"I traveled to Dublin alone and initially wasn't planning on booking such a large place, but for safety and the overall experience, I ended up booking this apartment. It's located in an affluent area of Dublin, where people are genuinely friendly and even cars will yield to you, unlike in the UK where they'd just honk. Here, they'll even smile and wave you through. Public transport, however, is a bit tricky. Buses are hard to come by and you absolutely have to wave them down to stop. So, getting around can be a bit inconvenient. If you have to catch a flight or a ferry, you definitely need to factor in extra time – at least an additional half-hour for waiting for the bus on top of your usual travel time. For instance, I allowed an extra hour for the bus and managed to catch my ferry back to the UK, saving myself €28 on a taxi. Another bonus is that you save money on laundry since the room has washing and drying facilities. Plus, you can cook your own meals, which also saves a considerable amount. There's a supermarket nearby where you can pick up pre-prepared meals to pop in the oven. The staff's attitude was generally good. Being in Ireland, if you just complain about the British, everyone treats you wonderfully. However, the facilities were a disaster. When I checked in, there was no one at the front desk. I had to contact Trip.com to get someone to come out. Then, the main door lock was broken and couldn't be secured at all. I had to contact Trip.com again and go down to find someone. They told me they'd fix it that afternoon, but I explained that with all my belongings in the room, I wouldn't feel comfortable with them fixing it while I wasn't present, and I'd have to stay there. So I told them to just fix it after I checked out. I ended up staying in that room with the faulty lock for three nights. And since I was alone, they didn't even charge a security deposit, just made a copy of my passport for their records, which was actually quite thoughtful."

"A beautiful hotel! We encountered two weddings during our three-day stay. The front desk staff were fantastic – they didn't hesitate at all when we booked breakfast or requested a late check-out. We even left our luggage at the front desk while waiting for a taxi without any worries."

"The room has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The hotel is great for many reasons. The proximity to the train station is a major plus as it is only a 25min train ride into Dublin City. The amenities and service of the hotel is also a plus, there is free luggage storage which is handy. The hotel also has a spa, sauna, steam room and pool for guests to use which makes the stay extra relaxing!"

"The room can be said to be general, the window is other buildings, the view is not good, can not be regarded as a luxury hotel not worthy of this price, can be said to be the level of a fast hotel. Mainly because the hygiene is too bad, the kettle is particularly dirty when I check in, the hotel has been changed, but there are some debris on the platform, and there is a guest's hair on the shower head. Every day, the cleaning is also average, such as the carpet is not sucked."

"Honestly we booked this hotel because the other hotel was full. However we realised this was a beautiful mistake. And our friend came to visit also agreed that this is a much better hotel. The property is old however recently rennovated and beautifully decorated and the facilities were new. The hotel is surpirsingly well staffed and service standaed is very high and helpful. Overall a great place to stay if u are on holiday to this well known seaside town! I will come back for sure if i come back to Dublin!"

"The room size is not small, clean and tidy, the bathroom is in good condition and the bed is very comfortable. The downside is that the heating is average, it is a bit cold at night, and a thick quilt is needed. In addition, there is no elevator and it is inconvenient to carry luggage."

"The room is spacious and bright. The location is very safe in the embassy area. For food, there are some restaurants about 5-8 minutes walk away. Although there are not many choices, it is okay to eat. The hotel's afternoon tea is very ordinary and has no special features. It feels very comfortable and quiet to live in. I will probably stay in this hotel again next time. The Christmas atmosphere is also very good."

GGuest UserI recently stayed at the Hotel Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin and found its location on O'Connell Street to be exceptionally convenient for exploring Dublin's main attractions. The room was clean and featured a mini-fridge, which was useful for keeping drinks cool. However, the breakfast experience was underwhelming. The selection lacked variety, and the quality didn't meet expectations. Additionally, the lobby area felt cramped during peak times, making it less inviting for relaxation. While the hotel's central location is a significant advantage, improvements in breakfast offerings and lobby comfort would enhance the overall guest experience.

TTracy008We booked a hotel for two nights, and the room they gave us was very clean, with a microwave and refrigerator so we could cook. The hotel wasn't far from the city center, and the transportation nearby was very convenient. The only downside was that the air conditioner in the room was constantly making noise, which slightly affected my sleep quality.

SSolo traveler 0The hotel location was very close to the red line tram and several bus stops including the dublin express bus stop. It is around 20 minutes by local transportation from downtown. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and had all you may need. The air conditioning was good. There’s a working space on the ground floor that you may use for free any time you like even after checkout till 5 pm. There’s a 24 hour reception. They offer luggage storage.

