Great location less than 20 minutes from KHH airport. It is within 8 minutes walking distance from SOGO for those who love to shop department stores. There are 7-11s ( more than one!) Family Marts and a PX Mart (grocery store) along each road. Very convenient. The drinks at 7-11 will be cheaper priced than Family Mart and PX Mart and sometimes they will have a BOGO on select items ( I got an extra baby wipe pack by sheer luck). The Family Mart will have more unique items (ex Kombucha, health teas etc). The food selection for both places will be a bit limited for grab and go eats. Think sweet pastries and snacks. They do have some sandwiches but not super healthy if you are vegetarian. The hotel has complementary breakfast that starts at 6:30am ends at 10am. It is a buffet the fills up the entire room. There is a wonderful mix of local foods, one Western style pot. There is a small salad bar, fruit bar, coffee/tea and a small short order cook that will fry up 4 items (eggs, scallion onion omelette, turnip cakes). There is an other side has at least 10 varieties of local foods. The quality is great! Not too oily, 2 congee pots ( regular and Hong Kong Style). Fruits include what is season (Guava, apples, watermelon) and oranges, bananas. I will warn you about the late night snack (Dim Sum) buffet. Located on same floor and it starts at 7pm. That is a busy mad house. The line to queue up starts earlier and it will go down the hall to the stairwell. Lots of tour buses come to this location and tour groups will flood in each week during season. I went during early April for 9 days. I would go to breakfast at 8 am and skipped the nighttime crush. Restaurants are readily available all around and very affordable. This hotel comes with complimentary laundry DIY and laundry powder soap. Make sure you write your room number on the dry erase placard and stick it on each machine you use. Otherwise another guest may accidentally throw their items in and use the machine. The dryers are on top so hard to see what’s on the bottom. There is a free lounge in the lobby that has complimentary ice cream, coffee/tea and jasmine flavored gelatin cups. You can sit there all day if you like and sip on a free espresso or other drink. This hotel comes with a lot of amenities at a reasonable rate— I will stay here again next time.

This was my third stay at this hotel since its grand opening. I visit Kaohsiung about every six months, and overall the experience has been consistently pleasant. The facilities are well designed and maintained , and the staff are friendly and professional . There was one issue during this stay—the shower drainage was clogged, so I had to use the bathtub instead. This is something that ideally shouldn’t happen at all, but the hotel’s response was okay. They came to fix it next morning as it was late. The soundproofing and AC are excellent. I especially enjoyed the hot spring and the gym, both of which are well equipped and relaxing. I didn’t include the buffet breakfast this time, as I preferred grabbing local drinks, buns, and snacks from the 7‑Eleven or FamilyMart just across the street as well as leaving room for lunch later. The desserts at the lobby café were delightful, and the Japanese restaurant was absolutely divine. It’s just a pity that I didn’t know the omakase needs to be pre-booked. The restaurant doesn’t reserve seats for hotel guests or ask about this in advance, which was a bit disappointing. The set menu was very nice. Overall, it’s still a hotel I enjoy staying.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, standing as a standalone building. There are plenty of shopping options nearby. The front desk is on the 20th floor. On the first floor, they take care of your luggage and deliver it directly to your room. The room isn't huge, but the warm tones make it feel cozy and comfortable. I was very pleased with the numerous complimentary amenities. The mini-bar offers a great variety of drinks, which is a thoughtful touch, and the Dyson hairdryer is very practical and convenient. The gym is a bit on the small side. Breakfast was the most satisfying part – the steak was tender and delicious, comparable to renowned steak houses! There's a wide selection of vegetables, fruits, and mushrooms, offering plenty of healthy choices. Overall, the standard is superb. I absolutely recommend it; personally, I think it's much better than Marriott or InterContinental! It's the top choice when visiting Kaohsiung.

