clean, making for a very comfortable stay. The artificial carbonated hot spring in the public bath was fantastic for soothing away travel fatigue. I especially enjoyed the breakfast on the top floor, with amazing views of Sakurajima while savoring dishes made with local ingredients. The staff were also very attentive and polite. Overall, I'd say this is a highly satisfying hotel.
GGuest UserThe room is genuinely cozy, sparkling clean, and feels like a new apartment. It's about a 7-8 minute walk from Tenmonkan. The street downstairs is lined with nightclubs, so it's probably best not to return too late. There's a 7-Eleven downstairs and a local supermarket diagonally opposite, offering all sorts of fresh meat and vegetables. It was perfect for us to buy ingredients and use the room's kitchenware for a satisfying yakiniku or shabu-shabu meal. The local wagyu and kurobuta pork were incredibly fragrant and absolutely delicious! Check-in and check-out are fully self-service, which has its pros and cons. The advantage is the peace, quiet, and freedom it offers. However, the downside is that if it's raining and you need help calling a taxi, there's no staff member available to assist you. A taxi ride to Kagoshima-Chuo Station costs about 1000 yen. I would definitely choose to stay here again if I have the opportunity.
AAnonymous UserI was impressed by the friendly staff, all of whom had the biggest smiles. Kagoshima Chuo Station is about a 20-minute walk away, straight along the main street in front of the hotel. The breakfast buffet featured a wide variety of local Kagoshima ingredients and traditional dishes, as well as a wide selection of sweets, making it a delightful experience from the start of the day.
VvivimimiI originally wanted to book the highly recommended Shiroyama Hotel, mainly to see the active volcano scenery in Kagoshima! But I booked too late. I saw that this art hotel was also said to offer good value for money. The only downside is that it's a bit far from Kagoshima-Chuo, so you'll need to take a taxi, otherwise, the bus ride takes over half an hour. The room with a view is indeed outstanding. However, the hotel is a bit old, and the facilities are a bit dated. Plus, there's no hot spring, and the only swimming pool is closed in winter. There's also an outdoor spa that requires advance booking and a swimsuit, which I unfortunately didn't bring, so I had to give it a miss. The front desk staff spoke good English. The only issue was that on weekends, breakfast was super crowded, and we had to queue for half an hour 😮💨. However, the breakfast spread was quite rich. Overall, it's not bad, especially suitable for those traveling by car.
GGuest UserEven though this is an old hotel and it shows in its facilities and overall design, the service and amenities you get as a solo traveller is worth thw price you pay for an overnight stay. The room is clean albeit small but sufficient. Some points to take note if you're planning to book:
This is close to the central station so it's juat a block away from major shopping and transport options.
The hotel closes its front desk and doors at 11 pm to 7 am. Checkin before 11 pm. Going in and out of the hotel at that time is possible if you use your key card to open the front doors.
Walls are thin and it's very possible that you would hear your neighbor.
There's free coffee and drinks at the lobby.