TTeacherTravelTimesI decided to ditch staying in the city centre based on my below par experiences there on my last trip. When looking on Trip.com, Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Dalkey was the same price as several dorm rooms in the city centre when I looked. Getting there from Dublin Airport was relatively straightforward. I took and Aircoach from the airport to Dalkey/Ulverton Road and then walked for about 15 minutes. Up to the hotel entrance. The hotel is fairly old fashioned but personally I found it very charming. The staff were well-trained in the art of hospitality, the rooms were clean, locals were in and out of the bar, restaurant and leisure centre. Furthermore, the room was spacious with tea and coffee making facilities. The tv had a nice range of channels and the bathroom had a working shower and an abundance of towels. One thing missing was a toothbrush, toothpaste and shaving kit. I was told that you can get slippers on request as well. Get the breakfast. It’s €16 and it’s a buffet style with a delicious selection of hot and cold food. There’s rashers, sausages, hash browns, pancakes, the works. I wish I could’ve eaten more! I loved that they had a wide range of ages working there as well. One of the staff tripped when she went to ask if everything was ok and she said ‘I’m fine, I’m falling for you!’ It was then that I knew that I was home. The leisure centre is one of the best I’ve come across in a while. I’ve stayed in so many places where it’s literally an empty room with a few bits of old equipment but they had loads of weights, treadmills, bikes, etc. They do classes and physiotherapy as well. The pool and jacuzzi were also excellent. Plenty of ages in both as well but it wasnt overcrowded so you’ll get a few lengths in if you want. Lastly, make sure to go for a walk about Dalkey and the surrounding areas. I spent the morning walking down to the Vico Baths, the Forty Foot (both swimming locations) and passed through Dalkey Village. Plenty of people will be out with their family and friends whether it be for a walk, bike ride, swim or a coffee and a chat. Ditch Dublin City and say yes to Dalkey!

GGuest UserFacilities: This hotel is actually a hostel, and most rooms are sold by the bed. However, we booked a private room, and to our surprise, it was fully equipped with two separate beds and a private bathroom. Unlike some hostels that offer private rooms without private facilities, this one did. There's also an elevator in the building, which was very convenient for us with our large suitcases. Though, the elevator is a bit old-fashioned; you have to open the door manually. Cleanliness: The cleanliness was surprisingly good. Both the bathroom and the room were very clean. The only minor drawback was that the bed sheets and duvet had some pilling. Service: The service was excellent. After booking, they sent many emails with useful information about nearby transportation, restaurants, facilities, and hotel policies. I was traveling with my 80-year-old father, and he had no issues staying at this hostel. The building has a laundry room and a kitchen, making it ideal for travelers who want hostel-like amenities but prefer not to sleep in a dorm. Plus, the price of their private rooms is cheaper than other hotels. The location is very convenient, with a bus stop nearby that offers direct access to the airport. It's also about a 10-minute walk to the city center. There's a small supermarket and a large park in the vicinity.

GGuest UserThe man at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming as soon as my friends and I arrived. The rooms were kept especially clean throughout our entire stay. The friends I traveled with also ate at the breakfast and said the price was fair because the buffet was so good. 10/10 stay. Also just a ten-ish minute ride downtown and airport.

GGuest UserMy husband and I had been planning this trip to Dublin for quite some time. And when we found this beautiful boutique hotel online, we were so excited. As soon as we arrived And checked in, there was a lot going on in the lobby area, so it was a little overwhelming. We saw a lady at the desk, but we weren’t sure that she actually worked there because she didn’t greet us. Didn’t even look our way. It seemed like she had a general disinterest or disdain for us being there. I asked, “Is this the front desk to the hotel?” To which she responded in a monotone voice, “Yes.” I was shocked that this was the first impression of the hotel that we were getting. What made it worse was that my husband was told that we needed to put a card on hold and he proceeded to tap his card thinking that it was like all the other places we had been to in Ireland. But it didn’t work. Several times he tapped it and it showed nothing. He asked the lady, “does your tap work? Do you have tap?” To which she replied a curt, “no.” Mind you, she was standing there the entire time and could see the entire situation. This interaction was such a bummer, and this made our short trip to Dublin feel a little sour.  To be honest, not all of the stuff was like that morning. We woke up to get a coffee downstairs, and the gentleman that works at the coffee bar was very warm. A young Spanish speaking man. He was absolutely amazing; patient and willing to answer any questions About the items on the menu And the different pastries available.  Overall, the hotel was a mixed bag. It had a very chic vibe but outside of that lovely gentleman, their customer service can definitely improve!