We were extremely impressed with our stay at this hotel! We absolutely loved the unlimited snacks available throughout the day, including coffee, tea, junk foods, and especially the ice cream. One of the highlights of our stay was the complimentary 24-hour laundry service, which was very convenient and added great value to our experience. The breakfast buffet exceeded our expectations with its wide variety of delicious dishes. Our room was clean, comfortable, and relaxing, providing the perfect place to unwind after a long day. The hotel's location was also excellent and convenient for exploring the area. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and outstanding amenities. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

PAPO'A HARBOR HOTEL

PAPO’A Harbor Hotel – A Charming Stay by the Harbor in Kaohsiung During our trip to Kaohsiung, we decided to stay at PAPO’A Harbor Hotel, and it turned out to be a great choice for exploring the creative harbor district of the city. The hotel is located just a short walk from Pier-2 Art Center, one of the most vibrant and artistic areas in Kaohsiung. The neighborhood is filled with street art, converted warehouses, cafés, and galleries, making it a perfect place to wander around both during the day and in the evening. Being able to walk back to the hotel after exploring the area was a big plus. One of the things that makes PAPO’A Harbor Hotel unique is its character. The building used to be a harbor staff dormitory and has been thoughtfully renovated into a boutique hotel. The design blends industrial elements with modern minimal touches, giving the space a calm and slightly artistic atmosphere that fits perfectly with the surrounding Pier-2 district. Our room was simple but very comfortable. The bed was cozy, the room was clean, and everything felt well maintained. While the hotel focuses more on design and location than luxury facilities, it provides everything you need for a pleasant stay. Some rooms even offer partial views of the harbor, which adds to the experience of staying in this port city. Another great advantage is transportation. The Light Rail stop is only a few minutes away, making it easy to reach other parts of Kaohsiung such as Love River, Central Park, or connect to the MRT system. Overall, PAPO’A Harbor Hotel is a lovely boutique stay for travelers who appreciate design, convenience, and a relaxed harbor atmosphere. It may not be a large luxury hotel, but its charm, location, and unique character make it a memorable place to stay in Kaohsiung.

The hotel location is convenient, very close to Exit 2 of the subway. The room is clean, and breakfast is decent. It's close to the Kaohsiung Arena, a large shopping mall, and Ruifeng Night Market, making it a top choice for concerts.

I booked this hotel because of next day flight. However, this hotel still needs to be access by taxi. Hotel is quiet, room is clean. 2 Water bottles are avb. Theres no facilities avb in this hotel except breakfast and almost all day coffee/tea and chips/biscuits (forgot the exact time). Nevertheless, the breakfast is really below so so, all food is not warm at all and limited choices. We finally went to Starbucks across the street.

• **Affordable Price:** A quadruple room during a holiday weekend was around NT$2400, averaging only NT$800 per person. • **Shared Spaces:** There's a common area on the top floor, perfect for a simple meal or relaxation. • **Excellent Location:** Within walking distance to Liuhe Night Market and Love River, ideal for tourists. --- **Recommendations & Notes** • **Best for:** Travelers on a short trip who prioritize convenient transportation and value for money. • **Not suitable for:** Business travelers who require modern facilities or a stable internet connection. • **Dining heads-up:** The hotel doesn't have a restaurant; guests will need to eat out or use the common area for meals. • **Parking:** The hotel doesn't have its own parking lot, so it's advisable to plan parking in advance. --- **Overall Verdict** Kaohsiung Island Tour Hostel is an affordable and conveniently located budget accommodation, suitable for tourists on short stays. Its strengths lie in its location and value for money, while its drawbacks are outdated facilities and an unstable internet connection. If you value transportation and price, it's a good choice; if comfort and reliable amenities are a priority, you might want to consider other hotels.

The combined toilet and shower was a bit inconvenient, but for this area, I think it's a reasonably priced place to stay. It was relatively clean, but the changing room for the public bath had quite a bit of hair accumulated. Compared to Japanese bath facilities, it might feel a bit lacking (no mirrors, no conditioner, high step to enter the bath), but I was grateful to have a public bath. Since there were no mirrors, I tried to look at my reflection in a magic mirror and almost tripped over a step. There are steps in odd places, and the bath entrance is also high; if you trip and hit it, it would hurt. You need to change into slippers when you exit the elevator. The stairs seem to be for staff only. It might be better not to put things on the stairs. Isn't that regulated by fire safety laws?
